Copy. I'm going to try to get as many videos as I can of the work at Summit. Fabrication is always cool to see. Also hope to get out on a job or two to watch a tethered Buncher working. Just like with regular cutting it seems like opening a block up right will be critical. Thanks for the interest!
Copy, I think she'll hold me back! I remember that you guys are running a TimberMax. I talked with the salesman, Kelway? Anyhow, it seems like a good machine. Sounds like it works well for you. We went with Summit for several reasons, they're local and we appreciate their Logger attitude. I hope the size of this 470 isn't an issue, seems like there are quite a few advantages too, we can run a larger drum set, more line, more options on motors and gearing and we probably will be tethering big shovels before too long so this one may go that direction in the future. Good to hear from you, good cutting to ya!
Nice machine Jason. I see you have the pin grabber this works really nice you can even turn the buck around if you like. Same machine I was doing excavation and shoring. Looking forward to more videos
Hey thanks Craig. Yeah it's a beauty. I agree a pin grabber is key. The conversion will permanently mount a sheave to the bucket, so if I do get into a project that would make it worthwhile to setup to dig I will be able to put a different bucket on. I'm really looking forward to getting it onsite and getting dialed in, but I'm getting spoiled quick right now on easy ground and creamy wood! Be safe!
Yessir I cut down the pads on a D 65 Komatsu dozer once and that was quite a project, I don't want to do it again!! Do the Hitachi hoes that size have Isuzu Diesel? Those dual swing motors, if one fails you can bypass it and it will swing about 3 times normal speed one way but it won't hardly turn the other.... if it is like the big Case we used to have. Each motor is for a certain direction primarily and when you bypass it dumps all the pressure to one direction.
Yeah it does have an Isuzu. I'm not sure if it's a 6 or 8 cylinder but I think it's about 370 hp. I've always had good luck with Hitachis, they are quite different than Deere's. I'm working up north in Wa. so I am only at the shop to rig the truck up on the weekend, don't have time enough to get to work on it. The mechanics should have the thumb extended and welded up. Looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for the interest.
hey Jason do you have another update on this machine? i use a timber max t20 winch mounted on a tigercat l870c and bunch with a lx830d and it works really good
Hey Kyle, thanks for the comment. The line machine is at Summit now and in line. Looks like I'll probably get it in late May or so if things go well. Summit is jammin, so it may end up a little later. I can hardly wait, been interested in the concept since I first got wind of it. I plan on doing some filming of the fabrication as it gets underway. I had been really looking forward to doing segments of the fabrication, me getting used to the machine, and tethered cutting. There's not much on UA-cam that gives much real detail of how it works and how it is for the operator and I wanted to make that a focus, not just showing a machine cutting. Plus it would probably give you guys who are doing it every day a good laugh watching me figure it out! Unfortunately, the landowner we are working for now informed me a while ago that they have a policy that doesn't allow filming of any kind on their land so that pretty much has shut us down as I am cutting almost exclusively on their land for all three of our sides now. There is a possibility that they would approve of a single video of tethering so we are going to put one together and see if it can be approved, but as you can tell, it's going to be a different future for TheDailyLogger. Whereabouts are you working? I talked to TimberMax a couple of times and it seems like a good system, we went with Summit since they are local and we all really liked their logger-first attitude. I suspect we'll have a couple more in the future. Sounds like you're having good luck with yours. Thanks for watching, and the comment, we appreciate it. Stay tuned for some updates in the future and Good cuttin to ya!
@@kylemcclelland7179 Hey, right on. Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. Busy week. I've been to Kelowna a couple of times, once for the Logging Demo. I just started a new unit this week, got 8 inches of snow yesterday. You're probably in a lot of snow. Good cutting to ya, be safe!
@@kylemcclelland7179 That's a lot of snow. I'm surprised that you are able to work at all in it. Is that the usual for this time of year or has it been a snowy winter? Either way, I'll bet you're looking forward to breakup. Be safe out there man!
She's a beast, can't wait tovsee the transformation and when it ties off to the tigercat

She will definitely be a nice big Anchor. We use a 870 with a T20 Timber Max. Works very well

Nice shop
Yeah, it sure is. We've also got two great mechanics in it, that's the most important part, right? Thanks for the comment.

Does someone get to wash up the undercarriage before the Hitachi is shipped to Summit?
You bet, she'll get all dug out before it gets on the lowboy. Are you volunteering! Thanks for the question.
