And we're talking about the most cerebral position in all of sports. Why do people so often leave that out of the "talented" equation? By that logic Joe Montana, Tom Brady and Drew Brees weren't all that talented either.

I would not say elite but simply for the factcthat this word is overused. Calling like 5-7 WR elite is olay since every team has 3+ WR but we only have 32 starting QBs and top 5 is not a synonym for elite. Brady was elite, manning was, mahomes is (although he is not playing elite right now) but there has to be a limit of how often we use that word if it is supposed to mean something. For me purdy is probably like 7th in the league but i would only call 3 guys elite

Brock didn’t outplay Goff in the NFC Championship?! What game were they watching? Brock had more passing yards, more rushing yards, 30 points higher in QBR, and won the game.
Listen, Brock just broke the NFL record for passer rating for his first 25 games held by Mahomes. He owns the single season record for adjusted net yards per attempt ANY/A which is the best measurement we have for a QBs efficiency. His QBR last season was the best ever for a player that didn’t win MVP, it was up there with Manning 04-06, Brady 07, and Marino 84. He has the best passer rating over a two game span since 1950. He broke the record for most games of 130+ QB rating over his first 3 years held by Lamar… and the season just started.
I don’t understand how people have Goff over Purdy, when Goff has arguably had a better team around him now and with the Rams, and he almost got shut out in the SB. Whenever Goff has a suspect offensive line he struggles, fortunately for him he has the leagues best. To not even mention the athleticism gap between the two in this segment is crazy.

They should use hard metrics. Otherwise it's combining team stats and team wins. Purdy's QB stats are better, overall, than all the others. I don't understand why they don't use metrics. It doesn't mean he can "beat" them eveytime. Also, "talentwise"? That's just favoritism. Skill, stats, those matter...and factor into his talent.
Yeah, I hate how throwing the ball deeper or running faster is considered talent, but reading the defense and making smart plays isn't.

Also, every QB in history that had success, was in a good situation. Literally every single one. Either loaded talent or elite play caller or coach.
People keep talking about Purdy being on a rookie contract. They all were on a rookie contract for their first couple years. Not all of them balled out as consistently as Purdy. Some of them didn't even play and got to learn without the pressure of being a playoff team.

But in that scheme that Brock is playing in, the way he actually knows them plays like the back of his hand and delivers the ball as well, because they are not all wide open buttnaked (no didd) receivers, some of those throws are highly contested and he zips them through the air, and he got some sneaky wheels on him too. No way I am putting my QB Jalen Hurts over him right now. Jalen Hurts is having a hard time, yes he has had different OC's every year he been in the league, but the fundamentals and making reads and delivering the ball on a consistent basis and most importantly, TAKING CARE OF THE BALL. I choose Brock.

Purdy played against every NFC playoff team last year and went 6-0 against all of them. Outplayed each QB head-to-head.

Jared Goff did pretty well with Sean McVay. Then he went to the Lions and did terrible and then got Dan Campbell as a coach and is great now. Its almost like QBs need a really good coach to draw out their potential. Mahomes and Reid, Lamar and Harbaugh, Purdy and Shanahan, LaFleur and Love, etc.
Dan Campbell was his head coach year 1 .they both came to the lions at the same time . Also that lions roster looked like an XFL squad it made the panthers look competent year 1 by comparison. Purdy has had shanahan his whole career

They act like shanahan has an easy scheme to master. Lots of your favorite qbs wouldn't have learned it and perfected it anywhere near as fast as Purdy did.

LeSean and James never played in any other system outside of Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy and had success.
Yeah realistically it's really only Stafford. I'd take Brock over Goff right now, but it is close because Goff has also gone to a Super Bowl. But to Shady's point, he thinks you can't drop Brock Purdy in any scheme, I don't think you can drop Goff in just any scheme and they'll win. I think if you put Brock Purdy in Jacksonville or Tennessee, they are instantly a playoff team. I'm unsure if I can say that about Goff. Dak is overrated, Jalen Hurts turns the ball over too much, Jordan Love has a good trajectory, he just needs to win big games. And i believe Jayden Daniels will be up there with Brock and Goff by the end of the season, just slightly below
