    I am a boat builder a sailor and more . Haven’t you heard about a wind scoop? It is held up with any line for the jibs upfront and inserts into the front hatch no matter which way the wind is blowing it puts the breeze thru the boat cabin. It’s like a tiny sail. Pouch looking thing with a stick at the bottom. Only used at anchor when it’s not raining.

    Hi Becca & Zac as for acclimatisation I lived and worked in the Middle East for 5 plus years and year. You do become accustomed to it but after 18 months I would say. As for sweaty you will always be the sweaty one because you are the ones working in the Midday sun and doing it at a pace you always have. I worked outside on aircraft in Saudi Arabia and on a 12 hour shift I would wear 3 sets of overalls and drink about 6-8 litters of water. you will observe the locals will not be out in the sun and when they are it is working at a snails pace so no sweaty people

    Thank you for your music, your vocabulary and your editing skills of images. We understand perfectly your confusion of check-in regulations.
    We compliment your honesty, as well's solutions to what's becoming more and more confusing in boating today. You're among the very few sailing couples on UTube sincerely pursuing your dreams. We are, indeed, privileged guests aboard Teulu. Blue skies.

    I was born and raised in the tropics, lived 90% of my life in the tropics or, at "worst", the sub-tropics, and while I wouldn't claim that I "don't notice" the heat, I certainly mind it a lot less than I minded the cold I experienced in barren places like The Netherlands, or even France and Italy!

      Certainly more than one full season. I lived in the jungle for several years on an island in the Andaman Sea. Things settled down sometime in the second year. I don't get uncomfortable in the heat/humidty so I didn't care too much but other folks did. Many locals also. @@TeuluTribe

    I never did get used to the heat in 5 years down there. I learned how to pack a better cooler of fluids and ice and I learned to drink less alcohol (without liking that gem of wisdom at all) and I learned to appreciate those who wore the most reefed down two-piece, but that's all. Cheers

    It will take a few years to get to where you feel the weather the same as a local does. And while that happens, you will first notice that you feel cold in conditions that previously wouldn’t bother you at all.

    Hi Teulu. I laughed when you were trying to contact the Spanish guys and calling yourselves Too-Loo. I must admit, that's how I pronounced it, before you corrected all of us. I lived in Pembrokeshire for six years, back in the early 1960's and I could never get my tongue around Welsh words. Trecwn, Scleddau and Min-y-Ffordd, were about the level of my achievement. Thankfully, a lot of the local names around Fishguard were English, so I didn't make a fool of myself very often, but the local schoolkids and my Teachers, really used to take the mickey out of me. Never been back there since, as it wasn't a particularly happy period of my life, due to constant bullying by my classmates. That said, the girls mainly seemed to be happy to talk to me... which is probably the reason the boys hazed me so much. Hey Ho! Ain't Life Grand. Thanks for another great episode. Shame that 'Officialdom' likes to make life difficult for visitors. You'd think they'd get their act together and locate their offices close to each other, but that's probably much too logical for them. Fair Winds. Russ.

    • @TeuluTribe
      @TeuluTribe  Рік тому +2

      Hahaa the Welsh names can be really complicated! We still get stick for our pronounciation on our previous Welsh videos 😂 i think Curacao was far more interested in making it easy for cruise shippers than cruisers but hey ho, isn't that just life! Glad you enjoyed the vid Russ

    This might cause some people to become indignant but here it is:
    There's a genetic component that's involved in your ultimate ability to heat adapt. Not everyone can reach the same levels. This goes for cold adaptation as well.
    Wearing sunblock reduces the efficiency of sweating and makes your sweat bead. I know from my time in the Bahamas and Thailand the locals don't wear sunblock so you're two points down.
    The army tries to do minimum 2 weeks warm weather acclimation before deploying in to warm weather combat zones, at 3 months you get to a lot of what you're ultimate acclimation will be and my friends who moved to Thailand from the states say they noticed minor improvements out to 2 or 3 years though they weren't sure if they were handling the heat better or simply less tolerant of the cold.

  • @threedprintedmarinetechnol3330

    It takes a couple of years in a continuous hot climate before you get acclimated.

  • @gregeconomeier1476
    @gregeconomeier1476 Рік тому +1

    Acclimatization....Several decades ago Tulane University's School of Tropical Medicine conducted a study that determined when you move to a tropical climate your body adjusts by growing significant additional density of capillaries around the surface and underneath your skin and, an significant additional amount of blood to infuse those capillaries. This basically increases your body's efficiency at dispelling heat.
    This may take as much as a year to completely complete depending on your body's health.
    When I moved south to New Orleans I think it took about a year to transition.

    I live in the SE of the US and have been here my entire life. (45) You don't get "acclimated". You just mentally get used to it. It helps to wake early and get yourself in the heat early and just start sweating. Once you start sweating, you don't notice that the temp has risen 25 degrees in about 4 or 5 hours. You just are hot and sweaty...all the time. (edit: you guys wear some really "stuffy" clothes for your environment)

    Hi Teulu. I spent six years of my childhood living in Gibraltar and never aclimatised. I'm one of these people who don't cope well in the heat. It's been in the low 30's this past week and I've really been suffering; so bad, I had to cancel two days out with friends, which was very annoying, but the thought of London in 30+ degrees, was too much to contemplate. I'm Jealous, as I'm a big fan of Cacti. I'd love to visit the Mohave Desert, but wouldn't cope with the heat. Life gets tedious, wot? Don't Eat the Apples!!!.

    You need weather protection on deck...sun in this case your fair skinned 🇬🇧 Brits... And if you even get a moderate burn it reduces your ability for up to a month to cope with higher temperatures sun or no sun.
    A heat reflecting tarp over the deck with an air gap will lower your temperature
    Below ..if you can draw cool air from overboard then push it through a dorade orvopen hatch you get added cooling .Cats do it by rigging intakes under the bridge deck see sailing oceans Trimeran and they have a long drop head in the middle of their Neel trimaran that they can leave the door open on and the hatch below to draw cool air up through😂.😂 😂😂

    Hello. Have you bought that catamaran or trimaran yet?
    I was thinking to help grow the channel, why don't you get some pets? Like a pack of Huskies and perhaps an attack parot or two?
    Maybe a monkey with a penchant for Port, a hook for a hand and a mild case of Chlamydia?

      Oh, it's the pack of Huskies that concerns you? Not the attack parrots or the drunk monkey with an STD?
      Interesting.

    They key to dealing with the heat is wearing less clothing while you get accustomed to it. People who were born there don’t sweat unless they’re working hard, as you two would be in Swansea before you got sweaty. Don’t be shy, just go for it. Underclothes have no place on us northerlies in the tropics!

      We usually wear less but also need to protect our skin, its a bit of a double edged sword at the moment!

    It's really uncomfortable to watch Zac disrespecting and pushing at boundaries. "We are having fun" no, you're having fun, at someone else's expense and enjoying their clear distress/uncomfort :/

      Well I wasn’t at all concerned, hence why I was laughing. If I was, he would have stopped 😀
