macOS treats the Windows key as being the Command key, which is why it doesn't seem to immediately do anything The inverse is true if you plug a Mac keyboard into a machine running anything else, it'll treat the Command key as the Windows key instead.

If you are too lazy to do both option 1 or 2, than buy a mechanical keyboard already Mac OS compatable Like Keychron, Varmillo for mac, Topre real force for mac which are not various options or color choices like ordinary Windows based keyboards.

There are other reasons to not use macOS, such as the M1 Macs lifespan being severely limited... basically if your SSD dies you are absolutely screwed, it won't even let you boot to an external drive anymore. Your options: 1. Cry and never buy an Apple product again! 2. Bring that to Louis Rossmann as replacing the NAND and reflashing the firmware will fix it. Louis should be able to get that NAND for your device!

I've tested this on a Chromebook at school by plugging in a windows keyboard and pressing the windows key. All it did is bring up the search bar which opens when you press the search button that is basically the Chromebook version of the windows key.
I remember it does nothing in KDE4. And it might be the only setting you couldn't change (being able to open the menu with a different shortcut). Used to drive me totally nuts
Do you use Linux LiveCds? I asked you this beacuse TheShell had the option to install it. I am not a linux user, but i recently tried Ubuntu and Mint. They did have the option to install it, because i was running a LiveCd.

Also don't just include Windows, since some OSes have different system processes and other things that happen when you terminate them.
