    any idea how are we considering max or min status for weight calc? hypothetical e.g. when ranking a car we would want high focus on comfort, safety, mileage and low focus on price. I am not seeing this being considered at all for calc weight.

      That is difference between Objective and Subjective weight methods. You car example was with AHP.

    Hi.are log and ln same?? The formulae states ln and the calculation uses log..Please clarify

      in general as per the formula we need to us ln only, but calculation i used log, but it does not show a major difference in the output values. i have checked it

      Here this method is used for just for calculation of weights. So it is not the selection of best alternative.

    Sir, here you are giving weights to alternatives and ranking them. Is it possible to give weights to criteria and ranking of criteria?

      Madam, here we the weights are giving for criteria only not for the alternatives.
      And ranking will be given for the alternatives.

I want to know is it possible to find out the weights of criteria without knowing the alternatives by Shannon Entropy method? Please guide. Thankyou

    the formula is with Ln, while you are using log!

      But after changing the value also there is no change in the weight values.

      Very good one, even i did not tried it. but you can use modulus for the formula and then proceed.
