Growing Tomatillos, When to Pick Them, and other assorted TOMATILLO info!

Our tomatillo plants are doing fantastic this year. In fact I probably have never had so many LARGE tomatillos produce well as they have. In the right growing conditions tomatillos are easy plants to grow and produce some delicious salsa verde or put in a pico de galla recipe! I even put a few in a chicken salad the other day. Tomatillos are related to tomatoes but are definitely not the same thing. Tomatillos form their fruit within a papery husk that resembles a paper lantern shape.
Tomatillos are ripe when they begin to push through the husk or the husk turns brown and begins to split.
