- This video is a compilation of the entire 1648 Jon Boat to Bass Boat build from start to finish. The build took place over the course of almost a year and was one of the biggest DIY projects I've taken on. All I can say is it came out better than I ever expected. This 16ft Aluminum Landau has been completely transformed and unrecognizable from when I received it.
Below is the link to the full 1648 playlist to see full length videos of each step along with many more videos that weren't included in the compilation:

Didn't know how this would look when I started watching but you did an awesome job on that little boat! And thank you for going step by step and explaining what you were doing. I've built a couple little boats nothing like this but it turned out great! Hope you have many wonderful days and memories on it. Semper Fi from an old Marine
Thank you for the kind words, it was an experience for sure. I'm really happy with how it came out!
Absolutely gorgeous! Great, great work! Probably one of the best boat build videos I've seen. Thanks so much for all the info.
This reminds me of redoing my grandfather's old 17' duracraft. Such a great size and it's so nice knowing every inch of your boat.
That has come a long way! I like how you had your kids help you! my kids saw this and asked when they can help with ours now lol
Dude,. That was a very well-made video! You Rock! The only thing I could criticize is the wood surface.( But that's just a matter of taste.)Nice job!
That was an awesome build. You did an absolutely awesome job. With all of those hand rivets, I bet you can crush a pineapple with your hand lol. Very good work. Now I'm inspired to restore my bass tracker and you gave me some great ideas. Thank you
Haha, it wasn't too bad. Having a comfortable rivet tool helps a ton. Restore it! It's a fun process seeing it transform.
Love the vids. Very helpful. Keep it up. The boat looks awesome by the way👍
What an awesome build bro !!

Very nice!
Wow man thats is a killer build beautiful boat man i want on the water now
Nice job
Instructions unclear, I ended up with knowing exactly how to build my dream boat
Haha, get on it!
Very nice job it looks fantastic I’m getting ready to do a bass tracker it’s a 1980’s model I’ve never done anything like this but your videos will help me a ton thank you I hope I can do as good of job as you did
Good luck! Just take your time, when step after the other and you'll get it.
Holler at me for a custom tiller handle extension, noticed the Mickey Mouse one on your motor
GW’s old outboard repair, Dierks Arkansas!
Yup you inspired me im doing this now
Do it!
My man said FOOK my garage floor
😂
Love thi! Is the black holding up?
Should've ran your throttle and steering lines before you walled and floored everything
In hindsight I agree, next time!
Is it just me or does that motor look to be set at to much of an angle backwards? Great looking boat all round
The motor setup was a little wonky getting a long shaft motor to work on a short transom, it levels out though on the water.
Great looking build... Not including man hours, do you have an idea of what you're into this boat? $$$?
I'd say around $8000 including the new motor.
Great video and nice build!
I’ve never worked with hydroturf, but I’ve read /watched a lot of videos where they say if you have any type of edge or bump (rivet) it show pretty bad through it. Seeing anything where you patched that hole?
Thanks man! Yeah if you have any bumps like rivet heads they will show. It's not too bad, if you use a camo style you'd never see it but on flat colors you do. The full video for the turf you can see the build a little more. As long as your edges are flat though it's purely cosmetic.
No issues with the patch!
Hi, I'm Brazilian. I'm doing my first project for a small boat. I loved your video, I will follow the channel. I would like to know if the carpet worked or if it smelled bad afterwards?
No bad smells at all, worked very well. I've used it many times now, I actually use it in my truck bed when hauling certain things.
@@mvboutdoors Cool! In Brazil we don't have this habit, so I'm curious, is this carpet the same as the ones in theaters and indoors or is it a special carpet made to be outside the house?
@@sidneypsi it is made to be outside, it is not a thick and drains water easily.
Awesome build! Do you have a link to the epoxy you used to seal the wood?

how this is the aluminum
Nice build which do you like more Hydo-Turf sheets or EVA Foam
The hydro-turf is much better quality than off-brand eva foam no doubt, it's like 3x the price.
Also I see the paint is rustolium gloss black, which roller did you use?

That video has all the details if you wanted more specifics but it's the rustoleum topside gloss black and I used smooth cabinet rollers.

what city are you located at in ohio
1648 is the best size I have a 1638 it's not bad but can't stand side by side
I agree, it's really the minimum most should consider for 1-2 people. You can get by with less but it's way more enjoyable with the extra stability!
