damn $6,000 is insane
it is
Not in the Manhattan market for a 2BR it's not. There's a lot of people here that can easily afford to pay their $3000 share of that quite easily.
Ikr!! She got lucky!! What a steal!
america is weird
This is insane to me as someone who pays 850 per person (1700 total) in Chicago
I lived in the East Village for 30 years. I met my husband at a club there and did my internship/residency there. My apartment was like yours with a lot of light and I saw the Empire State, Chrysler buildings as well as the WWC's from my top floor walk-up. When I first moved there in 1991, the community was so small that people would say, "Yeah, you're the new girl in town" lol. Paid $1800 for a one bedroom in the end before Jared Kushner bought us out and turned the units into dormitories for young Wall Streeters in 2011. Still worked in the EV until the pandemic. Now I'm a country girl within striking distance of NYC and Dual Spice Shop on First Ave... one of my favorite haunts. Thanks for a glimpse of your lovely life!
Ah so amazing! Thanks for sharing your memories of this special neighborhood 🥹
Elena - you have carved out such a beautiful life for yourself!! Being in your twenties, living in NYC, in the East Village no less in a gorgeous apt w/laundry!! Halleluiah! I have seen many of your videos here on YT & have always enjoyed your content. Love design, decor & seeing how people arrange their homes. So much fun!! It was so special getting to see where you live! I am in my fifties & live 25 mins outside of the city - pretty much my whole life. And though I never lived in NYC - it's always been a simple train ride away which I have always appreciated. Many of my friends lived in NYC in their twenties while still single & no kids & have all been so thankful for the opportunity...which was a plus for me cuz I always had a place to stay over! I wish you good health & fun as you continue your wonderful career & journey enjoying all that NYC has to offer!!
Akira is actually a movie and u should watch it because it’s really good and blew my mind. You definitely don’t need to be into anime to watch it! It’s a cult classic and was very revolutionary to the point it inspired a whole wave of cyberpunk/sci fi media (even in America). Even if you’re not into that kind of stuff, it’s an excellent movie and probably one of the best to come out of Japan (warning, it is very intense so be in the right mindset to watch it) 🥰
What beautiful and inviting space. So excited for you and your next chapter Elena🌸✨
Aw thank you so much!
Wow your apartment is absolutely beautiful! You really are living the absolute dream in NYC 🤍 I loved the creative vibes of the East Village when I was visiting NYC & your apartment fits the vibes SO well!! Also your outfit in this vid is stunning 🖤
Like you're apt perk of going up to roof is nice . Eye color amazing . Thank you Elena been watching you're videos helps me escape mentally and travel spiritually.
I don't know about everyone else, but I would love a book recommendation video! (especially one that highlights non-western authors or maybe just lesser known authors that don't normally get a platform)
Uncarley has given some great recommendations in a few of her videos, also, for lesser known authors and non-fiction, Venetia La Manna always helps me widen my horizons! ❤
@@philippawood5047 Oooh thank you! checking out their channels now!
There was one book she should "i who have never known men" i very rarely rate books five stars but i still think about the ending and its been six months since ive read it
I’ve been following you since your CA era and it is amazing your growth, such and inspiration 🤍 love from southern spain 🫶🏻
Few things ..
1. Would love to see your book collection plz plz I've been waiting for it for so long ..
2. Would love a reel or short video on your perfume collection.
3. Maybe you can start a series of your fav cafes , places etc etc of East Village and Newyork..it would be really cool and helpful.
4. I've asked this before plz share the area and rent situation etc of Sage ,your sister because like her I'm also moving to Newyork and really like the area she lives in ..plz it would be really helpful...like the expenses, things to consider before moving there ❤
Such a gorgeous space!!! I love thisss
aw thanks brandon!
A truly iconic apartment!
I love your DIY art! 🖤
Beautiful apartment! So cozy. I’ve been journaling since I was 10. I always joke that the journals will have to be buried with me. Too many secrets.
Your home is beautiful.👍🥰
Very cozy apartment Elena! Thank you for sharing books from living table - are awesome.
I live near by and I always wondered what the duplexes you live in look like. They are so unassuming from the front but its such a great layout!
Have you ever been to Melbourne, Australia? It’s where I’m from and not saying it’s anywhere comparable but I feel like in a way it’s Australia’s New York. It’s so cultural, and beautiful and unique in its own right and similar in the way one night you could be at the theatre and the next you’re at some secret underground bar or club. I love it so much. You should visit one day! xx
Your apartment is so clean and cute! It was nice to see your place after watching your channel and seeing so many others. And a nice surprise to find that your a tall girly like me! Go off 6'1 sis!! I would've never guessed. Also -- you should definitely check out Akira, its a little freaky but definitely a gorgeously designed and animated film. Keep doing your fly thing Elena :))
An honor to be sitting next to you as this goes live 🫡
hi my love

A beautiful Lebanese woman like you can't be living in this house alone. If you need a Lebanese husband I'll prepare my visa and on my way.
@@user-wh6fw2id9nwomen don’t NEED husbands
I lived most of my life in Southern California, but the last 14 years in Idaho. I've been collecting matchbooks for over 30 years😊
Watching you all the way from Durban, South African ❤️ love your content
Your place is beautiful. So spacious. Enjoy.
I’m so proud of you 👍 🎉 follower since 2019 I seen you growing and glowing through years ❤ love from india 🇮🇳
aw thank you!!!
Living the dream...my dream... the only thing I don't like is the idea of a roommate...not my cup of tea but for 6000$ yes, you'd better have one!
god i love new york so much, missing it every day
Amazing! Where's the bedside table from?
love love love
i put this on in the background before I study
Nice apartment tour on this video
When I saw the second bedroom I burst out laughing! Wow what a contrast between the two, maximalism vs minimalism. Which do you prefer?
I think her roommate is a model who travels a lot 🤷♀
Wait I peeped ur kitchen backsplash and I'd like to know more about it! What is it made of? It almost has a stainless steel vibe.
Great place.
How do you cook in the kitchen when the AC is on in the living area?
where is your dress and belt from? its soooo cute
once again New York , we had that before , didn’t we ❤️
I miss my old apt in the EV then had to leave and head toward the UES after our COVID deal was up. Honestly it's crazy how much apartments in the area are going for now :/
It’s insane how much it’s gone up 😅
Where'd you get your dining table & bench from? 😍
Hi! Where is your coffee table from? Love your place!
How did you find this apartment? 3k split is soo good in the city.
Oh wow Elena - you look soooo awesome in the cowboy hat! It leads to an inner you;)
Cute apartment, but damn $6k for the East Village is crazy.
this is nyc these days 😭😭
@@ElenaTaberstop with the emojis you’re rich
$3,000 for her half of the apartment is pretty standard if you want to live in Manhattan. There are probably 1.5 million people paying $3000 rent in Manhattan.
@@arkus1928 doesn't mean she has lost touch with reality and can't cry about those insane prices ?
@@saku.544 she’s part of the reason the prices are insane and true New York culture is dying. Stfu
So clutch. Gag.
Beautiful apartment! Where is your clothing rack with mirror thats in your bedroom from? Tried searching, but didnt find anything similar. Thank you!
Where do you get your planters? I also have a birds of paradise and I am looking for a new planter.
I love your outfit! Where’s it from?
how does someone afford this
good question..
UA-cam, apparently
UA-cam $$$
Rich parents, sugar daddies
@@Imjoseguzman hahaha 😂 accurate
Where is your outfit from? So cute xx
Yay!! ❤
Where is the bed side table from? The wood and glass one?
OMG It is so darling!
Is your front door on the street or is there a vestibule?
Come on, you know you bought those cassettes a few months back after watching "Perfect Days". 😀
You will miss New York. Especially during Christmas time.
the cassette tape display is really cute
such fun memories!
do you have any broker or real estate agent recommendations? this apartment is an amazing find!
Beautiful apartment and huge space for nyc! Given the rental prices this is actually very reasonable 😊
Seattle is just as expensive... a nice Condo in Ballard or Fremont neighborhood will run you about $ 10 K per month. When I was 19, I moved out into my first apartment south of Seattle and was paying only $ 80 per month... Crazy
I would literally move into the bathroom.
Beautiful apartment! does your roommate water your plants when you’re traveling? Lol
01:46 Nicee!
wow great video!!!!
thank you!
Elenaa 😃
I feel crazy saying this but 6k for this in lower manhattan is kinda good
nice
love from nepal😊😊😊stay your one time life happily wherever you are love from peaceful country nepal😉😊😊
Oh man, what is that desk? Model??!
NYC
long time no see elena😊
she's back!
Does anyone know the artist of the song at the end?
You can draw a couple of eyes and a nose on that lamp and make it a lampman.
So she have returned to NYC after Paris and all those travels? Found herself after all?
Foreign policy and corporate elites once lived in different worlds. Now they're intermingling,...diplomats and celebrities are mixing with philosophers.
She's 6'1??? Thought she was tall, but that was surprising
just a note: collecting matchbooks is something I've been doing for decades here in Iowa, from local places and from travels around the country and the world :D Not just a NY thing!
top interior, top books! I am sure we would be friends if we would live close together :D!
weren't you living in Paris?? Or was that just being a tourist for 3 months and making a big deal out of it for views
Wow living in the U.K. , it’s shocking that a years rent for you could buy you a small flat here 😮 3 years rent and you could buy a house , lovely flat though 🥰x
Come on, not in London!
@@esikazemese tbf I was waiting for a London comment 🙄 , my response was purely aimed at the absurdity of renting prices, sorry if that was not clear to you 😃
@@teengee6554 It was totally clear, but still , a lot of people don't want to live in small towns for various reasons, and of course you can afford a house there. It's the same everywhere. And not sure why would you compare small towns in England to NY :D
@@esikazemese I don’t live in a small town , in fact I live close to London, I still bought a home that didn’t require 3 years rent money , you are clearly perplexed by my comment , which wasn’t rude , merely pointing out what a shame high rents are, it is ludicrous to assume you have to live in a small town in the U.K. in order to buy a home 😃
YOURE SIX ONE? Didnt see that one coming lmao.
Very nice in general. Change the lousy sofa, unless you don't use it and your guests are all giants. Fire comes out of a wooden countertop? super random posters above bed? nah.

I lived on 9th btw 1st and 2nd as soon as I graduated college and came back home. Took over my uncle’s lease on a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 friends. The rent was $2000 a month in 2002. My part was $667. Lived there from 2002-2006. Saw the East Village getting gentrified all around me in those 4 years. Little mom and pop shops turning into bullshit sex and the city wanna be boutiques and trendy hipster coffee shops. All these fucking spotty yuppie college pricks popping into bars. The neighbor got really saccharine.
Can we get a jewellery video!
I'm iranian, I really enjoyed seeing the book سرزمین ما ایران❤😍
I hope my channel gets to the point of being able to afford this. Btw idk if you’re into nyc vlogs but if so, you might like mine! I’d be sooo grateful if you swung by and took a peek. 🙏 Stick around if you like!
Just checked, nice content! Also, your hair is absolutely gorgeous 😮

Program activated. New word: clutch. 🙄
Your roommate literally owns nothing
Haha she had just moved out as when’re at the end of our lease!
I don’t 6G worth of anything to pay that kinda money.
What 😮 $6000 a month, why?
6k that's outrageous, the east village isn't that nice or great.
I live in NYC all my life, and I will say, that Landlord/Property owner Saw You Coming A Mile Away. YOU got stiffed. $6,000 is mortgage, there are people who live in your neighborhood who pay's less for the same size apartment or larger (no roommates) SMH. I work in the East Village and I must tell you, You guys are not paying for the apartment, you are paying for the Area (No Balcony/Terrace??...Not worth it, it really is not. You can get that same size apartment (for yourself) for less in Queens, Bronx, better part of Brooklyn, (staten Island you can rent a house for yourself for $2,000) a ferry ride to Manhattan. smh
I want to be your neighbor))
You really rock that outfit. Your legs are flattering in it.

Why. To be locked into the “American dream” She travels and lives in great cities. That is life
Is the extra commuting by train worth it?
@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 Commuting where? To the office where she works at? :D
buen departamento, decoracion basica, con poca personalidad...saludos.
The corruption that runs through this administration is getting scarier. I feel for people with disabilities who are not getting the help they deserve. Anyone who is not investing now is missing a tremendous opportunity. Imagine investing $2,000 and receiving $10,300.
My main concern now is how can we generate more revenue during quantitative times? I can't afford to see my 401k crumble to dust
I think Lewis howes strategy is the best at the moment, I recommend it for beginners because it is perfect for now and it is known.
Yeah, since meeting expert Lewis, I now agree that with an expert managing your portfolio, the rate of profit high, with less risk.
You're right! The very first time I tried, I invested $1000 and after a week, I received $4800. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
How do I contact Lewis???, my 401k needs diversification
$6,000 a month is way ridiculous even with a roommate, so either you have a rich daddy who pays your half of the rent or you're a brain surgeon.
The 30% rule says your rent should be at most 30% of your pre-tax income. So to pay 3k in rent you need to make 120k.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. I would love a rich daddy.
Please stop saying clutch.
