      Facts!! He is losing her & as men, we know, once you've lost your woman, she's gone!!
      I've lost one over my own stupidity & she was not replaceable & she would have killed for me & I fucked it up!!

    This was a vent session for Michi. She has a lot of underlying issues that should be addressed with her marriage. I know it’s hard to feel so unappreciated. Sharelle is definitely solid. I love how she listens, doesn’t interrupt, and empowers those around her. Like Chad said, the women are going to take over the podcast. ❤️

Paid her entire life to Uncle Sam only to die right as her time to rest was within her grasp. Don’t work yourself to death. Cut any and all toxicity from your life. Listening to Michi talk about her birthing experience made me cry, it hits really close to home. I have been a nurse for 20 years and I have seen situations like hers over and over. Black women have the highest maternal mortality rate in the US. It is simply because they don't listen to us and still view us as subhuman.

    • @Miss-Ann-Thrope
      @Miss-Ann-Thrope 3 роки тому +9

      To me, the most infuriating part is Black medical practitioners treat Black people as bad as the non-black. Black people are not safe with the medical community, sometimes we get lucky and meet someone who cares or takes the job seriously.

    • @Miss-Ann-Thrope
      @Miss-Ann-Thrope 3 роки тому +3

      @Stock Starters Taking all of your sage advice into consideration, it is a damned shame that we cannot trust Black medical staff anymore than the non-black practitioners. Michi has money and I assume good insurance, yet she was dismissed by a Black nurse. The poor and uninsured have far fewer options and practitioners know it, so they mistreat, misdiagnose, and ignore Black patients. I have been advocating for my mother's medical care since 2007, she would be deceased if I did not. If we have worked 100 Black medical professionals, 99 have been trash. I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone.

    • @StephFolling
      @StephFolling 3 роки тому

      @Stock Starters When a person is ill they shouldn't have to be a PhD level scholar on their illness to get treatment. We should be able t trust the expertise of the people who went to school and residency for a decade to treat patients properly, that's not naive that's a duty of care (Hippocratic oath).

    • @Miss-Ann-Thrope
      @Miss-Ann-Thrope 3 роки тому +1

      @Stock Starters 😂😂😂You are the expert in the room. Yeah, Ok. Just so we are clear, I DO NOT TRUST MOST THEM! Give advice to someone who asked for it, I got this! I gave my opinion about Black people believing they will get better care from Black practitioners which I see as a fallacy. People arrive at hospitals uneducated, mentally ill, mentally disabled, unconscious, disoriented, in pain, and many times alone. According to you they should know enough to advocate for themselves. Your theory makes perfect sense to a fool.

      That’s true to an extent, because he sounds like he is very educated and makes educated decisions concerning raising his children. Some people don’t realize they lack the skill or knowledge and just go off what they think which could be harmful to the children’s well being.

    • @mswestmoreland11

      @@sweetpea3249 So what constitutes a mother automatically being right about such decisions though? If a woman is in question about their partner’s (who they chose) parenting skills, then perhaps the conversation should be on another subject altogether. Just my thoughts. The points she brought up in this episode didn’t seem harmful to their child’s well-being. It appears to be more of a control factor on her part. Michi even addressed their children as ‘My child.’ There is an element in there that is dangerous and one possessed by many women. Whether that’s a cultural affect or something more-it still poses as a problem for many family units.

    @lynellwhite838 3 роки тому +47

    I want to thank you all for being so transparent in this discussion. I want to share that my wife, who is a black physician, had an experience that was similar to Michi's while pregnant. After my wife's water broke, and this is our second child by the way, we went to the hospital. She checked to see how dilated she was before we left the house. She indicated to me that she was nearly ready; so, I put my foot to the pedal. When we got to the hospital, my wife immediately let the nurse know that she is a doctor (as she is aware of the treatment that you may get as a black person). This didn't seem to matter, as we were left in the room for at least fifteen minutes after my wife told the nurse that the baby was coming. Finally, I had to speak up and remind the nurse that my wife is a doctor and has had a child before; in other words, you should take what she is saying seriously. I didn't feel like my wife was being heard, despite screaming as if she was dying... The nurse then alerted the doctor who came quickly. By the time the doctor got there, the baby was crowning... (coming out). The baby came ( the chunky dude in the picture with me) out within two minutes of the doctor getting there... My child was healthy and my wife survived, thank God. However, the level of care was very poor and we complained afterwards. Wealth and status/position doesn't always make a difference when you are black... Obviously, we know what often happens to us when we don't have either...

      I think it’s just more than putting your foot down. Hardworking men don’t know when enough is enough, especially when you come from a background of poverty. You feel like you need to do everything in the world to not put your family in that situation again. She needs to show him that she’s content with where they are now financially and she feels empty like she’s not getting to pursue her purpose. Also you don’t get to live the lifestyle if he’s not bringing in what he does. It’s a give and take situation that they must figure out together.

    Great conversation, as men sometimes we do get caught up in our own drive & determination that we forget our wife’s goals. My Wife & I had this conversation years back, I was so focused on what I was doing that I didn’t stop to think about what she wanted to do. It wasn’t necessarily intentional, I was just so focused on I am the man of the house & it is on me to make sure that my family is good! I’d get one business established & then move on to my next venture. I was so focused on building generational wealth for mine that I didn’t stop to see what my wife wanted to do. She fully supported me & I looked at I’m supporting you by just simply saying I support you, I wasn’t necessarily providing the physical, mental, or emotional support. After having a true conversation with her she gave me a true prospective & I understood where she was coming from. I had to do better & truly be there for my wife & children. Now I do so much better with this & enjoyed not only watching my wife level up in her business ventures, but also watching my children level up in their ventures @ such a young team. Now we are a power team instead of me just being the driving force.

      I think Michi has had a very different exp as a football wife (10+ years) and she needed support not a "buck up" speech. Michi's feelings are very valid and a lot of women can empathize. Further she has LIDDLES and did that during the NFL and the transition out- that's strong. Sharelle is strong (admittedly due to her PTSD and not getting the help she needed when she needed it from the VA) but Michi's strength is a quiet strength and equally valid. Sharelle in a previous episode said she left her small child in the care of her grandmother to join the military and that takes strength for "the bigger goal" as she said in this episode but at some point we may have to classify Sharelle's "strength" as detachment or disassociation which is common for PTSD survivors. There's a coldness which allows for "selfishness". I would be curious Sharelle's thoughts after a few years of marriage to Ocho. I'm sure there will be venting. Grace is always in order; cute and a Gucci bag can cover alot of undiagnosed dispositions.

I don't have a village my parents have passed... my husband and I never get a break together. I watch the kids for him to get time to himself and he does the same for me....It has to be a give and take. We both have careers, he wanted me to be a stay at home mom but I let him know from day 1.... that's not happening, I have dreams and goals too. Another amazing show!!
    Ladies, we HAVE TO take care ourselves, PERIOD!!
    A lot of the guilt that we have as mothers and wives are self-inflicted!! We are listening to society’s standard or how mama and grandma did it! It’s unrealistic because the times have changed and so has your circumstances! WE HAVE to be good mentally, emotionally, physically, and most of all spiritually in order to support, nurture and elevate everyone else! Support has to be shown by our men not just spoken!
    Counseling is critical especially for the Black community!! Our DNA is embedded with trauma and we have no idea how it’s going to show up and show out!! It’s a generational stigma that we have to destroy and it has to start before we commit to relationships and bringing children into the world! Personal accountability comes first!! I say Hooah to my sisters-in- arms once again!!! That bond is a real one!!
    Lastly, we must realize that we are women, wives and/or mothers. Postpartum, work/home balance, depression, weight gain, low sex-drive, mom guilt, and PTSD don’t give a damn about our socio-economic status. Yes, it’s relative but, these issues hit us just the same.
    Queens, y’all looked beautiful as always. Continue to share resources and experiences to support one another.

I think that is always a conversation you should have before becoming serious and having children. I am very glad I had the conversation before my husband and I got married and we did attend counseling before marriage. Women should not be afraid to have that conversation with good men! There are amazing men out there and I would hope those good men are open to hear their significant other if they see themselves spending forever with them. If there are men who do not believe in marriage and the woman you are dating does, don't string her along. I don't think the stigma is the problem as much as cost. Black people walk around gravely ill because medical care is cost prohibitive for many. They tend to be cared for through emergency services. Furthermore, the care Black people receive is often substandard even when the providers are Black.

      yes white people see going to the therapist as self care, their perspective is totally different

    People really missed Michi’s point when she was expressing that Brandon isn’t as present or helpful with the home life as she wants him to be and that it’s overwhelming. Self-care can only do so much. What she was saying is she wants him to be more present. How will a girls trip help or time away help when she is coming back to him still not helping as much as she wants.
    The ladies immediately started talking about self-care and I felt Michi in that moment. She’s literally crying out for help from him and the advice she’s getting is be selfish and take more time for yourself. That’s not what she was saying, she was saying HOW CAN I GET HIM TO HELP MORE?!
