This thing looks killer and they actually did something that a lot of watchmakers get wrong. The second hand and minute hand reach all the way to the minute markers and touch them. I think every watch should do that.
I really appreciate that touch as well!
Why would you want the hour hand to touch the minute markers? How would you tell the hour hand from the minute hand?
I think you meant the minute hand? Now that I've seen the watch.
@@fiddy_watchguy lol I meant minute hand
I am so not in the market for another dive watch, but their are just so many high end features (enamel dial, ceramic bezel, SW200, domed crystal, etc..) and unique, but not over the top, styling that this really has me intrigued and considering.
Best date placement I’ve seen in a long time.
Looks clean and premium. The sunken date to match the sandwich numerals is my favourite thing about it.
Same here!
@@JusttheWatch Do you review Fossil Watch? i saw a Fossil Sport Tourer Chronograph looks nice.
100%...
It makes the piece stand out in a sea of divers that just copy each other
Yep. Really like the design - especially the date execution
The amount of Dive watches out there from micro brands are staggering. So much variety to choose from.
@@RabbitWatchShopI don’t think it was a complaint, just a statement. If that comment was pointless and stating the obvious, so was yours 😉
Yeah, which is why I said "so no point in complaining OR [keyword or] pointing that out." Your last sentence is bollocks. @@lordcharfield4529

Agreed theirs so many choices in micro brand niche that it's almost overwhelming at times. I've become a big fan of Christopher Ward and Zelos. Both those micro brands are just killing it 👌
Yeah, ton of great options out there, it's cool, even though I'm more of a field watch/pilot watch kind of guy.
One if the best executed date windows out there. So many watches the dw looks like an after thought. 6 o'clock with a shape that's in keeping with the overall design and a lumed edge is really a step up from the norm.
Just pre ordered the black dial mainly because of your amazing shots and thoughts of the piece! Thank you!
It’s gorgeous and this is the best review Ive seen of this watch. Can’t wait to get my v2 this summer. I have an orange dial Windseeker and the quality and finish is top notch.
Love the look! Tuseno is NOW on my radar!!! For the price you get plenty! Great review as always!!!
Waiting for a Tuseno Shellback white dial. Should arrive this summer.
Good thing about indices like this, is that they can never fall off! Clever...
That only happens on watches you buy from wish
Ha ha!
@@multipl3I've actually seen it happen on a Helm Vanuatu
The black Shellback is the choice I would make if I hard to start collecting all over again. What a well executed dress diver. It's amazing with that flatlink bracelet, plus it has a date!
The all black one looks amazing
This is a stunning watch.
I have the V1 Shellback. I love wearing it on the rubber strap when I go to the beach. If they increased to 41mm for the V2, I would have bought it too.....
It is so good to see something different. This diver ticks many boxes. Bravo, Tusenö!
I love the influence of Panerai in the dive watch. Great look.
Thanks, Dave! It's unique, and very well done.
I have a blue one on order for delivery this Summer. Really looking forward to it. I had some issues (self inflicted) ordering it, and both Johan and Alexander were fantastic and patient helping me get things sorted, so I will say customer service is top notch. This will not be my last Tuseno!
That is a stunning watch and for what you are getting, I think it is a good value also. Thanks for the great review.
This is one of the best diver designs I’ve seen ever seen! I will definitely put it on my wish list!
This watch is very nice, and it is absolutely the same affordable category that u referenced in the beginning as 500usd watches. 699usd today is exactly what 500usd used to be 3-5years ago, with the inflation in most sectors. If u kept focusing on 500usd max watches, u'd just arbitrarily draw your circle too small these days and u'd miss gems like this Tuseno. So u did the right thing by reviewing this. I see this trend that the watch collectors i know are all going in a very similar direction, which is downsizing their collections, but opting for more specific/unique and slightly more expensive, more premium pieces.
Another fantastic review, and a beautiful watch. Want to get one just for the hollowed hour hand.
Well impressed with review and watch
Been looking at Tuseno's Shellback V2 model for a couple of months. So I appreciate this excellent review. I find the white dial version especially intriguing but I've just purchased a white/silver dial Erebus Origin and a Zelos "frost" dial Blacktip so I'm having second thoughts about adding another white dial watch to my collection. Ah, decisions, decisions.
You always have unique watch reviews. This one is fantastic..... Thinking of I really could afford it. Cheers!
I like how they placed the date window, it all but disappears!
A really fine review of fairly uncommon timepiece -- a channel specialty! Keep up the good work!
Very nice, clean design
That name though.. Tusen is swedish for a thousand, ö is swedish for an island, so the watch name means Thousand Island aka a salad dressing.
Hahaha. 😂
If this watch had a Tudor movement like the MT5610 I’d get it. Nice dials are a dime a dozen. A reliable accurate movement is the heart of the watch.
The Sellitta SW200 is a reliable and accurate movement.
This looks good, but I definitely prefer their sport watch. More original imo. Excellent review and to the point, as usual. Thank you Dave. This is one of my 2 or 3 watch-related channel.
Think I'll be taking a closer look at this watch.
Excellent, they really nailed it. Tusenö translates to thousand islands. This is actually sandbagging, Sweden has more than 90.000 islands.
Love to see the variants in Colour
Very nice watch, bezel action sounds great 👍
Very sharp!
Looks great! I hope the production units are equally good.
Great looking watch and spec for the price.
Convinced the wife to pre-order the Blue Date for my birthday (alas the White Date was sold out) - can't wait for the summer release - looks like a lovely watch 😎
Nice!
Amazing! Very nice!
Gorgeous watch!
I have mine on pre-order, in the white dial. I actually got it on the pre-order pre-order. They had it open for one day I believe, with a special price of $599.00 with an additional rubber strap. I am having a hard time waiting for this one, I hope I like it!
Cut out indices, round eh. That second hand sweep and bracelet is pretty badass
I do like the bracelet design except for the endlink/ case transition where the lugs protrude slightly beyond the endlink and the minute hand looks too long... very picky I know but this is the sort of thing that irks my watch OCD and causes me to flip watches when I buy them without spotting them. Great camera work by Dave helped me pick this up.
This a good and nice one. And I love the fact that it shares with my family name the umlaut: Maïta Agübar 😊 Cheers and new subs from Lima, Perú 🇵🇪👍🏼
I love the look of this dialand with the glide lock on bracket if they have a good color Iwant one
I had the v1 and it was an absolute torch, I’m sure v2 production models will be the same
I have the black V1 Shellback and it is a great watch. I’ve had it for a little over a year and no issues. It is a solid watch with a good design. The lume on the V1 version is good… uniform, bright and pretty long lasting. However, it could be stronger and I think Tuseno said they are going to strengthen it on the V2 but it isn’t too bad on V1. I’d rank it between the SKX and the Orient Kamasu. So pretty good and enough to get through the night.
Overall, good watch and something different. Big fan!
That is a nice looking watch.
Great video Dave even though you forgot the bezel part 😂
The watch itself? I care no more after early minutes when i saw the hour hand.
I caught a review of the Shellback on Peter Kotsa’s channel a month or two ago and really liked it. As you say, the design is really refined and does look “luxurious”, all the more so for the price. Going the extra mile to harden the clasp speaks to the company’s concern for quality. It does compare favorably to a Tudor diver. In fact, I’d rather have the Tuseno because Tudor makes stupid hand sets. I’d like to see Tuseno take on a serious tool watch in the future, particularly working with a hardened case. They might make Sinn nervous.
This is insane value. Not a fan of the design language (not a fan of divers overall), but it's really impressive.
Fantastic review as always & wow what a beautiful watch I wonder what it would look like on a bond nato strap ? I’m wondering what the cost would be for me in London with import duties 🤫. Like you said one of the best micro brands 0:10
Its a fantastic watch 😇, love mine 👌🏻
There are alot of great microbrands and then these this. I mean this looks so damn nice. Another great review as always mate.
I really like this watch! I don’t get why more watches don’t have on-the-fly microadjustment. Especially when so many microbrands are doing it.
Killer watch, love the design language. Very tempting.
I will recommend certina ph200
Have you ever reviewed the Lorier watches? That Gemini Racer in yellow is beautiful.
Perhaps “capsule shaped”markers is more accurate (and cooler sounding) than “rounded rectangles”?
The hour hand looks like a classic swedish lifebouy. Which i think is intentional considering its origin. Cool design nod.
Nice watch!
personally i like to see a logo on the dial not just a printed name but this watch seems super solid, not much to complain about, I guess I don't really like that style seconds hand and maybe they could've been more creative with the minute hand and I don't like smiley text and I'd probably prefer the number 10 on the bezel but I'm nit picking, hopefully they use lots of lume
If any watch deserved a lumed datewheel, this, this is the watch
I was going to get the Adamascus 8, but now I've seen this review I'm not sure which to choose 🤔
I love the white and SS version and it looks like the explorer 2, it’s a shame the gmt function isn’t there because I would definitely buy it. It is affordable, seiko’s prices have grown away above where they should be, you should be buying this watch instead, it’s the same price. Please review the Wise GMT root beer.
Please pay some attention to the caseback when reviewing a watch. For me, if the dial looks great AND the caseback has a cool engraving, it’s a winner. Now, I can’t really tell.
Cool watch
5:45 the pokeball hand
Love the channel and great video as well 🔥
But my personal experience with several of the Tusenö models, including the Shellback, makes me feel that no, Tudor shouldn’t step aside since they are of far better quality than Tusenö. It’s not even close 🤷♂️
The letter Ö is pronounced like the EA in heard or learn. Tusenö could be translated to Thousand Island. A nickname of the Gothenburg archipelago.
If you pronounce the Ö in Tusenö using the quite open Ö of "heard/learn/first", then chances are that you're actually from Gothenburg. In that case you have no say in the matter of proper Swedish pronunciation. Just kidding, I'm a fellow go' göbbe, and "learn" et c is close enough. :)
In this video, the strange stress of the syllables was more jarring to my delicate Swedish ears. It's supposed to be tUsenÖ, stress on the first and last syllables. Just like in gOthenbUrg, or gÖtebOrg as printed in Swedish on the dial.
I am indeed a fellow go' göbbe from the Göteborg area (Kungsbacka för att vara mer exakt). I am of course agreeing with you regarding the syllables but also the sound of the U. But to teach the proper swedish pronounciation of vowels in a UA-cam comment section is, if not hard, pointless. There's bound to be hundreds of clips teaching that already. The correct pronounciation of Ö on the other hand is a necessity. :)
Ha' de' gôtt!@@Spurdospaerde692
Thanks for the pronunciation help guys! I get what you're feeling, I speak Japanese so it's always irks me a bit to hear Japanese words pronounced by my fellow Americans.
But one thing that I've learned living in Japan is that the Japanese practice for pronouncing foreign words is to modify them to fit the Japanese language. So I hear "English" words every day spoken by Japanese speakers, and they don't sound anything like English. And when I'm speaking to Japanese, if I use "proper" English pronunciation on an English word, most of the time they won't have any idea what I'm saying, so instead I have to use the Japanese pronunciation (even though it feels totally incorrect).
All that to say, for better or for worse it's made me less self conscious about mangling non-English words when speaking English. I know it must be grating to native speakers, but it's super hard to switch accents mid sentence to really nail the pronunciation of a non-English word. pronunciation.
That is the Pokeball hour hand and you cannot change my mind.
I don’t need another Dive watch (who does) but I keep looking at the MAEN Hudson MK4 ( or possibly their GMT) and the Wise Adamascus AD8. How does the finish and value compare among these 3?
I would say it's on par with those. The Adamascus uses more interesting materials, such as 904l stainless steel in a brilliant high polish. This seems pretty comperable in finishing to the Hudsom 38 GMT I reviewed, but it's got a ceramic bezel and I think a better dial that set it apart. Maen has really clean, elegant design, the Tuseno is a little more quirky, so it kind of depends on what you're more into.
Wow. Properly ‘signed’ crown, fully milled clasp, screw in links, non-fixed mid links (from what I could tell), enamel dial, ceramic bezel… and all for that price! How is it other watch manufacturers can’t offer all these things in a £/$/€1000+ watch?
"Watch out Tudor?" While this is an attractive watch, I doubt that Tudor has anything to worry about/
How much are they paying you?
at 39mm, its very handsome watch……
I like it but bezel should have less lume and the dial more
He explained in the video that this was a prototype and that the lume on the dial would be improved for the new release.
@@pauliewalnuts5241 I know but you only need a lume pip on the bezel nothing more.
To me it looks too much as a Tudor. I'd like a Tudor, don't have a problem with it, but with this I feel I'd look like I want a Tudor but can't afford it. :)
I tried going to their website, and no success. Maybe it is just down for now?
Worked for me!
You said for $649 this watch easily outperforms watches at $500 or below so the price justifies itself. Did I misunderstand? If its 650 bucks I sure hope it's better built than $500 and below watches....
This watch has a lot to offer, but I personally hate sandwich dials, so that immediately takes it off of my potential wish list. A shame. And BTW, it's Sellita, not Selita.
Got the v1 for alot cheaper on preorder. There is very little in difference. Still average lume and flecto monster
Step aside Tudor….. No, Tudor still takes the cake!
Ehh..something is off, I can’t exactly say what 🤷🏼♂️. I like the bracelet.
It’s like looking at a hybrid car. Sure it’s an improvement or an achievement I guess but it’s not exciting.

There are literally hundreds of micro brands out there. This one stands out mainly because of the dial, which is unusual. Well executed with a beautiful finished case. I'm sure if they improve the dial lume, it will be a winner.
Hehehe, why would you even ask anyone dose he want to see one more dive watch?!
Is it just me or the "shellback" print is off centered quite a bit?
It's just you
👍👏👏🥰
5:49 That is definitely a pokeball.
If somebody was just to describe, how this watch looks like, I'd be probably like "meh, sounds boring", but in reality it's a very nice, clean looking piece. Definitely goes on my "observed, potentially to buy" list.
However, I've heard that SW-200 caliber "doesn't like" manual winding for some reason and malfunctions may follow. Is that true?
I have noticed, that - given the choice - people tend to choose various watch versions running on ETA 2824, rather than SW-200, even though it's obviously more expensive. I still don't know, whether it's a matter of reliability or just a personal preference.
I DO know, that SW-200 movements had some mechanical problems in the past. It was about one of the train wheels breaking, or something - I don't remember now and I don't want to create confusion. But anyway, I assumed the problem was refined by now...
Is that the san martin case?
Too bad it’s so small..
*Perfect size
It's a cool watch, but way too small for modern standards. Should had been 42-44mm
The large-watch trend isn't a modern standard. The trend is shifting away from large cases toward a more diminutive style with manufacturers focusing on 40mm and below with 41 to 42mm as a maximum for chronographs and complications.
@@Mike-DuBose 42-44mm isn't "large". It's literally standard mens size. 40 and below is ladies size and for those "gender fluid" gang.
