- Join us in our latest vlog from Alton Towers where Shawn & Charlotte spend the day at the park enjoying a variety of our favourite rides and attractions. We share a mixture of on and off ride footage from across the park including a look at the many different refurbishments throughout the themed areas for the 2018 season. This includes a look at the new features on Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back, the Nemesis Station refurbishment and much more.
We also enjoy Wicker Man and share off ride footage of the parks new wooden roller coaster in action. We also jump on board The Skyride for an aerial view of Wicker Man and the surrounding area. All of this and more in our most action packed vlog of the season so far from Alton Towers!

Just got back from Alton after going today, so quiet, and got to ride smiler for the first time!! It was amazing! Rode oblivion twice and did all the big rides
Alton Towers getting rid off single riders reminds me off Apple removing the headphone jack. A useful tool unnecessarily removed for profit smh.

I'm going to Alton Towers for the first time in a couple of weeks and I had no idea about the gardens! I will definitely make sure that I check them out, thanks Shawn.

The problem with people seeing the gardens is they don’t have time due to the lack of hours the park is opened. It’s a shame really because they are stunning. Looking forward to that History vid buddy.
i am a year late lmao, and yeah. if you purchase a regular day pass, a lot of people just rush to do all the rides instead of fully enjoying themselves, like the towers, the gardens. but if you have a Merlin/season pass you don't have to worry which is nice
I'd probably cry tears of joy if they removed the guns from Duel and focused on making it a really great ghost house like before.
Was cutting edge back then, maybe they can have some more modern effects and make it stand up to modern standards,

I think Duel should go back to being a normal ghost train. The new soundtrack doesn't fit the whole laser shooter premise

Well...there you go : the special connection you have with Alton Towers, I have with Efteling.....I've grown up up with it, seen the changes ( which some I indeed did not agree with in the beginning, but got to grow on me later on) and I will always support Efteling for their never ending endurance, quality and magical effect on people.

the park is defiantly starting to come back to life i totally agree but i would say give it a few more years and the park will stat coming back to life like it use to be being really packed

Nemesis: Sub-Terra was refreshing & we so need lots more with live actors & plently more like this, this country dont see enouth entertainment ilke this like the other parks in Europe ect,, The Wickerman is th way forward to & start concentraiting on making Great Theme Areas & start make it look out of this world, to me we lack so much & im sure would be a better hit ,, more side entertainment needed by far ;-)
I was at Alton towers the day after this!! Also the cable cars where open.
I love the queue for nemesis
jake scales in the strangest way possible it’s an enjoyable queue😂For example, I hate queuing for Rita, but I find the nemesis queue so good😂🤷🏼♀️
It’s still great to see Nemesis Sub-Terra back open. 2018 is a throwback to when it was not being used but when 2022 came, they decided to clean it up and replace the flooring with new wood. When Nemesis is done, the platform will be gone and the rest of the queue line will be changed with the floor clear of weeds.

I was “observing” the queue times for 3 weeks before I went. Is that bad?
The gardens are underrated, it’s what makes the importance and history of alton towers, and it’s really nice for people who don’t enjoy the rides or want a break to just go through the gardens and appreciate the nature that is adjacent to the incredible rides and technology

The train for corkscrew is in Heidi park on germany
They should just make it a ride and don’t change anything about the track keep the same just with a train running on it
The trains are now running on Big Loop at Heide Park in Germany!
Nemesis Sub Terra reminds me of Extra Terrorestrial: Alien encounter which was at Disney world. I think they will either demolish Nemesis Sub terra or reopen it. I think it’s a 20% chance of it being demolished and 80% chance of it reopening.
Nemesis sub terra will never reopen as the ride needs a part which only the manufacturer can produce but unfortunately that manufacturer went bust a few years ago so that's the reason it's a sitting duck i only know this through asking one of the staff who told me the reason a few years ago

I went on 1st april at last! it was absolutely heaving as it was travelers day... which i didnt know until day before.. but was an amazing day still. didnt rain as it was due to so that was nice :). love the wicker man!!! the cue line, theming, train, ride, experience, pre show! its all amazing and i was so so impressed with the shop and merch. didnt get to ride duel or mine train as no1 wanted to go on it as they thought its boring!! couldnt believe it didnt want to ride alone....but duel is looking fab!
"It won't be perfect until the guns are removed". Couldn't agree more with that statement! Please tell me that this is a possibility. I do miss the old, gun-less haunted house, without all of those horrid little LEDs!

It’s in Mutiny Bay I think
Your birthday is on June 5th so you have plenty of time to find out.
It’s right opposite the entrance for the rapids, just look on a map when you get there, pretty sure you get them for free when you go through the entrance.
It's located in Mutiny Bay, close to Wicker Man

Glad you guys didn’t go to Chessington on Thursday this week as at 3pm they had counted over 13,000 people and the carparks closed as it was at max capacity
Question, how much of the towers are they able to restore? How much will they? And how long will it take? I would go and pay extra to go and walk around maybe put old restore furniture in it would be lovely xx
They are restoring the towers gradually it takes a long time because it's a grade one listed building any restoration requires planning permission and it's very costly to restore as it's a huge complex building but you can go around and look inside the building
They are planning to keep restoring different sections at a time however it costs a fortune!

Yeah I agree, The Smiler is way better. However, think of when they were built. Nemesis is the 2nd oldest coaster in the park, The Smiler is the 2nd youngest. Nemesis is my 2nd favourite ride though lol
Nemesis has much better theming plus unlike the Smiler the soundtrack isn't annoying

For me my restraint was quite loose so it felt like I came out of my seat a bit but it's probably because I'm light. You do get a kind of aggressive feeling in your stomach the first time you go on it and it feels like it lasts for ages.
In regards to you saying "give the wicker man time, it's a new ride", I get that, but unlike rides such as Air, which were world firsts and experimental, Wicker Man is just a wooden coaster. Blackpool have been running woodies competently since the 1920's, why is this woodie having such teething problems? Could it instead be down to poor staff training on Merlin's part as its the operating staff I feel really sorry for in times like that.
When Charlotte said “I’m going to the theme park entrance and mutiny bay” I thought she was going for another Hot Dog 😂
I must have been subscribed to your old channel when it had 50 or so subscribers, I remember when all enthusiast channels seemed to all have less than 500 subscribers. I remember actually having nightmares for weeks with the original Haunted House back in the day. Then they went all Resident Evil 6 On it and added guns which in my opinion detracted from the scare factor. I eventually got used to the guns and enjoy it but not as much.
Looking forward to going next week. Will be riding The Smiler for the first time as it was shut last time following a tragic accident. I am looking forward to giving Wicker Man a Little Ride or two as I love wooden coasters. Love Alton Towers!

It has that dark side, but it also has what I call the purple side, with cloud cuckoo land, spin ball whizzer, and towers street. They all have a great magical feel to them, that I have loved Since I was younger
