Inspectors should be licensed and insured, don't feel bad about keeping them accountable for their mistakes.
I would absolutely go after the inspector. Real-estate lawyers are a must! You just do what you need to do & go slowly.
Best of luck in your legal situation! I know that it sucks but I find that it helps to think about how standing up for yourself and your rights may prevent the same problem from happening to others

The apartment doubling there rent mid lease is illegal in some states check that states rental agreement laws and get your money back
Definitely feel for you😢. We remodeled an old, 1908 house. It was a lot of work, but at least it had a good foundation. I agree with holding your inspector responsible. You are not the expert, he is. Those rooms with a step up into them are red flags and an inspector should not have missed that. That said, similar problems can be quite hidden like a house recently on Hometown (HGTV) where an addition was discovered after finding old photos of the house without the addition. It didn't have proper tie-in so they had to add a beam. I pray you get a resolution soon!
I am just so angry that a hardworking, talented young lady like yourself has just been given one horrible situation after another. I mean the house and then rent doubled?! Sending all the positive vibes and I know you’ll persevere.
Are you going to sue the inspectors- they did not do their job correctly and you have paid for it- they were either inept or simply dishonest or both
I know U probably won't see this message but I'm 60 and I have friends that wouldn't be able to handle everything You've had to handle so young and U do it with such grace and sweetness .Your just precious and I absolutely love everything U do EVERYTHING ,Your so creative and sweet and kind and generous and U sometimes have to fight for what U deserve .I've always hated to hurt anyone's feelings to but sometimes U have to fight for your rights and U deserve to have your dream Darling .I'll be saying a prayer for U and I just know you'll come out on top Baby ♥️🤗😘

Do not feel bad for goung after an inspector who failed at his job. Which was to protect you from making a bad financial investment.

I had a similar thing happen when we bought our home. The inspector was bough off by the sellers so the house would be a higher a price. As son as we turned on the water, the faucets started leaking, the fence came off, rotten cabinets because of the leaking pipes. It would have been more expensive to hire one of our own and our previous lease was over so we had to move quickly and fix it ourselves little by little.
Legal stuff is the worst! I remember I once had a landlord threaten to withhold a bunch of my deposit so I asked some people and a lawyer and wrote a very threatening (but nice! it was all HEY THERE! HOPE YOURE WELL) email back and I was so very nervous about it! I did get all my money in the end but I am definitely not cut out for this sort of thing.
