Star Citizens Aegis Retaliator has had it modules added, the first ship in the Star Citizen world to do so. How does it compare to its former self ? In my humble opinion its a step in the right direction and helps this ship become more versatile. BUT what do you guys think? AS always let me know down below!!
The only thing that took some getting used to was the cockpit. I liked the older ship feel that it had before; however, the new design is also good. I'm glad they didn't change the overall design too much and kept its look and submarine-like feel.
One added bonus to it being gold standard that they did not mention in the features is the new bonus feature of randomly falling through the floor depending on where you are in the ship. Some ships don't have more than one exit but with the new retaliator gold pass you get a ship where everywhere could be an exit! Loving it :-)
I would have liked to have 2 pilot controlled guns even if they were only size 3. I understand it's a bomber but even cargo ships have a couple of pew pews to play with.
CIG want a crewed ship, not sure why people seem to draw a blank on this one. ''The Overdrive Initiative'' doesn't seem to have hammered home the message. a percentage of backers are simply living in denial if they think for a second, CIG is going to do a last min turnaround and give the pilot: full weapon control/automatic system repair/a fire management magic button and an anti-boarding NPC Crew. This is a MP game at the core, always has, always will be, SQ42 is the game for you, it'll even be on console in 2025
I was wondering the same the ship is great it look amazing and it can even carry cargo with the module but I hate that it doesn't have a small turret pilot.
@Sanuske4 yes you can, or could...I think you just need to fire off all the stock ones first then you can equip the torps of your choice once you re arm it. However I have been away from the tali for a while so I could be mistaken.
Hey PIN... remember the Zeus (Mk2) ES has four Size 2 shields also, and along with the Q&A it mentions how shields and other components are going to change in the future. 4.0 is my assumption, so we'll see what happens.
Good Eve, I never gave this ship much thought until Invictus. I cant tell you I'm fond of the cargo Module, But I do love the the personnel modules on the way. You can still come in Loaded for bear. but with some troops. I want to see the new mods before I get one. But this could be great for small orgs
So much wasted space in the cargo modules, could easily fit double the cargo on those empty rooms, artificially limited capacity its bad. And the torps being shot down by every npcs its bad at this point, you cant hit anything, even starfarers shoot down the torps, that you now have to fire from 5km in the PTU and will go live like that. I know everything is subject to change, but hard to be excited on a "release" that does not work well. Also sad we cant heve at least 1 turret to pilot control, botton or upper front turret, so you dont run around defenseless with cargo modules or even with torps, a lone pilot with not even a pair or repeaters are defenseless agains a light ship. Again, i know ppl will say ITS MULTICREW.... but well, lots of ships are and the pilot still have some guns, even if little ones...
1. too bad the torps don't hit worth shit in this patch 2. changing the modules back and forth or trying to arm seeker / typhoon torps will render the torp module un-armable (there is a ticket out for it) ---- besides that its a beautiful ship xD
That's not the personnel module, that's the default "nothing" module. That's why it's empty. They have different habitation models for sale that aren't in game yet
good to hear about the flight model changes. old tali flew like a freight train. couldnt turn, couldnt stop, slow ass acceleration. a connie isnt the most nimble but wow the tali used to be so bad
It is a beautiful ship, so cool with its design language. I would use it if it had pilot weapons, however.. what if they put the turrets to pilot control if there is no on in them? But that might make the ship to op.. well it is probably slug to turn
Must be just me, but to me, this ship must have been the most laziest gold standard CIG has done, not much really has changed internally, the layout is still very unfriendly, and loads of bugs with components missing and players actually getting stuck in between the Hull if another player simply runs into you. The modules are also very meh, with both cargo modules, it carries less than what the constellation can, but you have to pay an extra $60 on top of $165 for it... for this price, you can already get a Taurus which is more than double the SCU capacity. They had to buff the turrets to s3 cause not enough people are buying it and the s2 hardpoints isn't really good for today's combat. The only good is the docking redesign, everything else is really rough, I'm sorry to say but it feels that they quickly threw something together so they can sell the ship with the modules for invictus.. don't think it really worked out well tbh. Yes the cockpit redesign is good, but as a whole, it's not enough for me to call it gold standard. Maybe a polishing pass at the most.
Gold Pass isn't necessarily a design change, but just updating mechanics to current. Though admittedly, the Tali needed adjustments to doors, hallways, and such due to metrics. They also added the horizontal dock instead of the vertical for the same reasoning (AI pathing). TL:DR - it's model is old. 😂
I wish SC had realistic physics and aerodynamics so we would have orbital mechanics, reentry and horizontal landings and airplane like flight for some ships. But it's all point and press w to go anywhere for all ships.
I wouldn't want even a slight orbital reentry mechanic. There are enough tedium added to the game and more to come, and we literally fly 10 - 20 times per game session to moons and planet, having to calculate reentry everytime would be game breaking enough to just stop playing. SC has sim elements to it there is no denying it, but it is not, nor was it ever supposed to be , a hardcore sim.
Modularity is long overdue in game and glad to see the Retaliator is kicking it off, but not including cargo modules as a base part of modular ship packages (beginning with the Galaxy and now the Retaliator) is aggravating, greedy, and petty. I guess CIG is going to CIG...
Just to clear things up, it never started with the Galaxy. It was made clear from the beginning that the Retaliator Base version never came with any modules. This wasn't a new development, or an unexpected one.
I do wonder how long before CIG sells modules in-game. I suppose the 6-month pledge exclusive is expected, but it does make for a less-than-useful ship for those with only the base.
@@therajakx1604 I would suspect it would be for that period of time as well. I've got a base pledged myself and I'm not mad about the situation. Even though I understood what I pledged for, and they were clear it didn't come with the modules, it does suck to have to wait to use the ship for any real purpose.
@@PIN-o7 what about it do you not understand mr whale that has no impulse control regarding their finances? the modules are not available for people who dont purchase them with real money.

yes its a better ship now than it was thats for sure. Amazing option for small orgs, just needs extra TLC
My only question is, can You unlock ports and rearm torpedoes from within? That is the nr 1 functionality I need for the Tali to be viable to me.
I hate that the Gold Standard nerfed the Talis HP by 200k.

its very buggy, i had to install the modules i wanted then just reclaim the ship for them to work.
More PT boat than Submarine. Submarines are stealthy, the Retaliator isn't.
