@@everything5066 Im saying David stopped concidering faces. So some Dramatic's, me for example, faces doesn't match the associated aestetic. Op is lucky to have face matching the description in the book, all I'm saying.
I think soft dramatic can be confusing to type, because Kibbe does say that it's not necessary that soft dramatics are very fleshy, and usually when they aren't they may lack in the bust and hip area (which is certainly my case). Also, most examples of soft dramatics are usually women of a riper age which is reflected in their figure. But if you see their younger pictures, some of them are actually quite thin and you wouldnt think to type them as soft dramatic. I think this could be a good topic to discuss!
Welp, that clears up a lot! 😁 Dramatic it is, never had my body and face described so accurately. Thank you for taking the time to put this series together.
Thank you! I'm curious about the difference between Soft Natural vs Romantic and Soft Natural vs Soft Gamine. Sometimes I even feel confuse about Soft Natural vs Classic too.
She just did a video like this for Romantics! They cover the Romantic vs Soft Natural, if you wanted to go look for it! I was confused between R and SN until I tried on the lines for SN and went ".....yeah. no."
The biggest difference between R and SN is the frame. Even if Rs can be slightly wide they usually don’t have the frame, when they get heavier they look puffy. They are narrow and small framed overall. SNs doesn’t need width always, but they need frame. They look like they can carry stronger line, more voluptuous curves. The JLO curve to be precise. Romantics will have a double curve, and no elongation. SN doesn’t need that, they have stronger and more “Instagram curves”.
Still unsure. I am 177cm tall, which is just a bit above the average in my country. I definitely have an hourglass figure, with 97cm, both hips and bust and 56cm waist. I have long limbs, quite thin ones and tapered shoulders. My feet are rather small for this height- 37eu, but they appear long as they’re narrow. I don’t put on weight easily and when I do, my waist appears even smaller in comparison to the rest of the figure. I don’t have angular face at all, it’s roundish oval with full cheeks. I have big almond eyes and full lips. My head is quite big so I don’t really appear as tall as I really am, though my much taller boyfriend might also be the case
Don't look at the details (makes you confused) focus on the overall image. If you described yourself in a few words what would it be? What sticks out? For me I'm long lean and small = gamine.
At that height you can only be Soft Dramatic, Dramatic or Flamboyant Natural. So when you look at yourself in the mirror what do you notice first? Is it your height and curvy figure or your shoulders and frame? If your curves are the first thing you see you are probably SD. If your frame is the dominant feature, then you are probably FN. And, if your length and narrowness is the dominant feature you are most likely a pure D.
I disagree that when one has sharpness she looks strong and less female looking. The behavior and the way one carries oneself, facial expressions, body language, aura etc. Is more dominant in my opinion. Then the sharpness or softness in her lines.
This is a very good suggestion! Kibbe types retain their underlying features despite weight gain, but excess fat certainly obscures them and makes it very difficult to determine which category you fall under. It would be helpful to see an 1) underweight, 2) healthy weight, 3) overweight and 4) obese example of the body types, along with an explanation of typical fat distribution for each as well.

Could you do a video on the differences between soft dramatic and flamboyant natural please? I am one of them but I just cannot work out which one! In many ways they seem to have similar attributes and from the pictures I struggle to distinguish between them definitively. I love your Kibbe series. This is the first body type system that has actually made sense to me. The distinction of skeletal structure and type of flesh gives so much more nuance and reality to the body types. Thank you for your enlightening videos!
Great! Waiting for Classic... I'm almost sure my face is Soft Classic/Classic and my body is Dramatic Classic... PS: Aly you look AMAZING in last videos. The contrast between your softly tanned skin and hair is brilliant!
The BIGGEST FLAW of that typing system is that it needs people to be model thin to be typed correctly. Any extra weight, even if it's ever so slight, can cause anybody to be in a whole different category that might be completely wrong for them.
Dying to know what categories other Hollywood actresses fall in, especially Ava Gardner, Veronica Lake, Hedy Lamarr, Liv Tyler, Gene Tierney, Lena Horne and Gal Gadot!
I am 90% sure that I am a soft dramatic but sometimes still have doubts if I am a dramatic or not. I tried the dramatic hairstyles ( sleek and sculpted, straight, wasnt a look for me) also when it comes to dresses long wrap dresses suit me the most. Is there a way to clarify this easier?
@@brunamota8865 Yes, being underweight or overweight doesn't help. But, even than, the body has accentuated bust-waist-hips ratio or it's straight. SD's don't have narrow hips or flat chest. D's rarely have any curves at all. SD is about lush flesh, unlike D. Without flesh, body can look more like D. SD has height/vertical line and curves to accommodate, D only height/vertical line. SD clothes is meant to hug the curves. It's all about the size of the curves. If you don't have them, perhaps D options would be better for you. Go by the vibe and your energy, personality. Jamie Lee Curtis and Nicole Kidman don't have very different body images. Jamie is D, Nicole is FN. It's overall vibe. And the face, although Kibbe abandoned face as relevant in his system.
@@blueice011 The thing I have caracteristics that would define me both as D and SD. I'm tall and I look tall, besides my hands and feet I believe I have long, narrow bones and all that jazz. However I look moderately curvy from the front (which could be just curves every human body has) but I'm very curvy from the back even tho I'm very close to being underweight. Does that make me a D with a booty? Or an ultrathin SD? Should I take into account how I look from the front and back? And what if those sides tell me different things? Also as a young person I'm not really sure if I can tell the difference between a regular hourglass/pear shaped body and a instagram hourglass/pear shaped body. I think my perception is screwed up! Don't get me wrong I know you're being helpful and informative but there are a lot of questions left unanswered, especially because all the creators talking about this subject mainly use white women as examples
Huh, I'm just sitting here reflecting over the fact that I prefer my face when I have a bit more weight on (but my body with a bit less) cause my face turns reeeeaally angular and masculine when it has less fat on it TT i like it better while rounded. I suppose I'm just a dramatic all the way
@@tool-enjoyer666 Raquel Welch is Soft Dramatic. :) They are bomb shells, very curvy and feminine. Although, I agree, every woman cam be feminine. It's about energy, not body image.
Please do a video for dyeing natural red hair. I’m a redhead and have always wanted to try a new colour but I don’t know what would look good and when the roots eventually grow out what colours would help that process.
I'm trying to get used to the idea that I'm actually a dramatic (still not sure tho because looking at yourself objectively is hard) but the way you describe it as 'masculine' just makes me wanna rip off my skin and die 😢
I am boyish. I'm flat cheated and am not soft or curvy. I also have quite a big head and long hands. I personally have to have long hair otherwise I feel like I look like a teenage boy. But I am ok with it because I am a product of my ancestry and I'm proud of that and I know there is no one like me. We are all completely individual.
I feel like this comparison was less obvious than the Romantic vs Other types comparison. Apparently everyone has a little bit of drama, unless they're Romantic. But our Romantic sides are not so obvious when we're not Romantics. (no pun intended)😊
I could never tell if I was a dramatic or a flamboyant natural. I'm tall (5'9), and have very long bones (legs, arms, feet, etc.), however I also have large hips with a rather big behind, despite being bony. I feel if I was a dramatic then I wouldn't have a soft- oblong face with large eyes. Am I a mix?
You can have some yin features in your face and be a D. You can also have a big butt and be one because Kibbe uses the front of our bodies and a curvy butt isn't taken into consideration there. It's about whether you have width (the fabric pulling around your shoulders/ribcage), or you are narrow all over and more 'straight' leaning. Maybe you can also take a look at celebs.
I love you! You are so insightful and gorgeous! I like that you have grown your hair so its below your chin and lightened it to add more contrast (both of these make your face less wide) and have styled it in a way that is more straight yet still soft/tousled (so it's still soft gamine). I think this has definitely slimmed your face and suits you! I like the lipstick you have chosen for this video better than the mauve-y pink one you normally wear b/c I think that one is a bit too cool-toned. Also, are you wearing colored contacts or is it just the lighting or the tan? They look lighter. I'd definitely be interested in seeing what your brown hair would look like with baby highlights and your green eyes--I think it'd be really pretty! Maybe for Fall? This is just my opinion which I think agrees with the stuff you say in your vids!
Trends come and go. Embrace and love yourself because you are unique the way you are. Many women starve themselves in order to loose weight and achieve your slender figure. And you got it naturally. Slim, tall person can wear everything they want ant look good, stylish and elegant. Being slim is always trendy and very convenient. Chin up!
I use to be more of a soft classic in my younger age. Now that I am older, I see myself as more of a dramatic classic as I am thinner and good ol' arthritis gives me more of a "sharper" appearance. When you age, you lose collagen and elasticity. Your bones appear prominent- especially arthritic joints. Just saying.
She will probably look understated and "boring" , kinda like she needs to add something more to the outfit. On the other hand, SC will look absolutely harmonious in some understated "classic" and timeless pieces.
Hey Aly, I love your channel and your analysis on the body types. I would like to request for an analysis of the different body types and the saree and saree draping styles for them. I think I am a soft gamine and always end up looking childish instead of elegant in them and would love to know more about how to style them so I at least look decent in them. Thank you, you and Merriam Style are my favourite channels btw. Much love.
Could you include more people of color and people of higher weights please? Im overweight and I can not figure out what I am... Also I see some poc but lots of them got typical ''white feautures''. Love your videos though
This is sometimes such a hard type to be.. I used to love fluffy clothes, But now I think I don't look good on, them.. It's a kibbe rabithole 😶sorry about my english😅
Now I'm really confused. I'm pretty tall (180 cm), have sharp facial features even though I have full lips. Also I have thin and long fingers, small and thin feet. Sharp shoulders and collar bone with thin waist and small chest. On the other hand I have thick tights and bigger but. Even though I'm normal weight.
What if my body looks like a pure dramatic but my face is the complete opposite? I have kind of an oval/rectangular shaped face with chubby cheeks which doesn't resemble the stereotypical dramatic at all

Hi, Aly! First, let me say that I love your videos; I watch a lot of them, even if I rarely take the time to comment every time. Second: could you make a soft natural vs. others video? I could really use it, 'cause I'm a soft natural, but it seems to be a very vague type, it would help to see the specific features of the soft natural pinned in a more affirmative way, sorta
im confused with my body type and how to dress, im not sure if its in between of some or because im still growing(im 13) I have a smaller waist than bust and shoulders. but what throws me off is that i have long legs and a short torso/waist. I have a style, which is more tomboy/ skater girl as some say. its just so confusing
Very helpful @AlyArt, your work on this subject is the best! but no matter how much information I collect and/or learn on Kibbe Types I remain equally Soft Dramatic/dramatic Classic/flamboyant Natural 😩 Is there some feature that trumps others?
Based on my height, I’m dramatic, but my face is very round, soft and what people call “feminine”. My torso sounds like dramatic, but my bottom is also pretty feminine and round, I shop for “curvy” when I need to buy bottoms because I have a pretty distinguishable waist to hips line. So I’m a little confused.
Very straight, no hips, thin bones, thin lips, long torso, long thin nose, soft inverted triangle facial shape, small eyes, cheekbones are not angular, 5"6'. Now that I'm older, I look much softer! Currently losing the fleshy parts with weight loss. Guessing mostly Dramatic for myself. My weight gain has been in my torso. Yang energy for sure.
This is helpful! Still not sure if I'm gamine or dramatic, though. In photos people think I look tall, unless there is another human in the photo. (I'm a long limbed 5' wtf lol)
It's extremely rare for someone that's 5ft to look 5'8 & above. You might look taller than your height, but not tall enough to look dramatic. Gamines actually tend to have long arms.
Great vid on dramatic types! Super helpful and a great help in figuring what styles look best...ty for this💗💐 You look so tan and healthy Aly...FL is def agreeing with you! Best to u and hubs💗💐
I’m still confused as to what body type I am… I have sharp features and body structure but wide hips and “chubby” rounded cheeks… people tell me all of the time that I look like Kendall Jenner (pre-plastic surgery) and have a similar body type to her (slightly higher bust and hips)… can’t decide if I’m dramatic or flamboyant natural
HELP!!! The thing is my body is tall, long, dry extremely angular but my face is very small and fleshy, I don't have sharp facial features so I really don't know what I am... On the test I was a soft dramatic but the only fleshy part of my body is my face😟 Can I possibly be classic dramatic?
Looking at Jamie Lee Curtis' build I think I am dramatic. But I have been lifting heavy weights for years and so I do have muscle on my frame. It is hard won muscle though as I don't gain easily. That makes figuring this out much more difficult. If I lose body fat though, I am told I look too bony. Is that a clue?
Hi Aly. Great videos! I suggest a video specific about Gamins. Really difficult do understand the differences among Gamin and FG. Most important are the suggestions of what fits well in each case, with tons of examples of looks! regards from Brazil!!
I'm a little confused...I'm 5'9, thin, long. So I should technically be dramatic. But my face is definitely not like Tilda's. It's softer and rounder and less prominent sigh... So then what does that make me?
Face is less relevant but it could be a mix. Selena Gomez has a different face to her body. Type both separately and apply the advice to the area you typed. It most likely won't clash because you are who you are. When ppl look at you they don't think the elements of you are not in place. You look beautiful on your picture. God Bless you 💖

The BIGGEST FLAW of that typing system is that it needs people to be model thin to be typed correctly. Any extra weight, even if it's ever so slight, can cause anybody to be in a whole different category that might be completely wrong for them.
Thank you again for this type of videos
Dying to know what categories other Hollywood actresses fall in, especially Ava Gardner, Veronica Lake, Hedy Lamarr, Liv Tyler, Gene Tierney, Lena Horne and Gal Gadot!
I think Liv Tyler is some sort of natural, but I’m not a 100% sure
I am 90% sure that I am a soft dramatic but sometimes still have doubts if I am a dramatic or not. I tried the dramatic hairstyles ( sleek and sculpted, straight, wasnt a look for me) also when it comes to dresses long wrap dresses suit me the most. Is there a way to clarify this easier?
Look for flesh on upper arms and bigger bust. Flesh on upper limbs is a good indicator bc most Ds have come curve on thights.
Tari Tangeo thank you!!
@@blueice011 i would say that you can very much confuse the two, especially if you are underweight.
I suppose I'm just a dramatic all the way
A little reminder-masculine doesnt mean manly! Very masculine women will almost always still look more womanly than very feminine men.
+there are plenty of very masculine women who are known for their femininity. For example, rachel welch!
@@tool-enjoyer666 Raquel Welch is Soft Dramatic. :) They are bomb shells, very curvy and feminine. Although, I agree, every woman cam be feminine. It's about energy, not body image.
Masculine and manly are synonyms lol... And saying Yang women are masculine is bullshit...
It's doesnt mean you look like a man. It's just a more direct energy. There is nothing bad about it at all.
@@littleflor2975 it's not bad but i struggle a lot with feeling feminine, i feel like i'm very boyish like in my mannerisms which i hate
I love your hair and makeup! You look fabulous!
Wowow i now believe that kibbe is more than i thought.
Yes body& looks matter so much
Have you considered doing a color series based on David Zyla? I would love to see that! He has a unique and very individual perspective on color.
so basically now im dramatic in every area of my life LOL
Hi Aly, could you do a "Hats for the body types"? Thanks! So grateful for your channel 😁
I’m dramatic and I’m insecure about it because it’s not really popular and “trendy” right now
Awww, but you get the really cool clothes!
Its also literal hell to try to find anything bc of that
Makes you stand out in a crowd :)
Don't worry! I'm textbook dramatic and I've made it my thing! I'm going to start writing about it on my fashion blog to inspire others
I am still not sure if I am Soft Dramatic or Theatrical Romantic. I will patiently wait for that video
Thank you Aly
Curious...what happens if you dress a theatrical romantic in classic clothes?
She will probably look understated and "boring" , kinda like she needs to add something more to the outfit. On the other hand, SC will look absolutely harmonious in some understated "classic" and timeless pieces.
Hey Aly, I love your channel and your analysis on the body types. I would like to request for an analysis of the different body types and the saree and saree draping styles for them. I think I am a soft gamine and always end up looking childish instead of elegant in them and would love to know more about how to style them so I at least look decent in them. Thank you, you and Merriam Style are my favourite channels btw. Much love.
I am happy you uploaded😊
Aly you need to do more for us soft dramatics PLEASE 😩🥺 Especially with low contrast
So fun learning about this from you. I’m a dramatic!
Watch next video. BUt in general only hips or lips don't make you a different type. Probably you are D or one of those higher types - LIke SD or FN
For weeks I'm like am I soft dramatic of flamboyant natural, this helped me a lot, I am flamboyant natural
Loved your video. Please make one for soft dramatics!!
Yesterday I thought I was Flamb Natural, this morning Dramatic and now Soft Dramatic. I'm not sure yet ... 🙄
What confuses me sometimes are people who look Dramatic but aren't tall, like Oona Chaplin for instance. I'm guessing Oona is Gamine?
im confused with my body type and how to dress, im not sure if its in between of some or because im still growing(im 13)
I have a smaller waist than bust and shoulders. but what throws me off is that i have long legs and a short torso/waist.
Sounds like soft dramatic to me
Very straight, no hips, thin bones, thin lips, long torso, long thin nose, soft inverted triangle facial shape, small eyes, cheekbones are not angular, 5"6'. Now that I'm older, I look much softer! Currently losing the fleshy parts with weight loss. Guessing mostly Dramatic for myself. My weight gain has been in my torso. Yang energy for sure.
So good! But I'm continue confusing yet. It's possible if I have Dramatic face but Flamboyant natural Body?
omg I just realized im a dramatic not flamboyant natural very interesting thanks!
I struggle to tell the body types apart. I was typed as a Dramatic but I see my body shape in a lot of the other types too! It’s confusing
Im 5'5 i have all traits of dramatic body type, i do have a long vertical line but im not tall, am i still considered dramatic?
I found this www.petitepoire.ca/style/petite-body-types/kibbe-body-types-for-petites.html
Ds heights vary from moderate (about 5'5") to tall so yes.
Book pleeeease! featuring wardrobe.makeup/hair. plenty of photos!!! Love the vids.....for now🤫😏
This is helpful!
@@NaNa-wy2tk Maybe it's gamine then. I've always felt too angular/bony/long to be sure. imgur.com/a/2vTsKVf
Great vid on dramatic types! Super helpful and a great help in figuring what styles look best...ty for this💗💐 You look so tan and healthy Aly...FL is def agreeing with you! Best to u and hubs💗💐
Best explanation🙌
Dramatics are other worldly looking.
Excited to see this I was in between FN and DC for ages before figuring out I’m DC
I can't decide between soft natural or flamboyant natural.
According to the most recent kibbe posts on facebook, you're likely Dramatic bc face doesn't count anymore at all.
@@taritangeo4948 thank youu!! I was so confused!!
I thought I was dramatic classic at first, but I think I’m actually flamboyant natural. Can’t figure out for sure though...
This new look is stunning on you! How did you create it?? Please do a video!
you look absolutely gorgeous
Omg body types vid again
Yaaay😍😍😍😍
Hi Aly. Great videos! I suggest a video specific about Gamins. Really difficult do understand the differences among Gamin and FG. Most important are the suggestions of what fits well in each case, with tons of examples of looks! regards from Brazil!!
I can't wait for the SD and FN vs the rest
Soft dramatic vs other body types pls
6:02 notes for myself!
God Bless you 💖
Cant wait for theatrical romantic vs others
