  • In this video we will have a look at the Pico Mod from Erica Synths. The Pico Mod is an envelope generator as well as a VCA.
Update: The Pico Mod can also act as LFO when no Gate is plugged in. You can find the addition video here: • Erica Synths Pico Mod ...

Cool demo but it's a shame you forgot to mention the LFO functionality ... When there is nothing connected to the Gate input the Pico Mod self oscillates... Attack/Release buttons allowing for shaping the signal (and its frequency). This is a very important point, making the Pico Mod (almost) as smart as Maths (one voice) or Befaco Rampage (that are both bigger, more expensive but also offering a bit more to be honest).

Hi Olivier, that is indeed a shame! I did not know that the Pico Mod has this functionality. This makes it an even more versatile module. Thank you for sharing this with me!

@@SundayAfternoonModular Module knowledge should be shared everywhere even at school, it's a part of the meaning of live :-)
The Erica black HADSR EG (a bigger boy!) has the same functionality (but with a switch). (and perhaps the Black VC EG too but my rack being off I can't check to be sure). I think it is the Erica's way of doing ADSR. And they're right, this is adding a cool feature..
Waiting for the next video !

So the envelope is normalized to the VCA?

      Hi John Doe
I hope I'm getting your question right. With the Pico Mod, you patch a gate signal to "GATE", and and the audio signal you wish to modulate to "VCA IN". So the envelope out is only used when you just want the envelope function but want to patch to another VCA module.
So yes, you could say that the envelope is normalized to the VCA.

Yes thanks. When I first saw it I wasn't sure if you had to patch the envelope into the VCA. Neat little module. Looking back, yeah it's pretty obvious. lol
