Well, I'd say that's true for both parties. I don't think George Carlin, Louis CK or Eddie Murphy ever thought about political correctness and whatnot and they're all American. There are comedians who choose the more classical side of comedy, while others choose a more daring one. For example, I will never figure out why people love that Aziz guy - I think his humor is for children. But, many people like him so...I'm not the comedy authority! Everyone's different!

The most popular sitcom can't hold a candle to Are You Being Served? or Keeping Up Appearances or On the Buses. Not even close. UK TV is still the best in the world.

Actually Downey's comments about the actresses needing to sleep with him in order to win an award were more offensive then anything Ricky said. What Ricky said was always funny and never far from the truth.

Humour is very different in america. Me being a fellow brit i find his humour funny but loads of Americans (not all) take it too seriously. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler piss me right off, their jokes are rehearsed like people in the comments have said quote "Like they have been read off cue cards."...and it's true. I'm not stereotyping, some brits don't like him and some Americans do. Humour is different to everyone. This is just my opinion.

Gervais' humor was absolutely brutal, but some of the best comedy bits I've seen in years. There will be several different golden globe hosts, but every man and woman who attended/watched that one will remember it. It was great, and there was a reason so many American comedians lauded it as fantastic.

Would Love Love Love to see Gervais host the Oscars. About 15 mins. into this year's show, I was like 'someone, shoot me now'. The show wanted dull, boring, cause-no-problems-at-all-cost and they certainly got it with Neil Patrick Harris. The reviews and the audience numbers on the following day were horrendous. I guess the network got what they wished for.
