I have a (President GRANT II Premium) which I've done the export modification,.. Along with modulations adjustment on all band the radio does even though SSB audio was the trickiest one.
I'm using #ECOFLEX10 coax with shielding taken off to represent a wire antenna connected directly to the radio connection which has increased the range bur not sure by how much,.. I hear better more clearer audio on both strong & weak signals & seems to pull in more weaker signals modulation more yet to check the system out properly but seems like most are using more than in radio power taking into account those who increase power in the radio than amplifiers.
I've also yet to find out if there is a better microphone for the radio mentioned above.

Hold the local button till the little red light is on turn the channel selector..... Bam there is your rf gain. I added more caps to the power wires inside solved alot of the hash
I think it just turns from full to local DX though ? Are you saying its adjustable ?

Hi Fred I’ve got a grant 2 I’ve had it for about 4yrs it’s still in the box I’m now getting back into Cb. So I’m gonna set up at home like it was my cobra 148 till I had it taken off me. What power supply do you suggest as I’ve got nothing from my old gear left. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.
Hi Dave. Depends if you think that you might cont with the hobbie. If yes then you may just as well go straight for a 30 amp supply as it will run any radio up to a HF set. The Grant does not need a big supply but i would look at Knights CB for a 7- 10 amp. Ive got a cheap QJE 30 amp which has been working well and a smaller sized 30 amp. Video links below

Hi I’ve got rid of the grant 2 I had it 4 years never used it when I tried it out it wouldn’t work so I chuckled it in the bin.
It looks identical to the uniden 980ssb.
What power supply do you need for a president grant 2. Please help I'm a total newbie
If you have the 12w max version then 6 amps is all you need. If you have the 25w export version then 10-12 amps is ideal.

Oh dear Lord no Fred. I had a Grant 2 for a week, got shot of it, very cheap feeling to the radio, you can rock the channel changer to change channel, the clarifier knob wobbles about and the radio is very light! Plus high noise floor and the CRT 9900 is cheaper and has 50 watts out the tail.
You must have had a friday afternoon radio LOL. Mine is solid as a rock on the controls and the clarify control smooth with so much more adjustment than the 9900. Now would i choose a Grant 2 over a CRT SS9900. Well no the 9900 is the better radio.

I have the SS9900 only because a friend bought it, never opened the box. I bought it off him with a 15amp psu.
can you adjust the volume of the roger beep? its so quiet as standard?
Not from the controls on the radio. Iam unsure if there is a adjustment pot inside the radio on the PCB.

The easiest way would be to use a mic with an echo feature. The KPO NM-452 echo mic is a good option.

Hi Des. I have a very cheap RM 203 amp (around £48) which will draw about 12 amps on full power. If you run a cb radio and amp together your going to need about a 20 amp power supply unit to be safe.
