A CHRISTMAS SONG??? Oh my lord, I did not know this was the christmas song when I hit PLAY. I was surprised. In a great way. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
THE MOMENT HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! Here we are at the release of Voyage! This is my reaction to the first song I have not heard yet! I hope you liked it as much as I did.

What I particularly like, is that they did not write the Christmas Song from the perspective of children, but from the perspective of parents now. ABBA are adults now, have children ... just like me. I can empathize with this feeling so well. Wake up on Christmas morning, lying in bed, children screaming and playing in the living room,... Times have changed, but Christmas feelings remain. Brilliant!
Good point regarding the perspective. I don't really like Christmas songs but when this song ended with the choir singing "It could be a song that my grandma sings", I teared up a little because for me, the grandmas referred to Agnetha and Frida. It was probably not meant exclusively that way but it's still one of those magical things that ABBA gets right so often: Finding a way to connect to the one who hears their music.
And what a christmas this will be with a new christmas tune from freakin' ABBA!! Absolutley love it!!! ❤️

Look at me, a metalhead all my life. I cried like a little child the first time I heard this song. Melody and lyrics are beautiful and very toutching. Maybe my favourite one on this album.

It’s a perfectly understandable response. This release album is a very emotional thing for many, many people around the world, and I too have been emotionally affected far more than I ever expected that I would.
How thrilling and what an honor for the children in this choir to look back on in the years ahead and know that they had a small part in what is arguably one of the best pop groups of all time's last album. They can't possibly comprehend what that means at this stage of their lives but I'll bet their parents can. How proud they must be!!

Frida’s warm vocal is perfectly suited to this track… giving me callbacks to I Have a Dream and Like an Angel Passing Through My Room in terms of the whimsical, childlike composition.
Well it’s a duet but Frida’s voice is higher in the mix at times

This song goes far beyond the Christmas spirit, deep into the essential parts of humanity.
I dont understand why shouldnt they know. They are like everyone else. But they can put their feelings and thought into songs and sing and play their hearts out :)

Soooo great 🥰😍🥰 But would you like to know the saddest thing about Voyage? The last song "Ode to freedom". It is the last song on the Album. It is the last song of Abba to say goodbye and make peace with it. Peace with Abba. Now, in this case, you have to hear "Ode to freedom" and think about my words, that this is the last song ever. Goodbye Abba and thanks for everything and beeing part of my life. Lets treat this unbelievable treasure with care and love 🥰🥰🥰

I can see that in the song Ode To freedom song too, but remember the over arching theme is that freedom is undefinable by it's nature it cannot be an end or a beginning it means everything. Maybe it means being free to finish but it could also mean being free to make another 10 albums. It just means they can do whatever they want to forever. :-)

I was hoping very hard for a Christmas song to be in the Album, as that's the only thing we haven't had by ABBA until now. And they delivered ;-;

The first today that made me cry. I'd already read it was an Xmas song (ABBA's FIRST!) so I expected it to be like other ABBA calendar/event songs (either schmaltzy like "I Do x5" or depressing like "Happy New Year"). Instead it's full of tenderness. It's very "Like an Angel..." or "Slipping Through My Fingers" but happier. The choir is of course classic "I Have a Dream". STUNNING song. It builds so beautifully. The Agnetha/Frida "third voice" is on point here - it pierces straight into even my childless cynical heart 😂

This song, and Just a Notion, have done something really unique and is not really the classic ‘third voice’… they are the first two songs, I believe, where both women are singing at the same time, but one is clearly a lead and the other is much quieter singing a harmony. ABBA has never, to my knowledge, arranged the women’s voices in this way. Usually they sing the whole song together in equal balance as a third voice or one sings a lead vocal on their own for part of the song and the other woman joins in at the chorus. When I heard Just a Notion, I was pissed that they messed with the ABBA sound and clearly pushed Agnetha’s vocal forward and reduced Frida’s but now I see they did the same thing, in reverse, here for Little Things and it’s making me think this was a deliberate choice by the group to experiment with their sound somewhat. It’s ‘now and then combined’ I guess where they are trying something new with the same two voices.
There will never be enough ABBA-Songs in this world 💛🙏

Got to be one of the best Christmas songs ever written. The subtle nuances in the music and melody is beyond description. Man, you must be proud to be a Swede. Many years ago in Dublin, I didn't get tickets for the only concert. I was just old enough to meet two friends who had just gotten engaged. We were in the front lounge of a hotel in Dublin. Time passed and the concert ended and Bjorn, Agnetha, Benny and Frida were back...to that very hotel. Anyway, long story short, we were invited by Bjorn to a little late night sing-along and a drink. Made my youth!!!

ABBA are making the world cry. Very bittersweet. I hate the words last and goodbye, but as we all know this is the last album. I've been in tears far too much today, but it's so good to have this album. One thing I do hope is that they'll bring out an album of the re-recorded classic songs of the ABBATAR show, so we can be joyful and have a good dance once again!

Great little song but I get really iritated with some comments claiming this is a Frida lead. This is both Frida and Agnetha in absolute perfect vocal union. This is the sound of ABBA not a Frida solo recording. You would never get 'Little Things' on a Frida album (and yes I do love her solo work as well). I am so sick of the over commercial aspect of christmas and although I wasn;t expecting this extremely simple arrangement when I heard 'ABBA have a christmas song' its quiet charming and, this should be a reminder that the little things' of being with family, friends and loved ones is what its all about...not how much money gets spent.

This will be my first Christmas without my parents, and I dread it. I lost both of them this July. Like your own, my childhood was nothing but a collection of happy memories, and Christmases were filled with joy of little things. This song sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. This is hard. Folks, enjoy it while it lasts.

This song strikes me as a bookend to "Slipping through my Fingers," a ballad about the passage of time and her daughter growing up too fast. "Little Things" comes round full circle, enjoying watching their grandchildren.

You have a huge heart, my friend... awesome. Many people I have seen have thought this song the weakest link on the album, finding it too sugary. I think it has one of those beautifully simple yet clever Benny melody lines (as you can hear in the piano introduction), and the light touch on the arrangement is just amazing. I was slightly surprised when Benny's Red Cross Ringtone features at the end, shortly afterwards becoming Godnattvisa with BAO. Lots of piano on this album which was, sadly, quite rare on Visitors.

I'm about to watch your reactions to the rest of the album. I just watched , When you Danced with me. All I can say is I am looking forward to THIS particular reaction bc I can't stop crying since the 1st 2 releases and it's complicated but I may be a grandmother in a few weeks, pending paternity! So this one especially tugs at my heart for obvious reasons. I was in their Fan Club as a little girl . I am 50 and couldn't believe they did another album. I literally found out after the 1st Voyage song release from my parents! I heard about all the offers over the yrs and the gossip that I gave up hope and had NO clue what they were doing the last 4 yrs. I LOVED what they did with Mamma Mia. My kids grew up with ABBA ofc and when the DVD came out, we bought it 1st day. I was blown away. I didn't even know the story of Mamma Mia till I saw the DVD. (I had little ones to raise lol) I sang every single word except for, ya know, the few changes in lyrics to match the story and at the end I said OMG I HAVE to watch that again!! My oldest was 11 yr old and said, "Why? You've already seen it a million times!" It was funny I said ohhhh noooo!!, I've listened to ABBA a zillion times but never saw this, it's brand new! LOL TY GevenToe and TY ABBA! ❤❤❤
