Like say absorbing a few shots to sling them back at a foe, creating a downward slice that parts projectiles before launching you in for a devastating strike, having opportunities near a boss or enemy's very low lifebar to execute them (literally just for flair even), opening a small precision portal to send enemy projectiles back at them, etc etc. I'm a bit sad now the game is gunplay.

Most people understand it wrong: Once you beat a boss of a level, you can always speedrun that level into the next one. The access point to the next level is almost everytime random. I've even had runs where the access point to the desert was right at the begining. At the begining of every level you'll find an item that boosts your weapon damage accordingly to the level of the enemies on the current map. And you'll find permanent upgrades: the blade for melee which is strong as fu, a grapling hook that will unlock new secret areas and shortcuts to get faster trough levels (with the grapling hook you can acces level 3 directly from level 1) and other upgrades. Once you've reached level 4, you will always start from there. In level 5 you'll find an permanent upgrade with which you can acces level 6 directly from level 4. Also the more you use weapons, the stronger they get and eventually they unlock very powerful passive abilities which make the guns very powerful. These passive abilities are also permanent. Lastly the special currency Ether will also stay after you die, giving you the opportunity to buy items right at the begining of a run. So the game is imo very fair to the player. The problem is that people dont know all this stuff and raged blindly on social media how hard this game is. Seriously I had more trouble in every Souls game than in this game.
