One thing I think so, the stability of action3 is not higher than that of gopro, but it can better reflect the sense of movement. Gopro is too calm and does not reflect the style of sports.The video quality is indeed not as good as the gopro, but it is much cheaper.
For sure the added movement could give a better sense of what is going on
THIS! There has to be seen that there's action going on. At least for my taste in most situations that's why I get an action cam, right? So the DJI got that point imo.
I think the main reason for this might be the more narrow field of view - especially on the bicycle clips you barely see the full handle and without that perspective its like filming out of a car where you dont actually see the road resulting in a still looking image
Hero 11 has better stabilisation, more vibrant colours & detail but a darker picture with a more zoomed in image. The Osmo 3 has a brighter picture but at the expense of more washed out colours, it also adds more noise at night as can be seen on those boards along the side of those buildings.
You forgot to do the simple overheating test, but that's already on youtube, GP11 overheats in 20 minutes while the Action3 doesnt. Also the battery will last more on the action 3 because it doesnt overheats.
I wasn’t testing for that in this video, but from experience with the gopro 9 & 10, yes the gopro will turn off after about 20-25 min recording in 4k30. As for battery life, i started the day with 100% on both. At the end of filming the gopro was at 66%, Action 3 at 77%
And also the files transfer is much easier than GoPro11..

I have seen a lot of comparison footage lately, and the stabilisation on the GoPro is just to good. It ends up with looking wrong in a way. It is a action cam, some movement is just nice. It just looks to fake when it becomes this good. I did not think I would say this, but better is not always best when it comes to this kind of footage
with the gp10 its when you enable horizon lock at 4k.. it totally messes up the image.. you need to film on 5.3k to fix it.
Great review! Watched so many and I feel like if you're trying to save money, put the DJI Action 3 down -0.5 or -1 EV and you'll be good to go.
I think DJI has nailed WB and color, while being slightly edged out on almost everything else. I don’t think you’d notice so much if they weren’t side by side, but the Action3 clearly shows less detail and the Hero11 clearly can’t do black or white without casting another color over them.
Agree the action seams the true colour you see with eyes. Also better FOV 👍 GoPro made a mistake moving to square sensor imo. The new DJI action 3 has much more going for it really over the gopro

What i really hate about gopro.. i bought the gp10 6 months ago sure would have been nice to get 10 bit color on my 500+ euro camera.. i always feel like i get fucked buying a gopro.. even with the first decent gopro to come out in 10 years...
One thing i noticed while going down the tunneled path was that the action 3 made you look like you were going much faster while the gopro made it seem as though you were barely moving

I think OS has wider view and more natural color than Gopro. Hence, Gopro has better stabilization. I guess it comes to down to affordability as both are good.
One point missed in the video...Hyperview in GoPro11 generates a very distorted view which is clearly visible when panning the camera sideways... I'll choose DJI over the GoPro

The other day when I made the comparison video between the gopro 11, 10, 9 I actually fell when I did a bicycle riding test… I didn’t include the crash… but yeah… one hand riding isn’t that smart
As always an excellent analysis of the cameras. I am interested in stabilisation as I use my camera when I am cycling. I find it much better to handlebar mount my action camera and have it record without including the handlebars in view as their movement tends detract from what I am filming. What I did notice on the stabilisation was the GoPro seemed to pick up more detail, particularly of the slabs in the paving that the OSMO.
action 3 better color but less dynamic range details ,, hyperview on the go pro is terrible, look how the image is distorted when he moves right by walking

Thanks for the helpful comparison! What really confuses me is the fact that these 2 cameras are similar in many ways (with the GoPro being better at some areas and the Osmo Action 3 being more okay for other aspects as well) yet the Osmo Action 3 is way cheaper than the GPHero11. Why is that so?
Well, I feel that GoPro is more recognisable in the action camera world compared to DJI. In order to get people to try their products they have to undercut GoPro’s pricing

hi , i have a strange question , i know this is an action camera , but i wanna use for another use also , can i use it as overhead camera to unbox equipment an especially for scan books papers it have colcor correction and better in dark than gopro , do you think can give me good jpg photos on scan books , thanks
Hi, personally I wouldn’t use a gopro indoors for anything. If there isn’t a LOT of light wherever you use it doesn’t do great. I mean… it’s not even that great on a cloudy day

DJI all the way the color shift in the GoPro to pink is very noticeable no true white in the walls, sharpness and stabilization good on both but if you consider the wider angle of view of DJI it is very sharp, low light is no match for the GoPro.

Agreed, the dji camera has many advantages
the most important for me is video quality in daylight so i pick the GoPro for the dinamic range and better details on shadows
In all fairness, the action 3 got an update about 2 months after this video and it improved many things

I miss a mouth mount for POV videos at DJI for the Action 3 (chest mount is not an option). Can anyone recommend me something? I am just about to make a purchase.

I dont understand why the exposure is so different in the night tests.
The resolution on the move was an order of magnitude better on the GoPro - everything was clear and sharp, whilst the DJI just didn't seem to resolve detail. DJI would be ok as a sub £100 camera, but its not in the same league - see 4:09 especially in the shade - see the rocks by the sign at 4:11 - also try reading bike screen. 4:25 - no movement, look at anything esp. bike spokes - the DJI just doesn't resolve detail. 11:02 night shot of red car - GoPro allows you to read the number plate. DJI seem to have cranked up ISO for dark (very noisy) - doesn't GoPro have ISO adjustment?

go pro 11 better stabilization and in 4k 30 and it much better contrast/details, although white balance is bettern on action 3, gopro looks yellowish
Does anyone notice that Popro 11 seems to have pink color cast?
The gopro quality looks so good. Is the gopro having software or heating issues? Everything about the action 3 is better than the video quality.
The go pro gets crazy hot. I suspect it will turn off after 20-30min of recording just like the GoPro 10. It also froze once yesterday

Thanks Maestro! DJI Osmo 1 was sold out in Europe last summer. Only reason I bought GoPro hero 10. Action 2 was not for me so no regrets. But if Osmo 3 was available I maybe had bought that one. Even knowing all accessoires from gopro are not compatible! 😬 Freezing happened once this summer. On 1080 battery saving mode too. It was 39 degrees Celsius outside and I think I had settings wifi, blue tooth and gps on. But not really sure. I was filming in the sea... Did not occur another time till this day. GoPro 11 images looked better.
My gopro 10 gets hot and turns off every time I film a ebike or scooter review 🤡 for the price they charge for a gopro… they are pretty garbage
@@RedskullPro Your the expert! 😁 I continued to use it when it frooze. Only started and stopped recording with the start/stop button. Both displays were on. Afterwards I checked the footage. It recorded everything during the freeze until the battery was empty. I know that it can hurt to miss moments, or need to change settings. Or when you need to restart the thing and you actually need time and need other conditions to cool it down. I remember before using it, it stayed in a warm bag in the sun for quite some time too, 1 hour minimum. The temperature was just too hot for the machine to cool itself I guess. Will be paying extra attention to this 'free' unwanted feature. 🤷🏽♂️

The dji offers better value for sure… for me… since I already have a bunch of gopro accessories… the gopro makes more sense. If you don’t have a camera probably the dji is better

Action 3 offers the better value, that’s the one I would get if I wouldn’t have a bag full of Gopro accessories
action 3.. i still use the hell out of my action 1's from 2018.. best buy wise... those rocked.. (but not out of the box) dji is known for still improving product down the line... whereas gopro...
You stated that the Action's colors were closer to what you actually saw. Would desaturating the GoPro footage bring the color closer?
Yes you could turn down saturation 5% and it would be very real looking

i am shocked... the action 3 does look better... I did not expect that.. stabilisation on both is good.. gopro does seem to have a little more detail in shaded areas whereas the dji has the wider image..
one thing i have these gopro extreme batteries for my gopro10.. they suck...one broke 10 minutes after first use ..

Yes, depending how the sun hits the lens you may see those in certain recordings
@@RedskullPro Yes, but not only for that reason... the Action 3 has a lens made for a wider angle. Тhis is a very common problem with fisheye lenses.
BTW, excellent preview and comparison.
Another thing to check is if the OA3 can run an external mic and power bank at same time with a USB C splitter 👍

GoPro 'wide' is different than Osmo 'wide'. Overal I like the Osmo Action colors more; in the urban street shot the Osmo Action 3 showed the houses were white, but they were totally yellow in the GorPro footage (eww). Was that shot in AWB? Think you really need to take the price into consideration: Osmo Action 3 is cheaper.
Auto white balance… those houses are 100% white not pink. The problem is… i have MANY things bought for my gopro 9 & 10… media mod, max lens, batteries, cases, etc. It’s a personal preference.

Thanks for the review. I’m getting the DJI. The low light rendering is far better as well as overall tone accuracy. Many other aspects are superior too (battery performance and video reliability, not to mention price).

Osmo 3 must be an amazing cam for the money. Osmo 1 en 3 are very reasonably priced. After 9 months they are available again. I use the GoPro 10 for surfing so the mouth mount from GoPro is very nice because you can plug it directly in the surfboard mount too. Being sold out (Osmo 1) 'forced' me to buy hero 10! 😁 If such a thing was available for the Osmo 1 I may have purchased it from overseas. But considering service and guarantee issues I dare not to. 😬

Thank you for the review. This could b my deciding video. Go pro 11 for better stabilisation and preserve more details. Where i am, it's 200$ more, but at least I get what I'm paying for. OA3, though cheaper, is really soft, and the details of the video are already gone because of it.

OA3 does have a lot of features that make it much better camera than the GoPro 11, but there is now on major feature that has been identified that makes the GoPro 11 the only camera to get. That is the focus problem and IQ. Don't just take my word for it all you DJI fans, do search on UA-cam and see how many now report this problem. I love DJI stuff, I have owned several of their drones and now own Mavic 3. But this is unacceptable problem they need to fix. I bought the OA3 and when you view footage on phone or small laptop looks good. But when viewed on larger computer monitor you can see just how soft the video out of it is. This problems has been all over the UA-cam now and DJI has admitted there is problem. They tried to fix it with software update and all that did was sharpen the video, but didn't do anything to fix it. Now video looks like soft over sharpened mess. DJI now needs to recall all of these units and fix it in the hardware. The GoPro has much better dynamic range, higher resolution and much sharper video than OA3. I'm going to try and return mine for refund or see if they can fix the problem in hardware, but I have my doubts on either.

Can you run Osmo action 3 on external power? I mean connected to a power bank for filming 5-6 hours video.
Yes you can remove the battery and power it from a power bank.

I do use a logitech mx 2s. I’ve been using it for almost 3 years. Great mouse, if it breaks down I’ll buy the same one if I find it again. Didn’t make a video for it :)
We would like to see a dynamic range test with both cameras set to flat/dcinelike profiles. There we can see the real dynamic range capabilities of both cameras. That will be a great and highly appreciated video and also very usefull for most people. ;)

There is a sample recording at night towards the end of the video. The action 3 is a bit better but neither is good enough for filming in low ly
The Action 3 is over $100 cheaper than the Hero 11 and offers very similar features and performance. Image stabilisation is worse but sound quality and low light performance is better. It's an easy choice.
For someone that doesn’t have a action camera it is a easy choice for sure. The Action 3 offers better value. If you are invested into GoPros and have a bunch of accessories and mods for them.. not that easy
@@RedskullPro If you already have GoPro 9 or 10 there's really no point in getting the 11. Your previous video compared the three and I didn't see a significant difference.
Unless you have a UA-cam channel and make a few videos with it and it pays itself out :)

I believe Gopro provides more detailed image in the footage, while Osmo lacks that sharpness. Meanwhile I liked the sound more from the Osmo than from Gopro

Those were my thoughts too. The GoPro looked more detailed. For example when looking at the clouds it was easier to notice the lack of details in the Action 3.
They are both great cameras. The Action 3 is the better buy in every single way except for dynamic range. I will be buying both as I am lucky enough to be able to, but if I only had to choose one it would be the Action 3 for its dependability, battery life, truer colors, and even though it has a lot of noise, the low light capability.

@@RedskullPro I have a small UA-cam channel that focuses around lifestyle activities, so it’s a mix of outdoor activity and “vlog” style content. I also do some gear reviews and have used action cams instead of my Sony A7SIII or A74 just because they are lighter and easier as I do a lot of “on location” filming for my reviews etc.
Action 3. If not for the terrible plastic-acid color and the strange adjustment of contrast curves, I would have chosen GoPro 11.
How does gopro11 compare with iphone14 pro? Both are good for vlogging.

Setting aside the price. Gopro definitely have better image details than osmo. When you want to zoom into gopro at 5.3k has the advantage
Can you see if the action 3 will run off a usb power bank with the battery removed?
I just checked now and the answer is yes. If you remove the battery and plug it in to a power bank it will turn on and stay on

I can fix most things in post prod, one thing I cannot fix is the poor reliability of the Gopro. Has anyone had any trouble with action 3 in terms of corrupted files or bad recordings? Seriously about to dump Gopro for good. This video might tip the scale for me.

I think go pro still has better image sharpness...furthermore - please look -2:55-- Osmo 3 more as if stretching the image at the bottom...- the stabilizer is better in Go Pro, however.

The Action 3 has better sharpness ? It is way SOFTER. Look at trees and grass and the number plates on the cars. The Action 3 has a well known focus problem, and your videos indicate it.

At low-light scenario, the DJI Action 3 performs better than the GoPro 11! Obviously, it pays to have bigger sensors and the Action 3 is enjoying that perk

Action 3 looks like it has some serious issues!! Auto exposure changing all the time dynamic range is poor and overall looks like two gen older cameras ! Well done go pro this time
GoPro is sharper and pov looks better. DJI has better skin tones though. GoPro is smoother but i like the slight movement of the DJI, more natural.

I started the day with both cameras at 100% battery. By the time I finished filming everything that you saw (except the night footage, that i filmed the previous evening) the gopro 11 was at 66% and the DJI Action 3 was at 77%
Osmo 3 for me; GoPro reliability issues stopped me from investing in them any more. I have 2 Osmo action 1 cameras and neither of them have ever glitched… not even once.
All my GoPros freeze… turn off… and everything in between multiple times 😵💫
GoPro won in all situation. In low-light scene GoPro showed less noise and more real night. and for me it looks much better than noisy picture from DJI with unnaturally lшпреув night
I cut up a foam paint brush and glue it on my GoPro - no wind noise

yes! OA3 still have the GREAT natural colors...... definately the 3 i'm buyihg. reason I lilked the OA1 was the natural vibrant colors, and reason I ditched my gopro7/8 was the orangy skin on people it was like trump on all scenes... the 11 looks still have that orangy coat on everything.... when record people all become trump.
