- I finally decided to restore this Sears LT1036 and wanted to see if the Tecumseh engine would even try to start. Be sure to subscribe and watch as I bring this old lawn tractor back to life.
If you would like to see some more restoration projects, I have a few classic garden tractors that are waiting for parts (and time) to get them started. I could really use your help, so please consider being a Patron and lets get these projects rolling!

They are a blast to refurbish. Worth the effort!👍👍
I have two of these.
Awesome. What kind of shape are they in? Did you restore them?
Sears/Craftsman vintage tractors are the most sought after
My just surface rust no holes all the parts is all there
looks like fun to work on
It is. I have a few more after this one.
@@SmallEngineDIY cant wait to see them
i believe made after amf dyamarks made by amf posibly
use silver grey or silver grey metal flake for sparkly paint
I think it is made by Roper.
I’ve got the same exact mower, it was sitting in my moms dads barn since the late 90’s I’m guessing. But I can’t even get it to make any kind of noise when I turn the key, I can move the flywheel by hand but it won’t start. I’ve changed the oil, gas, and spark plug and it still doesn’t do anything. I think my grandpa who passed before I was born was messing with the carburetor because it looks like it’s missing some things. But on the intake the same exact bolt broke on me too, it left the same amount showing to. But I’m not to sure what else to try on it to get it going
The lights still work on it, I thought that looked pretty cool😅
Awesome build!
Hey, you have a cool project to work on, and maybe something too for us to learn or get working tips. My next project is to 'rebuild' my Craftsman 42" deck. I'll replace all those pulleys, springs, clean and anti-seize the moving parts the engages the blades. And, I'll be wire wheeling the underside of the deck and doing many layers of primer and Rust-o-lium high gloss black like what you recommended. My Lawn Boy's deck was much rusted out, so I did a replacement on it, and yesterday I gave it a thorough rust preventative measure with many layers of rust-o-lium. I'm not a Pro, but I have viewed a lot of UA-cam videos like yours to learn different stuff, now that I'm retired with extra time on my hands. Working on my mowers, tractors, snow blowers, trimmers & etc. have become one of my hobbies. Thanks to video uploads like yours showing us old school gents the way with these machines! My wife yells out the back door, after the sun went down "You done playing out there?" HA!
I have the same one you have but I can't find the pats online I need your help 😔
Why you people seem the need to leave these beautiful tractors outside is beyond me
And what kind of paint is it
I used Rust-Oleum I'm stainless steel color. It is a very close match, plus any touchup is easy now. Apply many coats and clear coat.
nice, waiting for part 2
They are such great tractors. You should check out the video on my channel of my 83 LT1036. I made it so that it goes 35mph with stock engine and peerless transmission. You can actually shift it like a car.
Hi My name is Tyler Riley I like your videos I have one just like you have the stickers on the side of the hood is not a same. but I need to know how to find the parts and new stickers to find a matching stickers and around the steering wheel and below it and seats and starter how to look on website
Look online. There are quite a few guys that print custom decals.
What is the exact engine techumseh ten horse?
My neighbor who was dying gave me my first one and I restored it. That was 5 years ago or so. I use that one all the time to cut my lawn. I found the second one a couple years back for $75. I bought it just for parts but everything works on it so it is still in working condition. I haven't decided what to do with it.
I would keep it for parts. You don't see too many of these out there any more.
@@SmallEngineDIY One thing I noted is that one mower have as Tecumseh TVM-220 and the other has a Tecumseh VM-100. They are both 10HP and look identical but the bore is a little different. I am curious to know which engine yours has. Sears sold these mowers over a very wide range of years. I think your large decal says Sears but both of my say Craftsman. Unfortunately, the mower models numbers are not readable on either of mine due to fading/age so I am not 100% sure when they were made. The only other difference I have found on mine is the steering gear mechanism. One of mine is like yours but the other does not have the tilted gear. It lays flat against the bottom frame.
I Love these old mowers.. I can't wait for the next video
Shouldn't be too much longer for the next videos.
Not more so than wheel horse.
Hey. I have this old Western, Garden Tractor. 11/36. Do you know it and who made it. Lars from Denmark.
Does it have a model number or product tag somewhere? Maybe at the rear under the seat?
