This wouldn't have been possible without people like these, who were willing to tackle this painfully bad game and it's evil code through, huge thanks for these guys. After over two weeks of investigation and testing, I finally compiled the whole collection together from extracted PFS's, turned into uncompressed WAV files.
So, here we have, all of the tracks that can be found from Martian Gothic's PS1 version. Interestingly, there were three hidden tracks, which are broken leftovers from PC-version music, perhaps they tried to port most of the songs into PS1, but something went wrong and they did new stuff for it instead.
Game's sound system is pretty much broken through the game (as pretty much the whole game), the game mostly plays one track on each room with computer, and just couple others randomly in some areas. I assume that there propably was supposed to be more music throughout the game, but due technical issues or schedule, they didn't/couldn't fix it and some of these tracks were left unused or played randomly due broken trigger points/audio engine.
Tracklist:
0:00 - 0:48 - Main Theme
0:48 - 4:56 - Unknown (will change these if someone knows what these are called)
4:57 - 11:04 Unknown --- this track literally plays 70% of the time when there's music in the game, fucking hate this...
11:05 - 14:04 - Arboretum/Fan Room
14:05 - 16:24 - Shuttle Bay
16:25 - 17:28 - Trimorph/Vent Run
17:29 - 19:24 - Altar (Martian Gothic)
19:24 - 22:52 - Necropolis
Hidden tracks found from the disc:
23:02 - 24:13 - Unused 1 (leftover from PC-version, bad work with the samples)
24:19 - 25:12 - Welcome To Vita Base (leftover from PC-version, broken, runs too fast and lacks that greasy synth sound found in PC-version)
25:13 - 27:25 - Unused 3 (Altar from PC-version, even thou it didn't even play on the PC version)

This game was a nightmare to hack haha, but I'm glad it was all for a good cause. That last hidden track is legit too good to be hidden away, very ominous.
Greetings, Unicorngoulash.
Thanks again! Yea I wonder that since both version, PC an PS1, had amazing hidden tracks in them, is that what went wrong. The last hidden song in this has definitely ominous opening, and turns then into this majestic composition. Most of the tracks are just these random pieces put together, albeit they contain some true gem moments too.
Can you upload the raw files, or have them in a playable state, somewhere so they can be downloaded?
I remember I got this on my old ps1 back in the day for 10 bucks and loved the creepy vibes and story always gave me the chills.
Thanks for your work! I was waiting for PS1 music from this game for many years xd
Whoa, someone else who likes this game? I'm so surprised!
I honestly forget about this game a lot but it sure would be great to get a full on remake of this I always think about it from time to time just because of the obscure ganeplay and soundtrack
This game would be amazing remade in a modern 3D perspective, it's been slept on for far too long.
Not sure what you mean by "extracted, uncompressed WAV files." as this game doesn't have audio files. Most of this games soundtrack is from samples found in the UNI3.DAT container file being streamed through a sequence, kind of like the game is telling the sound system to play a specific sample as a specific note in this timeframe.
would love to grab all sound files from this game to add to my google drive, I'm sure there are sounds effects used only on the playstation build of this game.
It's interesting how the PS1 and PC soundtracks differ from each other. PS1 sounds more horror and PC sounds more sci-fi.
This is missing the song where Kenzo talks to that voice pretending to be an automated robot feeding him lines. It's a really relaxing song.
Could you point out the song from walkthru videos or something ? We had a lot of trouble getting these out since the game was so difficult to understand, so it's possible that we couldn't trigger them all.
@@doze_d I think he means “Infomesh Kenzo” from pc version. I don’t know if it was on ps1 version of the game or not
@@ondori5509 It's in the PC Version of Martian Gothic
The music for vent run with the trimorpth has a altered version from the pc version & sounds familiar. Plus shuttle bay is altered for the ps1 that has only music & the pc version has music as well with sounds of crickets & a breathing sound.
They did some alterations to the music, perhaps they even used different takes/demo versions of the songs on PS1. Also, they didn't use pre-recorded audio tracks like in the PC version, instead, utilized the PS1 audio engine and tracker music.
I've been interested in this game for years but I want to know if it's worth a purchase.
PC version has patched, but it's still pretty iffy to get running properly. PS1 version runs just fine thru emulation/real console, but is buggy as hell.
the main theme ❤
Are the PC and PS1 themes similar but sound a bit different?
They are the same song essentially, but the PC version is an actual music file in the game's files and is properly composed, whereas the PS1 version is simplified to work on PS1's sound system. Main melody and main chords are the same.

What program did you use?
I used JPSxDEC and I got all the sound effects and voice lines but not the background music.
You can't get these out with jPSXdec as the main files of the game are packed into one file, which is in unknown container format. What we did here was to dump them out with debugging and recreating the music into PSF files that could be then played back. Complex process. Some PS1 games used this method where they had the music like a MIDI file instead of CD streaming of the whole song.

Can you recreate the whole process and upload the tutorial?
I always enjoy watching videos dealing with video game hacking.
I learn faster by watching videos.
There is no track from the Japanese garden with a stone ?
Nope, good point, we had trouble getting these out so it might well be that we missed some. Might do new upload in the future if getting back to this.
This game was intresting a bit to finish due to controls , swapping underrated that title theme i know this well never get a remake or movie (imagine that) over all good swapping characters that caught intrest nonetheless in space
Martian Gothic would make a great movie or remade in a modern 3rd person perspective.
