You are correct-Royal Mail is terrible at explaining how the process works. The application and pricing have been confusing since day one. We started creating labels only to find out that they didn't provide us with bags; we only received labels and cable ties. So, how are we supposed to leave parcels at the Post Office before we get the bags? By the way, you're the first person I've heard mention that we need to create another account for supplies. So now we have an OBA account, a C&D account, and a Supplies account. Royal Mail should make everything accessible in one place. Why is the OBA account completely separate from the C&D account? It's such a hassle. But thanks for your video-it really helped me out!
thanks for this info! does anyone know if thermal labels provided by Rosyal mail are non phenol-coated like BPA and BPS and others types of toxoc phenols?
Thanks for posting this. The 'quick and easy' set up process has taken about a month so far but I've just got the OBA confimed and so have now applied for these too. Can I ask, do you use click and drop with your OBA account linked to it? I watched the OBA tutorials and can't for the life of me see how to generate a label, it's all about paying for the services. I know how to use click and drop, so if I can use that but it lets me book collections, create labels etc using the OBA prices this would be ideal. Thanks
Yeah, you can use click and drop, that's how we do it. You should be able to create a new click and drop account using the email address you set the OBA up with (which I hope is not the same you used to use for the personal click & drop - because that would lead to problems I think). Once you've got the business click and drop set up, it's more or less the same as using a personal click and drop except you have to manifest your orders and then pay the bill once a week or month depending on your terms. It was quite a while ago I set ours up but I think it's still the same sort of set up as this
@LeftoverVenison thanks for replying. I should have waited another day because I got the email through explaining all this today too 😆 along with bags, labels, zip ties etc... I should be set up in a few days. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the informative videos. Please could you tell me which printer you use? Spending £70 rather than 200 sounds good to me. Have you had any problems with your printer? I see a lot of reviews advising to buy the Zebra printer, but I am thinking that people are just doing that to get a commission when you buy one. Thanks for any advice.
Hi there. We use this one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233660961619 (not my listing). It's just a non-branded thermal label printer. It's been running like a dream since the day I bought it. Like I mention in the video the print quality is slightly lower than on more expensive label printers but it's 100% fine for shipping labels. Hope that helps you out!
Hi you stated in a video free labels and that you can buy the printer from RM bus said you got a cheaper version can you tell me the make or send a link cheers
Hi mate, the printed I got back then is no longer for sale but I'll link you the replacement I bought a little while back: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08SJL8VY1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's £109 now...but you can get cheaper ones than that. Pretty much any thermal 6 x 4 label printer will do the job ;)
I’ve used oba for a few years for letters both large and small but only using standard 2nd class and weight in proportion meaning if the finished bag weighs 4kg with 40 large letters we then divide 4000 by 40 gives each item a weight of 100grm doesn’t matter if 1 of the items is over weight as long as the sack has 40 items and is 4kg. Can we still use this method if we was to use a final delivery service confirmation .
Thanks for this video, it was helpful, I have started selling on ebay, can you please tell me how to obtain an OBA number please? I am register as a Ltd company so not sure if this free supply service applies for me?
Mate i got Zebra 420 and use royal mail Label to print but the quality is so poor for hermes order its even hard to read I use mac, do you know how to fix it ?
Not sure mate sorry, never used any Zebra label printer. I had heard they're supposed to be the best (or at least very good), so a bit surprised to hear that you're having an issue with the print quality
Hi there, you should receive an email from your account manager with all the details (OBA account number, poster number etc). If you haven't I'd contact your accounts manager who should then sort that out for you.
Hi, so i send around 30 LL for two different weeks within a month. Every month. Not 20. Do you think i would still be eligible? As i grow this business in the future it might hit 1000 sent letters a year.
Have you got your free thermal labels yet?
I can’t Register for an oba because I don’t have an account number
@@archiet-brown5569 You get the account number once you've registered

Yes, the whole thing makes little sense. It's about time for a new video on RM - their twice yearly price hikes and so on need talked about I reckon.
