    I had spectrum internet for over 20yrs and today I called to cancel for something that is amazingly better in so many ways. Watch my conversation with Spectrum unfold as I stand my ground to break up with them in the longest relationship of my life. ATT Fiber came to town and she is a looker. 1gig down and 1gig up is incredible.

    Getting my ATT fiber installed next week. My Breezeline 500 MB was not bad, but often in the 150 MB range. My eero 6+ mesh will handle up to 1 GB. Located 20 miles SE of Columbus, OH. Entertaining video, Jared. My son (Jared) is getting his, too.

For some reason I saw in the mail that Spectrum was available for cheaper. However, now I'm having problems hearing music on zoom. Just got my ATT box back. Let's see how it goes this time around.

    Reminds me of a secured credit card I had when I was building my credit back up. I called to cancel the horrendous card, and the lady on the other end of the phone was offering me stuff that a person would have to be mental to take. I told her I was upgrading to a card with a 10 fold increase, with lower percentage rate. She was offering me a $300 dollar increase with the same apr. lol. AT&T fiber sounds really attractive at the moment. Their website says no increases until 12 months, which is pretty scammy, I mean, typical. lol. But, what happens to the $80 bucks after a year? Are we slugging through the same phone calls threatening to cancel? Or does AT&T now have us over a rail bc we've got fiber installed, and they know once you've gone top shelf there's no going back to fast food. Good video.

    I canceled my service on Nov 28th, 2023. She told me to return the equipment at a UPS store, and after an hour or so I drove over there to do that. I get an email 2 hours later say that I returned my equipment without canceling my service and that I needed to call a number to cancel my service. I gave it a couple days thinking that they're such a clown show it probably takes them time for the right hand to know what the left is doing. Then I get an email saying that they received my request for new service and they would schedule a time for the install. Here in Canada it's around $85 for a 75/10 plan LOL *cries*
    Btw, I got the R6 II and all EF lenses! I got the Sigma Art 14-24/2.8, Sigma Art 50 1.4, and Canon EF 70-200 2.8 IS Mark III. I've been a photographer for 18 years and this setup blows the doors off anything I ever owned before (including 1D series cams). Not only did I save THOUSANDS vs native RF glass, there are huge advantages:
    The Sigma Art 14-24 is actually sharper than the RF 15-35 and much cheaper.
    The Sigma Art 50 1.4 is actually sharper than the RF 50 1.2 and 1/3 the cost. AND it focuses 2x faster than both RF 50 lenses (1.2 and 1.8)
    The 70-200 EF III is about tied with the RF version, but it actually focuses BETTER in some situations than the RF version (just watched a head to head) AND it has a much more useable zoom ring than the RF version. The throw is shorter, easier and the zoom ring is closer to the camera. And MAN is it SHARP!
    Definitely don't get caught up in the marketing/youtube hype that you NEED RF lenses.
    Oh and bonus! The Sigma Art lenses have 7 year warranties in Canada, Canon only has 1. Boom.

    • @JaredHoyman
      @JaredHoyman  Рік тому +1

      In the US we have spectrum that is around $70 for 500 down 20 up, which isn't bad. Now with the fiber at 1000/1000 for $80 I hope to see businesses compete for our money. Personally I would have been fine with 200mbps down and 200 up. The upload is what is important to me.
      Love that you mentioned those lenses. I haven't had a 50mm prime in years, but ever since sigma 50 1.4 came out years ago I have eyed it and wanted it. I know it out performs the Canon EF 1.2. The Tamron 70-200 G2 has a super short throw in zoom and I barely even have to move it. It is built like a tank and I do have to be creative getting it into my bag. That all being said I found someone who bought it in November brand new, decided to switch to sony and I talked him down to $700. Way better than $2k for canon or $1500 for Canon's EF used. If I find myself using this focal length more often I may go to the Canon Mark III version of the 70-200, but that may not be necessary. The benefit of the RF is how small it is and portable.

    • @77dris
      @77dris Рік тому +1

      @@JaredHoyman Hah, yeah. Most people have no idea about upload speeds nor do they care. I used to have to upload GBs of photos after shows and for me upload speeds are important. Even the ISPs here would look at me funny when I told them I wanted fast upload. 200/200 would be fantastic. Honestly 75/50 I have now is more than fast enough. But most ISPs here are still 5 to 10 upstream speeds.
      Tamrons are great. The new 35mm Tamron for EF is supposed to be the sharpest one you can get... even better than the EF. If I didn't prefer 50mm, I would have got that one (though the Sigma 35 is also very good). I paid $2000 cdn brand new for the 70-200 III (which is around $1500 us) on Amazon and got the 4 yr extended amazon warranty. Good gawd it is sharp (as are the Sigmas... the 50mm is the sharpest lens I've ever owned).

    Unfortunately my neighborhood is stuck with either ATT DSL 50/10 or Spectrum, needed speed and DSL was crap. The real kicker is that neighboring neighborhoods have TWO fiber ISPs, including ATT fiber. Guess they don’t deem us profitable enough to install here. Spectrum knows it, so getting shafted for $80/month non promo rates for 300/10

    So I’m in DFW and have been here since 2007. My family had Verizon FiOS basically since we moved here until they got bought out by frontier fiber in 2016. Since then, my parents divorced in 2021, my dad moved to another place with Frontier fiber and still has that, and my mom moved to a place with AT&T fiber. I’ve got to say once you get fiber you can’t go back. But for Frontier for a while we were paying 220 a month for cable tv, 500/500 mbps internet, and phone. However, he is now paying 90 a month for 1gig/1gig and phone. My mom on the other hand is paying 80 a month for att fiber 1gig/1gig. Both homes are in the DFW area and honestly, I have to say that AT&T fiber is miles better than Frontier fiber in terms of reliability and customer service (however frontier fiber is still miles better than spectrum in my opinion). I don’t know who designs the call centers of just about all national companies but, WOW, how infuriating and makes people not wanting to deal with them!! Many times most of the time they connect you with the wrong department they have to transfer to another person and have to go though the same bullshit all over again. Usually, I end up getting PISSED and hanging up. Seems to me they design the call centers using the same system as the IRS. Would so appreciate just dealing a number and a real English speaking person answer the phone. But again call and a computer answers the phone and is unable to understand what I am saying. I really really hate not getting a human being on the phone in the first place!!!

AT&T fiber is available for me now, the new splice box is in my backyard, however Spectrum has been rock solid reliable so I will stick with them. Spectrum internet is expensive so I bundled Spectrum wireless with it and it is a good deal. I'm an AT&T retiree with a 50% discount and I would still rather have Spectrum because of reliability.

      I've had it now for almost 9months. No outages. 1gig up and down, which Spectrum Cannot do that. I pay $80 for my gig whereas spectrum had 400 down and 20 upload for $75. I bundled my 4 lines unlimited data for $135. UNBEATABLE! I had spectrum for over 20yrs and there were at least 2-3 outages a year and some outages were over 24hrs. ATT having all their fiber buried makes all the difference and the reliability is amazing. I would be on the phone with spectrum all the time trying to get service restored and every year they would increase your plans price whereas with ATT I locked in for life. Fiber out performs cable on so many levels. I kept spectrum for a month after getting att fiber installed to continue to run benchmarks in order to make sure it was the right choice and it's a no brainer. You may want to do the same thing because you will find that the ATT you were used to is not the same as it is now with true fiber.
