All drivers should be required to watch this. A good percentage of drivers have no idea how to use acceleration lanes, not just seniors.

I think the video should have a piece of vehicle prep. This especially important for elderly drivers. Having lots of windshield washer fluid and clearing any snow from your vehicle before you take to the road is a high priority. Having winter tires installed well before it becomes an emergency is vital. Seniors then to be forgetful and a reminder never hurts.
Very well done video. Nice clear language and graphics. Other drivers would benefit from viewing not just seniors.

My biggest peeve with drivers today is when you stop behind another driver at a traffic light they only activate their left turn signal when the light turns green. Had they had the left turn signal already on I could have simply kept to the right.
Worth the time it took to go through this. Am recommending it be read by other family members

This video is really good as far as it goes but frankly ignores the worst of what seniors will face in Sudbury, Ontario - cutting in within an inch without signalling constantly, facing road rage, if you dare go the speed limit drivers honking horns and trying to speed past you dangerously close near causing accidents - rude disgusting bad drivers are so common it is a nightmare of most main roads.
That is why new cars with all technologies came very helpful to seniors with all this sensors related to safety.

Very good information.
Most of us compensate for the gradual deterioration of physical and mental powers with greater vigilance and patience. However, senior drivers tend to be honked, bullied and pressured by impatient drivers who break speed and other restrictions in a wild rush to save a few seconds. It is rare to see principled traffic. Actual road conditions should also be taken into account.
i agree, I live in Sudbury, Ontario where road rage, no signalling, cut in front within inches near collisions a nightmare & drivers are disgusting, speed & rude! Seniors can easily get rattled by such bad drivers.
If this is mandatory for seniors to watch, it should be available in different languages. It discriminates due to language barriers.

Why is such an important decision based on a person's chronological age. This is not a good test. Some people age faster, some more slowly. Some young people's actions are worse than oldies. It's been known for years that it isn't accurate. And how about driverless cars. I have seen nothing that makes them safe. Think about the people you're targeting. How it worries them. No car. No money for taxis. Your policies are negatively effecting seniors who are still active. Where have you policymakers been? You do not care about the elder abuse your policy encourages? A sign of the future, along with activities that harm. It's all about money 💰 !

Unfortunately, access to the senior driver group education session (a requirement for renewal) is very poor and geographically spread out, making it difficult to secure a renewal.
...and you think that is 'casual'? The government wants to get rid of you.
Waited twenty minutes on phone to be told course was full and call back next week.
Watched the video and this iwill be my 3rd time.Unfortunatelly I got the request to take the test on Oct.15th and this is a problem for me. I normally go to florida at this time and did not expect this because I missed my chance due to covid.
Will I be able to get a temporary drivers licence for the time I am in Florida. I ordered my plane ticket sometime ago and will lose a lot of money if I have to cancel my trip. My return ticket is for April 12th 23. I need a drivers licence since I have a car in Florida.

Call the number here to get a cancellation spot. If your birthday is before your test, YOU CANNOT GET A TEMP PERMIT TO DRIVE. THAT MEANS YOU ARE UNLICENCED.

Needs to be available in different langagues.
A road test should be required for those over 80 years of age! Not just written test. When someone requires a walker, I don’t understand why the ministry can’t have the right to request a road test before renewing a licence.
This is good video but it doesn’t fix address this issue and puts the elderly driver and others at unnecessary risk of injury or fatality.
I totally agree with this. I was hit by a woman who is close to 100 a few months ago while stopped at a red light. Now I’m off work and dealing with seizures. She had no idea what was going on when she got out of the car. 😔
Can you have your eye test done at your own optometrist for senior driving test
It says that the eye test with your optician or ophthamoligust has to have been within six months of renewal.
