An amazing conversation about the legendary vidwan. He is unarguably the greatest without a doubt. Happy to be a part of that bani learning Parur Sundareswaran mama and also my Appa who is a disciple of MS anantharaman sir. ❤️🙏
Other great things about MSG and his family…They were equally adept at both Carnatic and Hindusthani styles. Per Lalgudi’s book, when he moved to Chennai, MSG’s dad provided great hints for Lalgudi to establish in his new area. Even Anantharaman spoke highly of Lalgudi and his style.
Beautiful conversation with one of his dear and dedicated students (Satish Kumar) of MSG sir! Thanks for this. I have met Satish as well, an affectionate wonderful being. GOD bless. 🙏
MSG was very rigid in his stand and principles and never comprised .But people misused his inate character and he was a very simple and down to earth and this was considered as bloated ego .As a small boy I had the occasion to see him practice at close quarters and was amazed at his zeal and commitment ,this was as a prelude to his concert with brothers and was practicing the r.t.p and they had to tell him to be relaxed .This shows his commitment to the art . Great artist who did not get the recognition due . Even the greats in private conversations did not like this aspect of his personality .
I have been an avid Rasika of carnatic music from my early teens. Got drawn into listening to Carnatic music, thanks to my dad. The first concert I heard was an unique one when I look back. It was in Bombay and the combination was unique in the way that it was Madurai Mani Iyer/MSG/Palakkad Mani Iyer/Rajamani (Double Mridangam). I still remember MSG 'response to Mani Iyer's Panthuvarali alapana and the mjnd blowing response of MSG. Ever since I have always admired his flawless playing without much ado. His combination with TVG in solo concerts and then with Chembai/Balamurali/Yesudas/KVN/ Kalyanaraman etc has been mind blowing. A solo concert that comes to mind is the IIT Delhi concert of 1975. Out of the world.
Wonderful to see this. My Guru always told me to listen to MSG mama to learn and practice the art of azhuttam and gamakams. I am a dear friend of Dr. Narmadha and when I visited Madras last, visited her at home also. Got MSG mama’s ashirvadhams in Cleveland. Namaskaram
Mention was made of MSG’s respect for GNB . For those haven’t heard it , please listen to a mind blowing Durga he has played in response to GNB in a viruttam drawing unstinted ‘bales’ from GNB right through MSG ‘s essay of Durga. It is only apt that you have concluded your chat with a Durga😢😢
@@sathishkumar-fiddlestrings7939 that’s the concert popularly known among GNB affionados as the Nattaikurinji concert . And Satish , you are forgetting Gavathi after Hamsanandi .
Wonderful ❤
Super. Pl make such sessions more & more
