    Kudos to you, and we can't forget Bobby K. and Captain Mike!
    Pilot Ryan, what an inspiration you are. I wager that I'm almost old enough to be your dad and when I was a kid, RC hobbies cost a fortune. I dabbled with some "retired" aircraft purchased from a neighbor who was an expert pattern flyer, but in 1974 a 14 year old kid couldn't afford $400 4 channel transmitters an 80 dollar receivers. Not when wages were $2.50/HR., so I went with model rockets instead.
    The EDF bug bit me really hard when I saw your review on the EFlight F-15 ( own one now), then you and Nathan Saylor talked me into buying an Arrows Marlin. Blessings on both of you. Now the addiction is complete, if still in its infancy, but symptoms diverge. Easy flying warbirds? Enter Flight Test. Now we're building a Master Series F4U Corsair. Life is good. But then you had to go and dangle the Arrows 50mm Viper in front of me. Shame on you. Here I sit, with a brand new Viper all set up with the Admiral Rx600sp and Admiral 3S 2200 35c packs. Thank you for your thoughtful, entertaining and informative flight reviews and live streaming vids. You've brought back the kid in me and re-introduced me to a much more affordable and diverse hobby than I could have imagined. Keep on keepin' on!

    I upped the esc to a 35amp Mantis esc and run a 1600mAh 4S 70C battery in my Viper. Using an on-board GPS I was able to squeeze in I hit 96mph with mine. Once you run it on a 4S you won't bother with a 3S battery anymore. With a 4S it will pull right out of your hand on launch. Have flown mine numerous times going full throttle and have had no.problems with the motor or esc handling the 4S battery.

    Ryan, no doubt, slick line landing!! You created inspiration for yet another RC plane competition type event! Like with R/C STOL planes!! The new challenge is landing EDF's on the line for as long as possible (points per second) and who comes closest to whatever target is on the runway (duct tape circle target maybe...) I can totally see it! I think 'WE' out here in "YT Viewerland" would dig at least one episode where you and Bobby gave that a shot! Best regards brother, Dave

    I bought 2 Vipers and an extra fuse. I know you’re busy, but when you find the time could you do a “How to” video on adding a workable rudder and how to crave out the servo pocket? (Hence my ordering the extra fuse and servo for the Viper) I bet there’s a bunch of guys that watch you, Chris at RC GEEK, Brian Phillips and the Boozers who, like me say- “I can add a servo to a vertical stab... nothing to it.”.... and fail.

    I waited as long as I could for Ryan, or Wes, or Dave, or Jeff to do it, but so far no one has-
    I’ve added a workable rudder. (Same positioning as the Marlin)
    That wasn’t enough- I added a FMS kv5400 motor and a 40 amp ESC.
    This should be a blast!

    I just bought a 50mm Arrows Viper and have yet to fly it. Anticipating great fun with this little jet! Thanks for all your great flight reviews and advice. I have a question. When watching other flight videos ( the sub-titled Chinese vids), I noticed that at least twice there was stated in the sub-titles that they were flying on 4s 1500mAh batteries. Is this exclusive of models released in Asia, or will the North American version support 14.8 V as well? What a little speedster this plane would be!!

I really want a EDF but there all so slow compared to my prop plane F27 modified until you go 6s and i just don't wanna go that big. 5min flight on a 2200 3s is also killer deal.. if you do the Rudder mod be sure to do a video when you do it.

    Monday was the Best Day Ever (SpongeBob reference) I’ve ever had maidening two planes. Might have been that I finally got my fine motor, balance and vision back after a month Covid-19. This little jet was a blast to fly. I threw in an Admiral gyro/stability receiver, “I” button as a panic switch. Never used it. Other than the 1st lap I was in 70/30 rates with a Roaring Top1800 3s 70c. I’m not sure if I ever had to trim it out. (3 batteries worth, 2200 3s Venom’s for the 2nd and 3rd flight)
    There’s really nothing you can’t do with this jet, rock solid stable.
    Perfect EDF if you were scared to try a jet. I was surprised how quick it turned, but never had it out of control, just slowly recorrected and it leveled out. I felt like it was designed to self correct. Never a bad moment with it in the air. Throw in the price, this jet is a no brainer. Perfect first jet, perfect jet for a smaller field, perfect jet to get your confidence up to take the next step up in bigger EDF’s.

    Although I've never flown a EDF yet. The little thing looks like fun. Very quick for a 50mm. She's a Bank n Yank Baby! Fun to watch it zip around. Is there room for a rudder servo? I'd have one, cause I love to tinker, but $40 more gets you a Marlin with flapps n rudder. Great video, stay safe. AirHammer out!!

    • @toolbaggers
      @toolbaggers 4 роки тому

      Rudder's nice but didn't you see how slow she could fly? I think flaps would just weigh it down too much and wouldn't be too good for the belly landings.

    • @airhammer6203
      @airhammer6203 4 роки тому +1

      @@toolbaggers hello😀 I agree it can fly slowly and a rudder would help it maintain that slow flight in a turn. It would also allow it to knife edge and increase areobatics. In Ryan's maiden flight video, he and Bobby were discussing a rudder for this jet. I would NOT install flapps on a belly lander. A rudder would cost about $20. A Marlin(after rudder install on 50mm Viper) is $20 more and has it all plus 4s power. Be safe and fly well Gypsy.

    I JUST got one from Hobby Zone and put a CNHL 2200mah 3s 50c almost all the way back and launched it overhand at full throttle with a nice up throw like you did and it wouldnt even fly. It came right down like it just didnt have enough juice and the nose broke off. Tried again after fixing it and it still didnt have enough power to fly and broke again. Does this happen often? Im not sure what the issue is. Does the battery need a super high c-rating?? I used a 50c. Does it need 100c or higher????? Im so confused as to why it was so bad and so weak to the point where it wouldnt even fly. 😕Super upset because yours took off like a champ yet mine didnt have any power to even fly. The only amount it flew was from my throw. I wonder how often they have faulty motors or esc?? The sad thing is that I can guarantee that Hobby Zone wont help me out. Any thoughts?
    I know it is a CHEAP edf for most but for me $150 is not cheap. 😢

I did a pre check to make sure everything was programmed to move the correct way and checked afterwards and all control surfaces were set up right. It makes no sense brother. Don't be offended by anything here...I have no way of knowing what your level of experience is. What type of battery? C Rating? Old or new? Battery might be your issue. I would try a lighter battery as they recommend a 1300 and some older 2200's are quite heavy. I don't have one of these yet, but most folks I see launch pretty much full throttle. Don't try a hard climb before it has some airspeed. Don't try launching at too steep of an up angle. If you launch and get in the elevator hard, it will probably stall and nose down. I had a similar experience when I bought my pusher prop Shark plane. Nosed it in about three times and broke in a few places until I got the hang of hand launching with the help of a friend to show me how to launch it.
