    WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I have searched you tube for such a long time looking for different type of jewelry that I can make with my arthritis hands, came across kumihimo and find out that I was able to do it without too much pain so I got hooked to it. Looking today for a diffent flat design I came across your videos for the very first time, my lucky day. I love your designs and also your tutorials being so well explain in detail. So now you are in my BOOKMARKS. Thank you sooooo.much for sharing your talent. Greetings from Florida

      Hi Margarita. I am so pleased to hear that you can do the kumihimo without too much pain. It is a great way to make jewellery. However, the movements are repetetive, so don't overdo it in one session.

    Another life-changing lesson in the amazing versatility of kumihimo!! What I mean is that I have all the things necessary for this technique but never thought about using them this way. Can you see the sparks fly from my brain? :-) You are such a good instructor!

      I am so pleased I have been able to introduce you to something new. This was such a useful technique when I worked for Jewellery Maker because I would often be given beads which were unsuitable for working into a braid. This way I could always make a kumihimo necklace even with the biggest beads.

    Bravo!!! Elegant connections have always been my sticking point. I imagine many applications of this attachment method.
    As well as larger beads, I'm thinking focal sections using:
    bead embroidery , soutache, filigree, glass buttons, etc., w. perhaps a backing to nestle an even larger loop in. As well, one could add 11 -0's to the wire for a finished look. See what you've started, Pru?!

      Prumihimo Thank you so much Pru! I have so many beads that I just could not work out how to use with Kumuhimo because they are too large and the holes are too small. Now I can go wild and use anything! Fabulous technique! I'm really looking forward to the next video.

      They sound perfect! You can have fun using different combinations of cord colour in the braid and this will bring out different qualities in the pearls.

    Great video. I have made similar focal point necklaces but to avoid the beading thread loop showing I slip a large whole bead over the cords before putting on disc which works well other Slon cord. Also to hide join I make a wags wicone from wire and slip this on before setting onto disc. Viv, Stockport

    How much cord do you need to complete the necklace?

    • @Prumihimo
      @Prumihimo  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on the length of the beaded part. Decide how long you need the sides to be and then multiply the finished length by 3 for each side.

    Hello, beginner braider, slightly less jewelry beader, here. I am a trifle confused on how to make both ends look the same from the video. I will admit maybe her braiding video says how to, so I'm going there next, but if anyone sees this and could answer me, I'd appreciate, thanks!

    Thank you so much Pru. Would it be possible for you to share specifically which beading wire you used?

    • @Prumihimo
      @Prumihimo  7 років тому +1

      I used a very cheap one made by Jewellery Maker, the sort of thing which is sometimes sold as tiger tail. Other brands are Beadalon jewellery wire which comes in different versions, such as 7 strand, 19 strand etc. Use whatever you have to hand and if you need to buy some just go for a cheaper one. The more strands the more expensive they are and for this you do not need an expensive one.
