@@moonmars-c3i nothing.. i mean he targets beginners and i actually went through his course. He charges insane monthly membership but the course material isn't that good as it is marketed. Sure you might learn a few things but you can learn much more for the same amount of money. I recommend buying Derek Johanson Copyhour instead of his course. derek's course is $497. Tyson charges $497 entry fee and $97 every month after that. Considering it is a 90 day program. You will end up paying around $690 for three months. Which is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT for the value in that course. Instead Spend money on something worth while. The new Copy That marketing course is really good because i went through sean's offer course and some other videos that were offered for free once during live stream. It costs $200 right now. So that is why don't pay that scammer any money. And also for your information he stole all the sean ferres course material that he now teaches inside his community
When I started out, I watched a free course of a copywriting guru. Ended up confused and when looking for answers I found Copy That! I watched your 5 hour course and within half an hour I realized that the guru told me NOTHING for as long as he could. Watching your content religiously, learning from it, and realizing copy is hard. Which is okay. I am willing to work to be good at it.
Yes they usually go on and on about how much money you can make by following the exact same steps that they took years ago on their own with no experience. And "in my course" you'll learn all that and much more.
Unfortunately social media is flooded with "gurus" promoting wealth without work in 90 days or less if you buy their course. This applies to just about every business opportunity. You can be sure they are not telling you the whole story.
I think what’s even worse is copywriters who are just getting in the game, who write for clients that sell “how to make money” * insert vehicle * courses. It’s basically circular marketing. I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with people who do sell those courses IF AND ONLY IF a few things. 1. They actually have a lot of knowledge and past experience on the vehicle they’re selling. And they have good intentions/morals. 2. The course / program they’re selling has everything students need to succeed. And by everything I mean EVERYTHING. Copywriting for example, that’s how to write, how to set up your business properly, prospecting, closing clients, client relationships, etc. The problem is that most gurus have none of these. All they focus on is Marketing and Sales, but not the Product. They sell the dream, but the products themselves are crap. And it’d be a very different story if they hype up the product, and the product turns out to actually be very good. (Hence why I like guys like Daniel Throssell.) IMO A scam is defined by: When the perceived value of a product purchased by the buyer, does not match up with the created value of a product marketed by the seller.”
I bought a copywriting course۔ Later on when ii read Copywriting secrets book of jim edward. I came to know the guy was actually teaching me content of that book.
You have just opened my eyes up and I totally agree with you. I bought a course over a thousand about a year now and they just left me on my own after a couple of months doing the courses. They won’t even give me no feedback. So I have to figure out everything on my own. I still haven’t even gotten my business license or create a portfolio yet because they won’t even bother answering my questions when I ask for help. I won’t mention who sold me the copywriting courses though. But I feel like it’s a scam. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you so much for this video, I'm going to start this journey and now I know what to look out for, it's better to learn these lessons that you taught us in this video so we don't end up making a very serious mistake.
God bless you brother. I've observed everything you said first hand. It's very true. And some of their courses are empty. Plus they don't provide necessary guidance. Very wicked of them. For example Golibe Ilechukwu
Yeah ngl when I was watching Tyson 4Ds course and I saw spelling & grammar mistakes my first thought was how does this guy make money from copy writing 😂
Whew, I was just 'hooked' by one of these 6 figure guru's. The thing is, I'm already 50, I learned when I was very young that if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. I'm going to go ahead with the meeting they've scheduled with me. I'm going to secretly rate their sales pitch. I don't have a dime to my name & no credit, so there's no worries I'll be buying. Lol
Probably not. He is 100% correct but you can't convince a fool of anything (other than what they want to hear). There will still be people who think spending money on a course will teach them faster than a reputable book or blogs full of information.
@@dylanj8676 I would like to add that when you are starting out lije absolutely from zero and hear about Copywriting for the first time that too from the mouth of these Gooroos then you are bound to fall into their trap. Because it's the first thing that you hear and believe it because you don't have anything that's backing up this source of information is incorrect. Even our Copy that copywriters says that we can earn thousands of dollars within 3 months but the difference is they tell you all the scenarios and how much is it likely to happen. But these Gooroos convinces you to believe that "EVERYONE" can get it within 3 months no matter what. It's not really about the shortcut I have been unfortunate to fall for all these. But I never gave up and upon taking action I understood who is a scammer and who isn’t.
There is a Copywriting guru who charges $6k for her course. That's insane. For that price, it better come with a money back guarantee of some kind. She's turned her course into a large business and actually employs people to work for her so she's obviously doing well. Blogs seem to be her thing. But $6k is really high.
There are courses that add value to many ...but these gurus who scam other people with their courses on how to make online are the legit no 1 scammers ...thanks for talking about the facts 😂😂😂😂😂
Although i am above 40, worked in agencies and knew copywriters who had average earnings, i was thinking about the credibility of those videos. I came to your video then after someone who looks like a scammer named Tyson with a 4 hour course, which had like 30 minutes of shallow talk, nothing serious, the names of people he referred to were just their first names, and they were mostly for teenagers. It looked fishy. Thank you for exposing them and yes you are right, they do say it is totally free bla bla, but when i looked in the description, they had other Premium paid courses. So they do tempt people with the free course, and then sell some ppl the paid course. Another point is they do make money from advertising, because those long hour videos are being watched, and there is an ROI on advertising, so they also make money this way here besides scamming people. I wonder why UA-cam isnt taking action with such content? where is their responsibility towards this content? Thanks for being brave, it is really annoying how many fake make money videos are there online.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but it's very possible to make a lot of money with copywriting, but with a course it's more easy to scale and less time consuming, and some of these gurus maybe just want another source of income as well. I get that there are many fake gurus but I don't think all of them are fake.
> "it's very possible to make a lot of money with copywriting" Sure. Possible. Just improbable. There are a lot of hurdles between newbie copywriters and a consistent high income. Most fall short of that. > "with a course it's more easy to scale and less time consuming" Have you found that to be true for yourself? If so, more power to you. We hope our own courses provide this, but it's not a promise that we make because... we don't promise results. > "there are many fake gurus but I don't think all of them are fake." At what point did we say every guru is fake?
Selling coaching is a way better business model for scaling. To get to more than a $100k a month, you need to think bigger. You need build leverage and sell a product - whether it's a course, software, or e-commerce. Service-based businesses can only take you so far. Selling courses can get you to $100 million like Iman Gadzhi. But to get to $1 billion, you need even more leverage and a new business model. And to get to $100 billion, you need to build the next Facebook or Google. PS: The market for courses and info is increasing by $40 billion a year in the USA (thats JUST the USA)... there would be a lotta millionares created in these market across the next 10-12years and as copywriters we can leverage that to partner with clients selling info...
@@CopyThat Alex I just got my 1st clinet for 1200/month (wothout a mentor, But i plan to invest in one now that i have money), this is my take... would love ur feedback 🙏: Making $10k a month with copywriting isn't some crazy, unattainable goal. It's actually pretty simple. You just need 5 clients paying you $2k a month each. That's it. "And let's be honest, if you're helping these clients with any of the following: long-form VSLs, funnel setup, sales page copy and headlines, email copy, email marketing, You're providing them with a ton of value. You're literally helping them make more money. Charging $2k plus a small 3-5% rev share is more than fair. It's a steal for your client. Plus, delivering all these services would take max 24-48 hours. So, I don't think making $10k a month or more with copywriting is that difficult. And that's what professional copywriters like Cardinal Mason, Ben Bader, and Tyson 4D teach you... And yeah, you could figure it out on your own, but why bother? (Its really stupid of you, especially if u have the capitalmto invest) Why waste your time and energy trying to reinvent the wheel when someone way more experienced can guide you? Investing $4k in coaching is a no-brainer compared to the ROI you'd get from investing the same amount in school/college. I mean, even Alex Hormozi took Tyson 4D's course back in 2019! My point is, if someone's free content has helped you, buying their program isn't a bad thing. It's a way to learn more. It's a way to invest in yourself and your future. So, no matter what Alex says don't be afraid to take the leap. If you wanna make a 100k you gotta learn to risk at least 10k. Don't be afraid to invest in yourself.
Sean here. I'm starting to see it tick up again--at least among the companies I work with. I think people are starting to realize that, even with AI, there needs to be someone to prompt and edit the copy so that it's not dogslop.
Man I wish I'd found your channel before this girl I paid 1943 $ CAD. Luckily, I've earned about 3500$ in a year so far by working a few contracts on and off, but knowing I spent so much for a rather honest class, but very basic course I could've gotten for free leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
Whatever you taught in 5 hour course I didn't find even 1% of that in anh of their courses on UA-cam. They just talk bs about how easy it is to get paid thousands of dollars just spending 20 mins and trap people.
I used to have that earning 10k$/ month mindset from these gurus until I met actual copywriters from my country and learning from you guys. I haven’t done much copywriting because I’ve started looking for jobs and studying the travel/ tourism industry, since in my country it has become one of the most lucrative, if not, the most lucrative industry. And if there’s a goal I want to end up doing like the people that have been part of the Copy That community, is the first one you mentioned, being comfortable with that 20-40 hours a week with that 2k-8k $/ month, and also focus on working with the travel/ tourism industry, God willing. Thank you for the content you’ve been giving us guys.
Damn Man I have just paid 1st installment for my copywriting course starting from 21st September. I'll come again after one month and will tell you how it went. P.S I am afraid now but still pray may it turn out what I wanted it to be 🙃
Hey, yeah it's almost one month since I joined the copywriting course. To my surprise, I am not as afraid as I was during the initial days of my course. Sir (I think I will call him mentor in a few days) is really putting his blood and sweat to make us learn copywriting. But still there is one thing I am sure of that I could have learned copywriting on my own but it would have taken a lot and lot of time and there are not many teachers in the market who really invest their time and energy for their students. And second thing is without a course you do 100% of the work and with a course also you do 100% yes 100% work. The only difference is now you get all the material from A to Z so no time is wasted in research and you have a support with you that helps you knowing where you are going wrong. Thank God, I am not scammed and today I am going to pay my 2nd installment. Tips before enrolling in any course Make sure the mentor is genuinely kind.( it tells a lot because people who don't know what they are teaching usually get offended with questions) Thoroughly stalk the mentor - his work, his profiles on LinkedIn, Fiverr,or any other freelance website, talk to his students (at least 3 to 4) if possible Pay fees in installments if you are still not sure. Trust your instincts. And Pray.
@@PeterClinton-e4t Yeah so a month has been passed now. And very fortunately, I am not as scared as I was during the initial days of the course. The person who is teaching the course is genuinely investing his time and effort. And I don't think I have wasted my money. I can feel it. But there are few things that I have also observed. I could have learned copywriting on my own but it would have taken a lot and lot of time. Without a course, you do 100% of the work on your own and even with the course you do 100% of the work. The only difference is now you have all the material from A to Z and a mentor to help you figure out what went wrong. MOST IMP THING IS... There are not many genuine mentors in the market. Whatever Copy That is saying is trueeeee. No doubt I could have gotten scammed but got saved (thank GOD). Few tips for any of your future courses 1. Make sure the mentor is genuinely kind ( people who don't know what they are teaching usually get offended easily) 2. Look at mentor's profile on each and every site. 3. Stalk his students (I mean just check what they are doing in the field and if possible TALK TO THEM at least 3 to 4). 4.Trust yourself. 5.Pray. That's it.... best of luck!
The irony of watching these gurus write is their copy is so bad literally anybody can write it in the time they take. Some of the stuff is so bad I could probably do it in 10 minutes. Oh, and they can't format or write proper paragraphs either. It always looks like this: "What if I told you, You can get RICH FAST and EASY from HOME". It's full of one line paragraphs and sencence fragements broken up with commas. A copy of _Hey Whipple, Squeeze This!_ will cost the same as one month of a cheaper course and provide way more information. This is why your channel is so good. I see real testimonials where people are saying things "After 3 months I'm finally making enough to replace my day job," and $2-3K after a few months is realistic. $10-20K like gurus suggest isn't.
It's taken me just over 2 years to get close to 20-30k a month. Just recently my business partner and I signed a big client who has referrals for us! So we should get there soon. (Big for us is 10k contracted retainers, he needs a lot of work) His referrals are the same size with the same budget so it's exciting to have the hard work pay off. There is a lot of ups and downs. I've had negative checking account balances, worked crappy jobs while trying to learn the skill, failed with outreach, had bad clients, and so on. Keep in mind this is revenue not take home and there is taxes.
@@piouspapist I'm talking about people like Tyson 4D who claim you can get $10K/mo in 90 days. Then he tries to sell you paid mentoring where he says he can get you to six figures 10x as fast. So he's effectively telling the naive that he can get them a six figure salary in 10 days.
That's amazing. Excellent work! Copy and marketing is a lumpy business--especially for freelancers and agencies. I'm glad you pushed through the sh!t and came out smelling clean on the other side. Keep it up!
I forgot to mention... I had a former agora writer (now big time freelancer) who made $75m with a webinar funnel for the company audit my copy as well. So, with all that said I've seen how hard it is, the quality needed, the hours it takes, etc... so yeah can you make crazy money in copy, sure, but it takes a long time. You need talent, marketing competency, and you NEED connections. (A referral system) Alex is correct. The companies that are open to paying us $10k/mo want marketing strategy, media buying, team development, actual copy, and management of projects. So I also had to develop those skills to stack. Can't make 10k a month with a client only writing 200 word emails lol.
@@piouspapist That's just it, the copywriters who are making that much are actually also acting as marketing strategists, graphic designers, and art director as well. Getting $10K for doing your clients marketing campaign is one thing, but nobody is making that much off just sales emails without commission or royalties. And the "entrepreneurs" on Instagram that gurus write for when they do write definitely aren't paying you those. I doubt they even know what royalties are.
I always watch these kinds of videos and get deflated. I'm glad I'll no longer get scammed by these gurus, but is there really nothing I can do to become wealthy? It seems like every door is closed now.
Some of them will say that if you buy a coarse you will take the training more seriously, you would be more committed whereas if you just watch UA-cam videos for free that you won't take it as seriously, yes there's one who said that
Our problem is not with courses. The issue we have is with misleading and false promises made in an effort to exploit the young and vulnerable. That's basically the third sentence of this video.

Hi Alex, your content is really informative and amazing! It deserves more recognition. I believe the current video editing might be holding it back. Professionally edited videos could really set you apart from others on UA-cam. I’d love to help you enhance your videos to increase engagement and views.
The practice is the key part I'd say, if you're writing then you should be able to know if you're ready to take the next step once you think you're ready
The skills are valuable, you just need to find an avenue to use them. Every business needs marketing and sales, maybe you just need a personal business to copy write for
We won't comment on a specific guru. But Alex does give a list of warning signs at the 10:00 mark. Compare that list to his content, compare what he promises to what you get. You should be able to come to your own conclusions easily.

Good old greedy guru's are everywhere you turn on the intrterwebs. I'm going through the How to Start Copywriting page on the Copy That discord. Hopefully I can manage to follow some of the great advice and start taking action this time. I have been learning about copywriting for some time. Its time to take it seriously now, so I need to put pen to paper and practice on the daily! Thankfully I dont feel the need to pay ridiculous amounts to do a course at this point in time.
To be honest, I’m like this is one big pyramid scheme and the second thought was if you’re making so much money from this why are you trying to sell a course? Then they say they are doing the course so they don’t gatekeep.
Aside from our 5 hour course on copywriting (go to our videos and sort by popular) We did a podcast on this topic a long time ago: ua-cam.com/users/liveaiSBMTFmMaw
I started this journey a few weeks ago and am very interested in starting my own business. I’d be happy with making a modest £30k a year. Is this feasible?
Well... have you gone through our free materials? If you have, you should have a pretty robust understanding of how to research, how to practice, how to improve, and how to begin doing some outreach. If you're in the rut of "I open word documents but I just don't know what to write!" then the patreon is not for you. So don't join the patreon until you're ready to go deeper on a certain topic--storytelling, for example, or cold email, or email sequences. You can just browse through the posts and see all the content we've put out so you can see for yourself what's relevant. But perhaps the only other reason to get the patreon is if you want one of the members of Copy That to review your copy (or outreach) live on stream and give you some professional feedback. (By the way, your copy is probably not ready for feedback until you've revised it a few times on your own.) Hopefully that helps! Good luck!
@@CopyThat yeah I saw 70% of your free material and I spent time on yt and Google learning about copywriting since 2-3 months.
(Hence why I like guys like Daniel Throssell.)
IMO A scam is defined by:
When the perceived value of a product purchased by the buyer, does not match up with the created value of a product marketed by the seller.”

Alex, you nailed it. Saved many people from this trap 🎉
Probably not. He is 100% correct but you can't convince a fool of anything (other than what they want to hear). There will still be people who think spending money on a course will teach them faster than a reputable book or blogs full of information.

Lol, responsability fron.youtube. they just want money.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but it's very possible to make a lot of money with copywriting, but with a course it's more easy to scale and less time consuming, and some of these gurus maybe just want another source of income as well. I get that there are many fake gurus but I don't think all of them are fake.
> "it's very possible to make a lot of money with copywriting"
Sure. Possible. Just improbable. There are a lot of hurdles between newbie copywriters and a consistent high income. Most fall short of that.
> "with a course it's more easy to scale and less time consuming"
Have you found that to be true for yourself? If so, more power to you. We hope our own courses provide this, but it's not a promise that we make because... we don't promise results.
> "there are many fake gurus but I don't think all of them are fake."
At what point did we say every guru is fake?
@@CopyThat Thank you for the reply, keep up the good content

Alex I just got my 1st clinet for 1200/month (wothout a mentor, But i plan to invest in one now that i have money), this is my take... would love ur feedback 🙏:
Making $10k a month with copywriting isn't some crazy, unattainable goal. It's actually pretty simple. You just need 5 clients paying you $2k a month each. That's it.
"And let's be honest, if you're helping these clients with any of the following:
long-form VSLs,
funnel setup,
sales page copy and headlines,
email copy,
email marketing,
You're providing them with a ton of value.
(Its really stupid of you, especially if u have the capitalmto invest)
Why waste your time and energy trying to reinvent the wheel when someone way more experienced can guide you?
Investing $4k in coaching is a no-brainer compared to the ROI you'd get from investing the same amount in school/college.
I mean, even Alex Hormozi took Tyson 4D's course back in 2019!
My point is, if someone's free content has helped you, buying their program isn't a bad thing.
It's a way to learn more.
It's a way to invest in yourself and your future.
So, no matter what Alex says don't be afraid to take the leap. If you wanna make a 100k you gotta learn to risk at least 10k. Don't be afraid to invest in yourself.
I don't want to make a lot of money. I just want to learn how to do copywriting.
And how to do it?
What these copywriting gurus don't mention is that the number of copywriting jobs on upwork have fallen by 25% in the last year due to AI
Sean here. I'm starting to see it tick up again--at least among the companies I work with. I think people are starting to realize that, even with AI, there needs to be someone to prompt and edit the copy so that it's not dogslop.

Tips before enrolling in any course
Make sure the mentor is genuinely kind.( it tells a lot because people who don't know what they are teaching usually get offended with questions)
Thoroughly stalk the mentor - his work, his profiles on LinkedIn, Fiverr,or any other freelance website, talk to his students (at least 3 to 4) if possible
Pay fees in installments if you are still not sure.
Trust your instincts.
And
Pray.
@@PeterClinton-e4t
Yeah so a month has been passed now.
Few tips for any of your future courses
1. Make sure the mentor is genuinely kind ( people who don't know what they are teaching usually get offended easily)
2. Look at mentor's profile on each and every site.
3. Stalk his students (I mean just check what they are doing in the field and if possible TALK TO THEM at least 3 to 4).
4.Trust yourself.
5.Pray.
That's it.... best of luck!
@@thereadinglifeofmaidaBrother can u tell me which course you bought and of how much money?
The irony of watching these gurus write is their copy is so bad literally anybody can write it in the time they take. Some of the stuff is so bad I could probably do it in 10 minutes. Oh, and they can't format or write proper paragraphs either. It always looks like this:
"What if I told you,
You can get RICH
FAST and EASY
from HOME".

How can i understand if your patreon/course is good for my case? Ps. I'm not working in Usa right now
Well... have you gone through our free materials?
(By the way, your copy is probably not ready for feedback until you've revised it a few times on your own.)
Hopefully that helps! Good luck!

Guys your site ain't working since yesterday. I wanted to go through the guide but it won't just open.
I tried to open it through both my phone and Computer but the site is not responding.
Is everything OK?
Just opened it fine on two computers... are you sure it is not your devices? Have you cleared your cache and cookies?
@@CopyThat Yes I cleared all the cache and cookies, and even opened it in incognito mode but it's still irresponsive.
All the other links are working except the guide one and 21-day copywriting course.
@@CopyThat It’s working today 😃✌️

Tyson 4D has free courses unlike other gurus
Alot of gurus have free courses, that's how they get you interested in the paid ones
@@NomilkMan-fl9qx a lot of them do have paid courses, not all
yeah but his free courses don’t tell you the full truth
@@Cosmicmorales NOR do the PAID ones!😂
Where can I find Sean’s OF link tho?
I'm not rich and I'm in Dubai
