I just don't get how CC2 is always deleting features from the game. Like I would love to have somehow a more complex Naruto with more moves and tricks. They removed the 4th combo long time ago, wall running, clashes, tilt (special unique technique), special shurikan ect. It's frustrating. Now they barely added any new characters, meanwhile we know exactly that there is more being sold later as a DLC. In 7 years of development this is such an incomplete game/product. The story really is underwhelming and the story characters are not even available as fighters in the game. It would be refreshing if there was another publisher bringing some competition to the table.
Arena anime fighter are just cash grab unfortunately... I would love one with real mechanics, like a REAL anime fighting game like DBFZ or even better a REAL arena fighter like the Gundam one but with an anime IP

Nobody actually knows how long this has been in development, including you, unless you have a source stating your 1 year claim. BUT, to get this at a $60 price tag 7 years apart from the last doesn't look too good. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this had 1 year of development time. Still doesn't make the price ok, tho.
Still mad they got rid of flick moves just to turn them into the second jutsu instead of idk... making new jutsu, even if it's copy paste fireball jutsu that would've been better... Also removing chakra shuriken completely kills the use of shuriken for me, can't use them to keep pressure on someone while they retreat anymore. If they wanted the chakra+Shuriken combo for the second jutsu, sure... but could've just made chakra shuriken hold shuriken button instead of taking it out..
imo i see this game as a scam, just a cash grab. The game is a thoroughly terrible, immensely pure, bastardly utter garbage of the highest order and degree, the game is not deserving for the full price tag for what it has to offer, not to mention they removed a lot of stuff on it that was from the other previous storm games, they could’ve just made it like with storm 4 but added the other missing features and new quality of life changes but no they didn’t. When they say sequel, for me that means, newer mechanics, better ways in showing the story instead of just using slide shows, has all of the major fights that happened in the anime instead of just focusing solely on filler contents that has the cinematics instead of adding those cinematics onto the actual main campaign mode itself, more new characters instead of just recolors and more jutsu sets that were shown in the anime instead of copy pasting the old jutsus not adding anything new to the other characters jutsu sets. i would’ve like if they kept all the old maps, added the other maps from all the previous storm games and added newer ones, made the campaign more easier navigate missions instead of it being a big clutter mess, and lastly didn’t removed other attack animations like the chakra charged shurikens, tilt joystick special ability, etc.

Crazy disappointed in this game. No tilt attacks for most characters (rip crow dash itachi), ("but they took out chakra shuriken and gave us a 2nd ninjutsu", great, but why remove tilts?), guard breaks practically useless now, stripped away a lot of secret super techniques. This game feels like storm 4 but with half the content/mechanics missing.
Tilts were giga broken. Glad they removed them. Since most of them got turned into Justus, it opened up a lot more interesting combo routes. I think it's a great and healthy change for the game. Also damage scaling was much needed.

There were a couple sure, so fix them, but generally, if you miss timed your tilt, you were stuck in an animation lock for a second and were f*cked. Hardly giga broken. So, going back to Itachi as our example, now itachi is a bland Sasuke clone. No super clone explosion(granted, I never really used it anyways), and no crow dash. Idk man, I feel like they made a couple of good decisions, but then neutered every other aspect of the game and then sold it back to us.
Dude guard break is worthless but literally just spam the supports and you’ll break there guard instantly. You have to spam subs basically and once you run out the game os basically over because the ground isn’t safe anymore.
Dope review, I'd say the thing that shocked me most from what I've been seeing is the reviews of the online. Dope to see that the online is as bad as before, at least right now. Also glad to see the game play is different than the previous, I never dove DEEP into the storm games gameplay and mechanics when I played but this looks cool with how the justus can combo.
Thanks for making my mind up. I had wondered how this game was going to actually be. I heard there are over 130 characters but I've see only a handful of new playable characters. My favorite thing about the storm games was playing the story and unlocking characters. Maybe I'll just delete my saves of the other 4 games and start over.
@@nirifer7275 Yea if you look up how many Storm 4 had it says 106. But they added more due to the Boruto DLC. There are a total of 124 characters in Storm 4 meaning that like around 10 have been added. But they are most likely saving for Storm 5 to add characters from Boruto.
I’m playing right now and honestly this is the most DISAPPOINTING Storm game I have ever purchased. I’ve bought and played EVERY previous Storm game and thoroughly enjoyed them at right from release. For this game they just took gameplay mechanics away and changed many characters previous tilts into a second jutsu. The gameplay is very slow and choppy when compared to Storm 4. I’m beyond disappointed
I agree with your opinion in most of the subjects, but for me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, this game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features) 2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks) 3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well) 4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion) 5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️
Storm 1 move set obviously came at a cost the game had no characters. It didn’t even have haku and zabuza. Wall running was the most there just to be there mechanic every and the qtes before hitting an ult is trash if I hit you with an ult you shouldn’t be able to get out cause you have crackhead speed on buttons. The gameplay in storm 1 is easily the worst most mashy and jank gameplay in the series chakra dash is invincible basically and you can attack a blocking opponent right after dashing. If you care about gimmicks and flash over gameplay then I could see how you could think 1 is up to par with any other storm game
I agree wholeheartedly storm 1 is literally best out of the franchise, I think it's kinda funny tho, the first game in a trilogy is normally the experiment it's not normally the best and is later improved by the sequel but doesn't it feel like we've downgraded while going forward having that storm one seems the best out of all the others, ( idk to me it feels like the other storms especially 4 is so focused on faster gameplay it's almost like it takes the fun out of it, if u get what I mean) lol that may have been a bad explanation
@@qdakid7776 You don't understand my reasons of why Storm 1 was the most unique and authentic Storm game of the series. Storm 1 it's the only one of the series that has a lot of gameplay content features from the actual anime itself: Intro of characters before the encounter/fight, wall fighting, jutsus clashes, longer and diverse movesets for each character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus etc... the only downside of Storm 1 was the fact that you didn't have a smoother evasive gameplay like in Storm Generations or 4, but just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay dynamic features, also... The Storm Generations was the last Storm Game where we had the 4th/side combo available for any character and the combos were longer and diverse, from Storm 3 they removed the 4th/side combo, and they cut and shortened the movesets especially for the PTS characters which in my opinion it's very disappointing and lazy from the CC2 themselves. Regardless of what you think, Storm 1 will always remain the closest to the anime itself because it has the most dynamic gameplay features and the vibe and charm of the actual anime. 🤷🏻♂️
@@akuto369 I genuinely don't know how you guys think that when storm 1 is one of the best entries when it's also hot mid. It didn't have a proper story mode, it skipped arcs and major canonical battles lol. It was also missing character needed to build a proper story mode like Zabuza and Haku, the sound 4, etc. A lot of people talk about the unique mechanics in this game, but wall running wasn't good, it was clunky. Jutsu clashes is a cool casual mechanic but only a handful of characters could do it. The content was lacking. Free roam? There was nothing to do in konoha. I'd even argue that rise of ninja and ultimate ninja 3 had a better free roam than whatever storm 1 did.
The comparison to Generations was interesting. A big part of that game was speed and combo structure. This new Storm game seems to have a lot of that here and that could make for a fun experience.
Very good review its excatly what i was thinking no lobbies and no nanashi and merz hurts so much and will prob never get them playable. this game will be good eventually but ppl want good now so a sale would be preferred for most ppl.
I’m playing it tonight I like the game regardless no matter what i complete understand history mode not best but. Think Ty about the achievements I am going achievement hunting however they did messed up 2 things Naruto vs saskue storm 2 fight and kashi voice line however still good game especially good roll back netcode on Xbox version I pre ordered it ultimate edition
I've never regretted playing a Ultimate Ninja Storm until this one. This honestly had the potential to be the best game in the series with the new combat system and combined boss fights from the series but they hardly put any of them in the game.
This is a big one so bare with me lol. First time in this, I was waiting for this. So we talked about this before and around 2:04, I agree with you 100% Idk where in minds they thought this was a good idea. I love visual novels but it's a time and place for that and Storm isn't the game to do that. Like you said, majority of the boss fights aren't in there and the dub has changed within so much of the boss fights, which were ass(not to mentioned why add a opening with 5 Kage vs Madara but not even in, that and Kakahi Vs Obito smh. Trash.). Like when I saw it wasn't no Naruto Vs Sasuke(S3), Jiraiya Vs Pain(S2) etc I was mad. Not to mentioned not failed QTE at all. It's like they lost their touch of what is one of the big reasons appeal in Storm in the first place. - 3:58 Customs, yea, honestly I do love how it was dish out a bit tbh. PLus we can like change our victory pose and such so that's pretty cool. I am the type to unlock everything so it's right up my alley. But yea, your are right at the end of 5:20 and end to it. - 6:40 - 8:39 Yea, couldn't agree more tbh. Took it right out of my mouth. - 8:40 I will call it Storm 4 2.0 to a degree based on only how we had Trikogy and Legacy cuz of the past and recent games into one..again. Gameplay/mechanic wise, different story but as a whole together, I just see it as i stated before. 130 characters but majority and I mean majority is the same with just new jutsu and 12+ new characters. But yea, given this game a 5/10, online is my only saving grace for it

I was soooo hyped for Storm Connections. I loved the storm series that being said Storm Connections is a straight up disappointment. Online mode is trash! I hate how they made it that you have to have a preset team to start the match, why can't I just pick a new team at the start of every match?!
The real issue with the game is the combat. Yes you have more options. But the thing is assists have been buffed most are fully invincible to physical damage. Same thing with character jutsus. Every time you use substitution jutsu you have to guess if your opponent is going to raw invincible jutsu or not. Speaking of subs damage is cranked up and when you get hit your subs dont come back. Its on a set timer. Which is very very long. Imagine getting hit by an assist that stops your combo. You won neutral but while your hitting the opponent they just start a combo instead. This game is jutsu and broken assist spam. Do not buy. Demon slayer even in lag had a better system.
I can’t invite friends. There’s no option for single online matches. There’s no online tournament mode. No endless mode. Instead they give us tournament’s against the fucking cpu and an easy ass survivor mode even on the hardest difficulty. I played some of the special story mode and I legitimately fell asleep. I swear on everything I love. And when I was awake, I kept skipping dialog and cutscenes because I was soooo bored. I’ll get back into it and try it again. It’s too damn easy to punish in this game. As soon as you’re out of subs, you can easily pull off a 100 hit combo on someone if you play your cards right 😂. This shit is insane. I wish they would’ve at least let you fully customize your character. Meaning letting us come up with our own color schemes. Matchmaking is fast af (if you’re playing on PlayStation).

The online for Connections is just bad, when you go to switch characters it doesn't even work half the time and you're decinated by the other player. There is also a bug where the substitute meter is empty yet people can still sub -_-
Always been a fan of the storm series. Despite the removing of features and mediocre story modes. But not having private matchmaking really bums me out. And no update to movesets. Sigh* so many pf my favorite games have become mediocre. Pokemon, Call of Duty, storm series.
I got this game for the gameplay and was lukcily able to fight my friends easily, but yeah, I will say that, for me at least, it was well worth my money. The gameplay is so chaotic, fun, dope, interesting, and I'm surprised how this game genuinely surpassed all expectations I had. It was honestly a better first experience for me than Demon Slayer was, and this is coming from a Hinokami Chronicles player. While it's inexcusable to not have an option to invite friends, I'll admit the gameplay is what saved the game for me, I just hope matchmaking gets added very very soon and I hope it gets easier matching with my friends and brother get easier so we don't have to have 5 or 15 attempts at linking in a game together.
Connections is way too abusive online, instant recovery, subs refill WAY too quickly, support jutsu’s are almost invincible and so much more things this game just makes you wanna play something else
As always, i was right to never buy this garbage at all but if i were to, i would speedrun this trash and get a refund because of how worthless this game is and will always be. CC2 is garbage.

Yes. This is what happens when you let ONE company own a franchise. Look at gamefreak and the lame toddler games they keep selling, imagine if pokemon were allowed to be made by Atlus or the Ghost of Tsushima people. Imagine if Bandai and CC2 let Arcsys work on their own Naruto fighter Z, things could be so much better if franchises stopped letting devs monopolize them, cause then competition would force them to increase quality and offer more to the consumer.
When you played storm you had to come in with a game plan and account for everything that could possibly be thrown your way and use you characters to your advantage now the game takes no skill

listen, a game getting nominated still a feat regardless if you feel it or not. Also Spider-Man was Nominated for GOTY at the game awards right?! it's just arguably better games in those categories that committee/judges voted on. It happens a lot in other award shows even outside of gaming. Spider-Man not winning overall anything sucks, but it's notable enough to be there in a very stacked year. Leonardo DiCaprio started at 19 and from 2005 up until 2016 was when he won his first Oscar which took him 11 years to actually win 1. Naruto Storm ain't even worthy to even be on the show but for maybe a trailer reveal. we not doing this. A game could lose every category for the next 10 years, but it being nominated is a feat alone & deserves the respect for even making especially in 2023!

this is the first anime arena fighting game I've bought, and I have to say that I was always reluctant to buy these games due to gameplay mechanics, Xenoverse 2 being the execption it seemed like everyone would abuse broken mechanics and top tier characters, and combos didn't really feel like combos, they felt more like exploits, so I had been only watching UA-cam content on them up until this point I feel like anyone complaining about Storm Connections or calling it DLC can't afford it -- not having $70 after 7 years is insanity to me -- 60FPS alone is worth the upgrade in my opinion if you were a Storm 4 player, especially since games like these live or die by their online playerbase, so I don't really care about the single player content as much combos now feel like they were designed to be apart of the game and have scaling based on their length, and jutsus function as combo extenders and defensive tools rather than just spammy moves with invicibility frames that deal flat amounts of damage additional jutsu options make lower tier characters more viable by giving them more flexibility, and even using assists in battle seems to function better than ever before all of those balance and gameplay changes combined with 60 frames and decent netcode makes Storm Connections feel like a real fighting game this time around -- this is the best that Storm has looked in years when it comes to overall presentation and gameplay, and it's only going to get better over time I fully understand people's issues with some features being missing from launch, but this is what happens when a company knows the playerbase is going to buy it regardless of its flaws, since the anime community will buy almost anything related to their favorite and/or the most popular shows

@@nirifer7275 Yea if you look up how many Storm 4 had it says 106. But they added more due to the Boruto DLC. There are a total of 124 characters in Storm 4 meaning that like around 10 have been added. But they are most likely saving for Storm 5 to add characters from Boruto.
I’m playing right now and honestly this is the most DISAPPOINTING Storm game I have ever purchased. I’ve bought and played EVERY previous Storm game and thoroughly enjoyed them at right from release.
For this game they just took gameplay mechanics away and changed many characters previous tilts into a second jutsu. The gameplay is very slow and choppy when compared to Storm 4. I’m beyond disappointed

I agree with your opinion in most of the subjects, but for me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, this game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features)
2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks)
3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well)
4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion)
5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️
Storm 1 move set obviously came at a cost the game had no characters. It didn’t even have haku and zabuza. Wall running was the most there just to be there mechanic every and the qtes before hitting an ult is trash if I hit you with an ult you shouldn’t be able to get out cause you have crackhead speed on buttons. The gameplay in storm 1 is easily the worst most mashy and jank gameplay in the series chakra dash is invincible basically and you can attack a blocking opponent right after dashing. If you care about gimmicks and flash over gameplay then I could see how you could think 1 is up to par with any other storm game
I agree wholeheartedly storm 1 is literally best out of the franchise, I think it's kinda funny tho, the first game in a trilogy is normally the experiment it's not normally the best and is later improved by the sequel but doesn't it feel like we've downgraded while going forward having that storm one seems the best out of all the others, ( idk to me it feels like the other storms especially 4 is so focused on faster gameplay it's almost like it takes the fun out of it, if u get what I mean) lol that may have been a bad explanation
@@qdakid7776 You don't understand my reasons of why Storm 1 was the most unique and authentic Storm game of the series. Storm 1 it's the only one of the series that has a lot of gameplay content features from the actual anime itself: Intro of characters before the encounter/fight, wall fighting, jutsus clashes, longer and diverse movesets for each character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus etc... the only downside of Storm 1 was the fact that you didn't have a smoother evasive gameplay like in Storm Generations or 4, but just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay dynamic features, also... The Storm Generations was the last Storm Game where we had the 4th/side combo available for any character and the combos were longer and diverse, from Storm 3 they removed the 4th/side combo, and they cut and shortened the movesets especially for the PTS characters which in my opinion it's very disappointing and lazy from the CC2 themselves. Regardless of what you think, Storm 1 will always remain the closest to the anime itself because it has the most dynamic gameplay features and the vibe and charm of the actual anime. 🤷🏻♂️
@@akuto369 I genuinely don't know how you guys think that when storm 1 is one of the best entries when it's also hot mid. It didn't have a proper story mode, it skipped arcs and major canonical battles lol. It was also missing character needed to build a proper story mode like Zabuza and Haku, the sound 4, etc. A lot of people talk about the unique mechanics in this game, but wall running wasn't good, it was clunky. Jutsu clashes is a cool casual mechanic but only a handful of characters could do it. The content was lacking. Free roam? There was nothing to do in konoha. I'd even argue that rise of ninja and ultimate ninja 3 had a better free roam than whatever storm 1 did.
The comparison to Generations was interesting. A big part of that game was speed and combo structure. This new Storm game seems to have a lot of that here and that could make for a fun experience.
Very good review its excatly what i was thinking no lobbies and no nanashi and merz hurts so much and will prob never get them playable. this game will be good eventually but ppl want good now so a sale would be preferred for most ppl.

I’m playing it tonight I like the game regardless no matter what i complete understand history mode not best but. Think Ty about the achievements I am going achievement hunting however they did messed up 2 things Naruto vs saskue storm 2 fight and kashi voice line however still good game especially good roll back netcode on Xbox version I pre ordered it ultimate edition
I've never regretted playing a Ultimate Ninja Storm until this one. This honestly had the potential to be the best game in the series with the new combat system and combined boss fights from the series but they hardly put any of them in the game.
This is a big one so bare with me lol. First time in this, I was waiting for this. So we talked about this before and around 2:04, I agree with you 100% Idk where in minds they thought this was a good idea. I love visual novels but it's a time and place for that and Storm isn't the game to do that. Like you said, majority of the boss fights aren't in there and the dub has changed within so much of the boss fights, which were ass(not to mentioned why add a opening with 5 Kage vs Madara but not even in, that and Kakahi Vs Obito smh. Trash.). Like when I saw it wasn't no Naruto Vs Sasuke(S3), Jiraiya Vs Pain(S2) etc I was mad. Not to mentioned not failed QTE at all. It's like they lost their touch of what is one of the big reasons appeal in Storm in the first place.

I was soooo hyped for Storm Connections. I loved the storm series that being said Storm Connections is a straight up disappointment. Online mode is trash! I hate how they made it that you have to have a preset team to start the match, why can't I just pick a new team at the start of every match?!
If anything, this game is making me think about getting storm 4 instead 😅
The real issue with the game is the combat. Yes you have more options. But the thing is assists have been buffed most are fully invincible to physical damage. Same thing with character jutsus. Every time you use substitution jutsu you have to guess if your opponent is going to raw invincible jutsu or not. Speaking of subs damage is cranked up and when you get hit your subs dont come back. Its on a set timer. Which is very very long.
Imagine getting hit by an assist that stops your combo. You won neutral but while your hitting the opponent they just start a combo instead. This game is jutsu and broken assist spam.
Do not buy.
Demon slayer even in lag had a better system.
Miss jutsu clashes, more on the wall gameplay, ultimate justsus for awakened states.

I can’t invite friends. There’s no option for single online matches. There’s no online tournament mode. No endless mode. Instead they give us tournament’s against the fucking cpu and an easy ass survivor mode even on the hardest difficulty. I played some of the special story mode and I legitimately fell asleep. I swear on everything I love. And when I was awake, I kept skipping dialog and cutscenes because I was soooo bored. I’ll get back into it and try it again. It’s too damn easy to punish in this game. As soon as you’re out of subs, you can easily pull off a 100 hit combo on someone if you play your cards right 😂. This shit is insane. I wish they would’ve at least let you fully customize your character. Meaning letting us come up with our own color schemes. Matchmaking is fast af (if you’re playing on PlayStation).

The online for Connections is just bad, when you go to switch characters it doesn't even work half the time and you're decinated by the other player. There is also a bug where the substitute meter is empty yet people can still sub -_-
Always been a fan of the storm series. Despite the removing of features and mediocre story modes. But not having private matchmaking really bums me out. And no update to movesets. Sigh* so many pf my favorite games have become mediocre. Pokemon, Call of Duty, storm series.
Also online is bad. If you fighting ps4 users on ps5 its almost a full one or two preset second delay on top of lag.
I can't lie i didn't even know tilts existed until storm 4 so i really appreciate the 2nd jutsu mechanic

I got this game for the gameplay and was lukcily able to fight my friends easily, but yeah, I will say that, for me at least, it was well worth my money. The gameplay is so chaotic, fun, dope, interesting, and I'm surprised how this game genuinely surpassed all expectations I had. It was honestly a better first experience for me than Demon Slayer was, and this is coming from a Hinokami Chronicles player. While it's inexcusable to not have an option to invite friends, I'll admit the gameplay is what saved the game for me, I just hope matchmaking gets added very very soon and I hope it gets easier matching with my friends and brother get easier so we don't have to have 5 or 15 attempts at linking in a game together.
Connections is way too abusive online, instant recovery, subs refill WAY too quickly, support jutsu’s are almost invincible and so much more things this game just makes you wanna play something else

listen, a game getting nominated still a feat regardless if you feel it or not. Also Spider-Man was Nominated for GOTY at the game awards right?! it's just arguably better games in those categories that committee/judges voted on. It happens a lot in other award shows even outside of gaming. Spider-Man not winning overall anything sucks, but it's notable enough to be there in a very stacked year. Leonardo DiCaprio started at 19 and from 2005 up until 2016 was when he won his first Oscar which took him 11 years to actually win 1. Naruto Storm ain't even worthy to even be on the show but for maybe a trailer reveal. we not doing this. A game could lose every category for the next 10 years, but it being nominated is a feat alone & deserves the respect for even making especially in 2023!

this is the first anime arena fighting game I've bought, and I have to say that I was always reluctant to buy these games due to gameplay mechanics, Xenoverse 2 being the execption
it seemed like everyone would abuse broken mechanics and top tier characters, and combos didn't really feel like combos, they felt more like exploits, so I had been only watching UA-cam content on them up until this point
I feel like anyone complaining about Storm Connections or calling it DLC can't afford it -- not having $70 after 7 years is insanity to me -- 60FPS alone is worth the upgrade in my opinion if you were a Storm 4 player, especially since games like these live or die by their online playerbase, so I don't really care about the single player content as much
combos now feel like they were designed to be apart of the game and have scaling based on their length, and jutsus function as combo extenders and defensive tools rather than just spammy moves with invicibility frames that deal flat amounts of damage
additional jutsu options make lower tier characters more viable by giving them more flexibility, and even using assists in battle seems to function better than ever before
all of those balance and gameplay changes combined with 60 frames and decent netcode makes Storm Connections feel like a real fighting game this time around -- this is the best that Storm has looked in years when it comes to overall presentation and gameplay, and it's only going to get better over time
I fully understand people's issues with some features being missing from launch, but this is what happens when a company knows the playerbase is going to buy it regardless of its flaws, since the anime community will buy almost anything related to their favorite and/or the most popular shows
