#yamsquad #rowing #shorts
Bro sounds like he's about to defend his homeland with a battle ax
I only row a single but this really makes me want to row an eight!
Definitely a different beast!
It’s fun
If I ever made this much noise while rowing my coxswain would fucking execute me
Ya pretty fast but you couldn’t beat me in my scull
I reckon I'd have you at falling in the fastest
@Frank Astier if so, the single sculler is 5m tall or the 8 has an total crew weight of 80kg.
@Frank Astier but the 8 has 8x the power and if that thing builds up momentum it's unstoppable..👊🏼
@Frank Astier what does that mean?
@Frank Astier just watch the olympics final of an eight and you will see what they can produce 💪🏼
Rowers are the most underrated Arm wrestlers in the world. Lats, forearms, biceps and explosive fast twitch muscles.
Thanks for sharing this. I love the sound of a 8 chunking it's way down the river. Looking forward to some summer rowing again (fingers crossed) #yamsquad
dudes a viking
Kratos be rowing
full power in sweep boats is a different kind of hurt
Especially an eight. Very different when you have all the lads around!
OMG the guy infront has my club kit!! NSR!!
Showy for the cameras, but the grunting adds nothing to a smooth, powerful, efficient stroke.
I disagree.
Dropped 8 splits 🤷🏼♂️
@@CameronBuchan over a shorter distance presumably?
Over 2k that would be a waste of energy and oxygen and is partly why international coaches don’t ask all their crews to grunt loudly and in time.
Really enjoying your videos. If it fits in with training, would you be willing to show us a bit more of what you are doing in the weight room to train? Also, do you know if/how the women vary their training program from the men's? As a female getting into the erg, it would be great to see. It was great when you visited the women's 2k erg tests in one of your other videos. Hopefully, the lockdowns will ease around the globe and we will all get to do more soon. Thanks for keeping us in the know and posting positive content that motivates!
Just easier to film at the moment on the wetter being more spaced out but one day we will back to wright's filming!
I definitely think men and women should be training differently althiugh I havent seen much of it actually done unfortunately
Bro that set. I know at the collegiate level set becomes second nature but still the boat is as stiff as a board
Beastly
I do rowing at my school and I just learned how to feather
Well done!
And my 100 m time on the erg at 4 difficulty, when from 1:18 to 00:54! I truly love rowing! might even get in my first race soon.Hope so! and thanks for the reply, this truly motivated me to keep on going👍
I don't think I ever did a 100m sprint... Only like 500m sprints. Kinda curious now what I'd get seeing as, after a full blasters workout, I can put down 1:28 for 30 seconds, which ends up being ~169 meters over 30 seconds, so it'd have to be below 30 seconds. @@GhulamMustafa-pi8de
I really hope your joking about that split time....
Beast!
This short is amazing because I have almost the sam boat
It is so fun watching this video.
Reading your replies on the comment section was gold as well lol
Each to their own but I reckon Tony O’Connor would have a fit over this - he spent time getting the NZ M8+ to relax the face and upper body. Row fast not hard. Sorta worked…
This is really cool to watch fro me since I am now j 15 rowing for ERBC in Enniskillen. But I have been in an eight 3 times and it's so much more fun the octos, quads, doubles and sculls
I really don’t like eights that much but this really makes me want to get back in one!
I've done eights and I've done quads... I love the stability of sculling, but nothing beats a good eight with the boys
Do you miss Leander, and rowing in an 8 as opposed to your single scull?
Rowing in an eight is special for its own reasons, really enjoying the single life at the moment. Same with leander!
@Frank Astier First you have to work out how to get in the boat without falling out (not falling “off”), which can be difficult for the first few attempts. Bigger boats are easier to get into, so trying in a quad or an eight is easier than in a double or single.
When you get going, the rower and the novice will be out of time - novices’ rhythms are usually poor and out of time, rather than consistent.
Even if you are in time, you’ll have to figure out balance. The bigger the boat, the easier it is to balance as more blades are keeping the boat level. Keeping both hands on the blades (if you’re sculling) is vital if you don’t want to fall in. Also, moving up and down the slide while trying to keep balance is something that takes a lot of time and practise.
Lastly, you’ll leave steering to the tower with experience. A novice trying to steer a boat is never a good idea.
So hopefully that answers your question. When you start out rowing, there are so many different aspects that you constantly have to think about. Your whole body is working as well as your mind. You have to think about balance, technique, staying in time, how close you are to the riverbank, and other boats around you.
My coach used to tell us to be silent on a race of course I yelled as hard as I could and we won. Scream gives as extras power as an Oakley does
My coach always says if you can still make sound your not rowing hard enough, don’t think this is always through tough😅
It’s not true
@@CameronBuchanthat’s what I tell him😂
That what we would call James Tacci rowing
POWERRRRRRR
Someone should let MoD know this is the only SBS squad they need!
"By Strength and Guile" Well done!
Im training
Posiden quivers before him
bro is it an emperor eight 💀?
Björn in his prime
Arms away vs slide ratio is gross
Ratio will look quite different doing sub 120 at low rates!
@@CameronBuchan what split was this?
bro sounds like kratos
grunting wastes energy and oxygen
The dude in the red vest ..lot of effort ..but slightly 2 piece rowing ..yanking the finish just a bit..will get worse in a tight race..needs to smoothen out especially being in stroke.. probably been asked by the coach to put in 100% power
No.7 ..better on technique than stroke..needs to run hand away a wee wee bit faster at the turn around i.e the finish..
No.6..also better technique than 8 .. needs to straighten out inner arm slightly at and soon after catch..also needs to move inner shoulder back faster to get better efficiency..when that is done the inner arm will straighten out that little bit.
Good luck whatever y'all are training for !!👍
No.6.
The video is from the 2020 racing season.
Just having some fun and applying 100% like you said.
I believe we were rowing in 6s. Stern pair that you can't see in shot I think we're sitting out! Great fun and good bonding with the boat.
Definitely not technically sound!
@@CameronBuchan sorry.. is that you in the red vest? That's 105% -+ power..👍👃
If 2 guys are sitting.even..theres a pretty good run in that boat..
I'm not a rower ..i make others row ..I'm a Coach 🙂... anyone by any chance know a coach named Alex Mann there..5 years back he was coaching Seattle/ Washington University something like that ..?
@@abrahamkandathil-6036 No no, I'm in the black. This is my channel ☺
That's awesome. I haven't heard the name but I know a lot of guys from that area that no doubt do!
@@CameronBuchan ok you're 719 ..got it ..it's a mixed 8..fun outing ..lots of killing ! you guys have so much power ..you don't need technique!!🤔.🙂.
Met up with Alex about 6 years back .. I'm a purely technical coach .he was about half my age ..!!! brought him down to the Rowing Club when i was Captain to do a one month program..!
Great to see your rowing channel..saw another rowing Channel just today ..Aram Rowing.i think it was ..he has a website too where he's trying to create a Rowing community ..
So necessary ..great sport ...so much effort , so little recognition or reward compared to other sports I mean...
Anyway nice talking... all the best to you guys ..Cheers and God Bless..
@@abrahamkandathil-6036 thank you! Have a great day
Bro behind is not fucking pulljng
But why bucket rigged?
Everyone knows that’s the fastest
If I was in an 8 with him I would also start yelling
idk I was never big on yelling at at the finish. Hard to yell and put down power.
Is it bad that I am not able to put my hands between my legs? When catching? I tend to have more of a deadlift form
Yes it will mean you won’t be able to rotate enough
@@CameronBuchan Do you think this is a flexibility issue? Or do I just need to get used to it? The position feels akward, especially when starting for example
Thats Not full Power.
if you have enough air to make these noise you are not rowing hard enough mate
Thanks for the feedback!
Oh what a weak guy..
My grandmother is probably stronger..
She probably is, would love to row in a boat with her
Always trying to be the center of attention. This dude 🙈
😂
