The 4 colour spiral has always been one of my most viewed free tutorials on my website, so it seemed like a good idea to film the technique for a video. I hope you will enjoy it. I would love to hear suggestions of different beads to use for this braid.
Very helpful; I tried your tutorial a few years ago & it worked out well! Can you explain how to use this technique to make a 3-color stripe beaded spiral, where I want the colors in this order: A, B, C, B, A, B, C, B, A . . . . And so on. Thank you!! (Can’t figure out how to do it…)
What I'm trying to find out is the correct sizing for a bracelet as the beads take up the inside space and a 7"long bracelet may not be long enough to go around a 7" wrist. Does that make sense?
Yes, that does make sense. Bracelet sizing is one of the most difficult parts of jewellery making. The easiest way to get this right is by checking your braid around your wrist before you take it off the disk. The last part of the braid will be too close to the disk for you to get around your wrist, so you will have to estimate that part and don't forget to take account of the size of the clasp you are using. You can also buy bracelet sizing cones or bead boards for bracelets, which can be helpful.
@@Prumihimo Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. That is a good way to estimate the sizing and I'll use that trick. I've done kumihimo off and and on over the years and never knew I could incorporate beads into the braids. I was wanting to purchase one of your disks but see they are out of stock. Do you know when they will be available again? Thanks
I love how you've made this simple to understand the pattern!! Can u do a similar breakdown for a 12 strand kumihimo? I would love to be able to use my 8 strand patterns with 12 strands so I can use a rope center and make larger pieces :-). Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge. I am greatful!
Thanks Surina. The necklace is made on my own invention, the Prumihimo disk. This disk and the tutorial can be found on my website. prumihimo.com/shop/
Just love all your videos thank you 😊. At the moment I am just making the cords for the Mochila bags, not sure if you are familiar with them ?, but later now I have the basic disk would love to make some Jewellery for gifts mainly, so can you please suggest a basic kit to start me off, thank you in anticipation. Regards Patricia.
Hi Patricia. For beaded braids you will need to have a new disk which has not been used for thick cords. Then you need S-Lon or C-Lon beading cord, 0.5mm diameter and some size 8 seed beads. You will also need a 50g weight, which you can buy or you can improvise with a bag of coins weighing 50g. If you want to make necklaces you could buy 8 bobbins, but for bracelets you can just use a stop bead or a slip knot. I hope that helps.
Hola buenas noches gracias por compartir , disculpa podrías colocar por escrito el.material que utiliza para estos brazalete y la cantidad soy de Colombia y solo hablo español gracias un abrazo bendiciones
If you are making a bracelet the best way is to use a stop bead. This is a size 6 bead (or similar) which is threaded onto the cord after the beads. Then pass the cord through the bead again in the same direction. You will be able to move the bead up and down the cord to keep the beads close to the disk while you are working and to be able to release more cord as you need it. For necklaces it is best to use bobbins because the cord lengths are much longer and the cords can get tangled.
I’m so glad you showed the pattern, mine were coming out wrong, thank you so much. 💖🌺
Very useful to understand how to position your beads in order to make a spiral. This will be useful to try on different patterns. Very much Madame ☺️
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will work on that for a future video!
Another aha! moment. I had been loading each color onto a separate cord. Can't wait to try it the right way.
I want to do a 4 colour spiral braid but I'm not yet ready to use beads. I just want to use cords only.
Hi Pru, love your tutorials. Love to learn how to make your necklace you wearing.

Thank you Alexa. I do have tutorial for this on my website. It is called Fantasy and it is made on my Prumihimo disk.
Is there a way to make a 5 color spiral I just got a beautiful bead mix with 5 colors
Hi Prue, I’ve tried it without the beads and it looked great. However, although I followed your instructions, I didn’t get any spiral.
Hi Pru, can you teach how to make necklace that you wearing please
Can you us regular 12 strand kumihimo patterns by stringing the same beads on the same colors of thread.
These patterns are only for 8 cord round kumihimo, but if there is enough demand I can work out some 12 cord patterns for future videos.

Thank you so nice newstyle
Thanks Maria.
How do you do a 4 colour spiral cord without beads?
Try a 16 cord braid with 4 cords of each colour. Place the cords in pairs with the same colour opposite on the disk.
Los subtítulo en español por favor.
How do you stop the beads coming off the cords please ?.
If you are making a bracelet the best way is to use a stop bead. This is a size 6 bead (or similar) which is threaded onto the cord after the beads.
