      +Benjamin.T. Haden Ricky is wittier, Frankie just straight up offends and uses that as his laugh factor, ricky makes well placed jokes and subtle references. Totally different as comedians

      ***** I do know what I'm talking about lol... personal opinions are all xP I love both, Frankie on Mock the Week made that show for me, and I love his standup altho some believe it to be too offensive but that's what makes him him, no offense meant don't get too defensive

    • @sarahmonroe3096
      @sarahmonroe3096 11 років тому +21

      Well, I'd say that's true for both parties. I don't think George Carlin, Louis CK or Eddie Murphy ever thought about political correctness and whatnot and they're all American. There are comedians who choose the more classical side of comedy, while others choose a more daring one. For example, I will never figure out why people love that Aziz guy - I think his humor is for children. But, many people like him so...I'm not the comedy authority! Everyone's different!

    I grew up on British humour, which is dominated by sarcasm, so this to me is brilliant stuff. It's not contrived. Now look at the state of US sitcoms today. The most popular sitcom can't hold a candle to Are You Being Served? or Keeping Up Appearances or On the Buses. Not even close. UK TV is still the best in the world.

    Humour is very different in america. Me being a fellow brit i find his humour funny but loads of Americans (not all) take it too seriously. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler piss me right off, their jokes are rehearsed like people in the comments have said quote "Like they have been read off cue cards."...and it's true. I'm not stereotyping, some brits don't like him and some Americans do. Humour is different to everyone. This is just my opinion.

    I bet McCartney hasn't been publicly burned with too many jokes like that during the last 40 years. Not that it was even bad, but he does look like it caught him a bit off guard here. Usually it's all praise while Ringo has to take the jokes.

      I subscribe to Sarah's Monroe quiet wisdom. Humour is completely subjective. I happen to like Amy and Tina, and Sarah prefers Ricky. Neither of us are "right," nor are we "wrong," although Americans are obviously better than Brits.

    Ricky Gervais you're even funnier than I thought you were....wonderful, fearless stuff. Brilliant. If certain Hollywood egos are offended by this, then that's just hilarious....maybe it's better that some of them were brought back down to Earth. Jodie Foster and the few others that are apparently clever enough and strong enough to see and ride with the joke...respect.

      Would Love Love Love to see Gervais host the Oscars. About 15 mins. into this year's show, I was like 'someone, shoot me now'. The show wanted dull, boring, cause-no-problems-at-all-cost and they certainly got it with Neil Patrick Harris. The reviews and the audience numbers on the following day were horrendous. I guess the network got what they wished for.
