One of the all time greatest guitar players who ever picked up a guitar. Very unknown by most people. I discovered Roy around 1979.
Imo, he is one of the most impressive guitarists I’ve ever seen. Truly the embodiment of a virtuoso
The MOST underrated guitarist 🎸 period😢😅😊
Try his original The Messiah Will Come Again. Roy was a prodigy learned Steel guitar at age 7 mastered it at age 8 ..yes 8 yrs old. Tragic life ..his skill in manipulation of the volume and tone controls was unequalled and Jeff Beck picked up Roy's technique they became friends. Mentor and Student
I got to ask Jeff Beck about his relationship with Roy Buchanan in 1999: Jeff only got to meet Roy for a few minutes when he played the Marquee Club in 1985, and a 1985 Guitar Player magazine interview with Roy confirms that he met Jeff on his 1985 European tour, but that they didn't even have the chance to jam. I sent Jeff Beck the 1971 Roy Buchanan documentary on VHS in 1999: he hadn't seen it in over a quarter century, and youtube didn't exist then.
Somehow, I feel fortunate that I got to see Roy "The Master Of The Telecaster" Buchanan, twice in concert. The first time was in a small performance hall, maybe 500 people, at my college in New Hampshire. The second time he was opening up for the Grateful Dead at a racetrack in Lewiston, Maine with 30,00 Dead Heads on a "grassy" infield. Roy was absolutely amazing at both shows, but of course, the smaller venue was more fun and intimate, he made his Tele "talk", unbelievable. RIP Roy Buchanan.
Greatest skill of any guitarist I've ever seen or heard. Roy's been around since 1953. Pre Elvis a Country Blues Rock guitar master. He plays clean just his two hands and one guitar one amp Zero gimmicks
This is my favorite underrated guitarist of all. This dude was another guitar mystic like Hendrix, in his own way. You gotta react to his, The Messiah will Return at this same concert. That was ridiculous!!! This whole concert was crazy! Great reaction! ✌🏽
Nobody can make you feel with a guitar, like Roy does, Roy Buchanan SECOND ALBUM.
Yes you were right everyone was mesmerized
Roy Buchanan was very unique, One of the few players who makes his sound only with his fingers, Awesome. I can`t get enough from him.
My dad had Roy's 2nd album so I knew his music from back in the 70's.......bought that album on cd later and now I literally have all his work.
Together with Peter Green and Gary Moore my favorite guitar players.
The audience have to sit still in these early TV broadcast concerts, you see it in a lot of this vintage.
Roy had light gauge [gage[ strings, stevie Ray used 'baling wire ! 😉, Both incredible players.
One of the original important stringpickers. The guitar heroes hero. And i think people are just sitting still, cause they watch in awe stuff, they never seen before.
I would suggest Can I Change My Mind from the Livestock Stock album. Possibly the best solo EVER recorded. For extra fun, the Hot Cha track is stellar! Malcolm Lukens on keyboards is phenomenal!
Thank you. More Roy please
Lord luvs Ducks ❤ I can't wait for you to hear Mr Buchanan hope you are doing 1841 shuffle, Merry Christmas...Blessing in 2024! Cheers
Check out, can I change my mind live by Roy Buchanan.
Lord we have been married 45 yrs. So many wonderful cuts! 1841 shuffle, My baby and me (his guitar😂) small venue 2. I could not sit still! 78 I think.
I was watching a biographical thing about Buchanan one thing that was mentioned was the idea of not losing finger dexterity as an adult.
Please react Sissel Kyrkjebø - Unchained Melody❤
He might be unknown to the masses. But you can bet your bottom dollar the guitar gods of today with less talent than Roy are very aware of him
React to Jimi Hendrix @ the Lulu Show! Hes the wolds best electrical guitarist imo... ✌🏽
@@stevenmeyer9674 you're most ignorant... I bet you haven't listened or watched most of his music or performances. All of you people that talk like that haven't.
@@stevenmeyer9674 nah... you're most ignorant. All you people that say he's overrated either never listened to most of his music or just don't have the souls to feel the music. Either way, sucks for you
His last name is pronounced "can" not "chan"
