Thank you for uploading all these videos - it's strange and cool seeing them after so many years! I had a big crush on Spencer when I was 6 or 7 in the mid-80s - being fickle, I moved on to Daryl after Spencer left, then Gianni (whose name I never knew up to now)!!
You're very welcome - I hope they're bringing back some happy memories! It seems that all Emu fans can be split into two groups: those who sat quietly and watched, and those who recorded the show so they could go back and learn the dances. Which were you? :-)
VideotapeFTW Definitely the former. We didn't have a VCR until the early 90s, so I watched it religiously (at the expense of everyone else in the household) and savoured it every week. Then talked incessantly about Spencer the rest of the time!!
lolavox78 Aw, you missed out on half the fun by not being able to do the dances... Still, I'm impressed by just how clearly you remember certain details, considering you only saw these shows once!
you are amazing, a diamond, a true amazingly amazing person to have uploaded this pllleeease we need more grotbags and Emus world as i can only rememember alittle from my childhood seriously welll done amazing job, and whocares about the quality its good any stuff is better than non at all which is what we've put up with for sooo long!!!!! Serioduly well done!
Thank you very much - that's a relief! It's shocking how little info there is on these shows nowadays, so I thought I'd at least put in writing a few facts I've picked up.
The songs in this episode (since they're not in the description): 1. Dancing in the Moonlight (originally by King Harvest; arrangement based on Liza Minnelli's version) 2. That's What We'd Like For Christmas (originally "That's What I'd Like For Christmas" from the musical "Pickwick")
This went out, live (apart from the obvious pre-recorded bits, of course) as the series did, on Tuesday 15th December 1987, as an extended special. I wonder if the future members of Toploader were watching this... Thanks for sharing. Like the Pop-Up Video style captions, well researched too.
I can't get to the bottom of this song, but I think this is the original (from 1969, didn't chart - I think): ua-cam.com/video/r6dFjDQx_BQ/v-deo.html This is the first version that charted: ua-cam.com/video/g5JqPxmYhlo/v-deo.html But the Pink Windmill Kids' version is based on the Liza Minelli arrangement: ua-cam.com/video/IgLup1z1XnY/v-deo.html Toploader's is the most famous version, but I think I prefer every other one...
A very nice lady has lent me some tapes, and, yes, there are some full episodes of Emu's Wide World on them. Unfortunately, there are some problems with the sound on many of them, and I'm working hard to fix that. I'll upload them all just as soon as I can. :-)
No, no, no - not at all! I was just being silly. Always a pleasure to come across fellow fans of Rod and Emu! I'll try to get that video of Madonna's Holiday up as soon as I can. :-)
IDK know that Bonnie Langford was in Doctor Who has the companion for the 6th {Colin Baker} and the 7th {Slyvester McCoy} as Mel. Plus Little Cassie was in a episode with the 5th Doctor {Peter Davidson}.
That's right. Bonnie's done most of her work on stage rather than on screen so I didn't appreciate how big a career she's had until recently. In fact, she was a character on The Masked Dancer and fooled the panel into thinking she was a much younger celebrity. At 57 she can STILL dance like that!
All of them from Emu's World series 5 until the end, apart from the first live series. So that makes just over 80 episodes across seven series, I think.
I’m just curious as to whether Rod had seen the cards before or whether he genuinely improvised the “final lines” himself. Either way, it’s very funny. (And the kind of thing I can imagine pranking my niece and nephew with.
yes that right cassie and Abbie are sisters. would be good where are they now documentary would be good on tv to tell about it what is like work with rod hull and emu.
Ah, the TV Ark - a great site, but so frustrating that they don't upload full episodes. By an astonishing coincidence, I've got the opening five minutes of that very episode (paste this after the youtube-dot-com bit in your address bar): /watch?v=UBm8Uryg_k8 Now if only we could find the 40-odd minutes that's missing in between my clip and theirs...

Long live the Pink Windmill!
Danny, whose two older brothers, Dean and Anthony, can be seen in earlier serises
I found it quite amusing that a vampire song was done on a Christmas special 😂
The bargain section. I am genuinely really happy when kids won prizes.

It took a while, but I finally realised the first song is the original version of Dancing In The Moonlight, later made famous by Toploader, I think.

Delighted to be of service. :-) And you're right - the world needs Rod and Emu! We must search for more footage...

"So jump on your sledge and go."
VideotapeFTW ohhh now I get it..
Pure and utter joy! If a dvd of your recording can be 'lent' please let me know.
That's Danny Hosier, but not Daniel Hosier. Right?
He was usually referred to as Danny, but was credited as Daniel here: ua-cam.com/video/b7HlimksQG8/v-deo.htmlm33s

Either that, or you went to the Corona Stage School too (or knew someone who did). Well...? :-)
Ray Winston attended ( and was expelled ) from there !
I wonder how Clare turns out now. She is very pretty~
I'd love to know what became of her, too, as I haven't been able to trace her. I'm sure someone reading this must know...
