- I'm actually really like the bands ballad - it is beautiful melody and he sings very accurate and strong, nice voice but also great ability of delivering not just message but emotions. He has himself in this song, I felt it physically.
1996.
Lyrics
The time is close now, the end is near
My walk through the valley, trails of fear
I feel empty, my penance overdue, I guess it's too late now
To be with you
I'm extremely frightened of what will surely be
I sold myself, the death of me
I know you can't forgive me
I know I'm on my own, I've betrayed you
I walk alone
What exactly is the meaning of this
Just pawns in your twisted game
Severe pain for the lie I'm livin'
For a love I never could betray
Question me not say the lord unto thee
You have chosen your own fate and your own destiny
Denied of this life is what you are to be
You have chosen your own fate and your own destiny
Lord I pound my fists at you
Won't you just let me die
Would I not suffer enough
No inner peace no after life
I did what I thought was right
All for the love of my life
I know it's sad but true
Something is very wrong
Condemned to suffer so long
For a love so true
The question that lies within
Is so hard to understand
It still tears at me
And in my dying breath
My heart holds no regrets
I wouldn't change a thing
My spirit begins to rise into the heavenly skies
Just to be shunned away by you
Now all I want is to die, no streets of gold in the sky
And I wash my hands of you
Rising to the heavens light
Just to plea for death
Just to be denied..

The song that you sings is also from Iced Earth. It's Watching Over Me.
I am a simple guy. Someone reacts to Iced Earth, I sub. Great reaction!
Literally did the same! 😂😂😂
So do I dude, iced earth so underrated
You are right, Watching over me its an Iced earth song too ))) amazing btw song
What makes singer Matt Barlow so awesome is his ability to emote the songs to the audience. You feel the everything when he sings which is why he will always be the "Voice of Iced Earth".
The album the Dark Saga is the story of comic book character Spawn. A black ops member who enjoyed his work too much (killing). He was betrayed by his boss and killed in action. His soul went to Hell and The Devil made him a deal who couldn't refuse: Command my legions of Hellspawn in the war against Heaven and I will return you to Earth to look after your wife. Of course The Devil ( who we later find out was a Demon Prince named Malebogia) doesn't quite live up to his end of the bargain and sends him back 5 years later in a rotting corpse with super powers. It's a very tragic story that involves betrayal on many levels. If you're interest I suggest watching either the animated series Todd McFarland's Spawn that was on HBO or the live action movie with Michael-Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen. The qanimated series is better and more true to the comics in both story and tone but much harder to find than the movie.
This is my favorite album by Iced Earth and one of my Top 100 Albums of all time. Every song describes a character in the comics and is a gut punch of emotions. I get teary-eyed every time I here it and I've been listening to it for over 20 years.
I would say that Dark Saga is the best adaptation of the Spawn story ever made.
Thank you for reacting to one of my favourite band and singer ever. Keep it up and much respect!
The song you are thinking of that sounds familiar is also by Iced Earth It's called "Watching Over Me"
Iced Earth have the same patterns in multiple songs.
The song you are thinking of is Watching over Me by Iced Earth too.
Iced Earth are one of those rare bands that their live performances sound almost identical to their studio albums. That takes a lot of skill and practice.
I actually saw Jon mess up ONCE live, on Wolf. But one mistake in an hour and a half set? Might as well be flawless
I watched them with Stu twice. That guy can get as high as it gets
You are mistaken
In some occasions they are better
I really like Iced Earth. A while ago when you asked if we (as the viewers) had lists, I suggested 'Melancholy' from Iced Earth, but this one is great too. So I have nothing to complain about :)
This is the First time I have heard of Iced Earth... Quite impressed with them..
They are amazing ! Enjoy.
Damn... where have you been? (unless you are very young) Iced Earth is arguably one the best power metal bands of all time... been around over 30 years, 12 studio albums, over 20 band members, including 5 singers (most notable that you might know being Tim 'Ripper' Owens from Judas Priest) and pretty much the closest thing you will ever get to an American Iron Maiden.
Don't let the constant line-up changes and multiple vocalists fool you... every era w/ each singer is amazing, they all rock! I honestly can't choose between Barlow, Owens and Block... they are all that good. Take a dive down the rabbit hole... well worth it!
first 2 albums have the most insane triplets you will ever heard.. learning songs from them were the key to improve my ryhthm playing
hear it from 1996, those are Goosebumps !!!!
Wow! Am am a huge Iced Earth fan and I never noticed the similarity between Watching Over Me until you mentioned it. Great ear!
One of my favorite songs ever.!! Have seen them twice in concert.! And I finish crying at the end of this song.! Lol.! 🤘🏻
"A Question of Heaven", "Watching Over Me", "Always Somewhere" and "When the Smoke Is Going Down" are all my favorite songs
I couldn't concentrate on the song because I couldn't get over how spectacular Yu's jacket is.
I Love YOU ! You're are so cute in your throwback early days! 😍💜
That song your thinking of is the same band but the song is called watching over me
Min 2:28 , you were singing Iced Earth, Watching over me, lovely song , I listen to it as load as possible
Oh, I know, oh, I know
He's watching over me
Melechesh - Multiple truths next pls ! Its a rare hidden gem that sets a high standard for the very band that created it. It's a very tasty and fascinating mix between beautifull melodic lines and mystic a thmosphere and sick heavy riffage. The thematic and lyrics are at least as fascinating and they quite well balance the message with the instrumentation. There are definitely black and death metal influences but that's doesn't really tells you a lot about their sound. Can't wait to see you reaction !
As a long time Iced Earth fan, I really appreciate your genuine reaction to this song and live performance. Matt Barlow is a legendary vocalist. Their new singer Stu Block is incredible too. Check out "If I Could See You Now"👈
You gain me 🤘🤘🤘🤘
You were singing Watching over me by the same ICED EARTH JEJEJEJE so now i am suscribes jejeje
Definitely watching over me, which ironically was on the NEXT Iced Earth album, Something Wicked This Way Comes.
You have a beautiful voice, BTW
"No complaining "your musical instincts are awesome.L❤ve watching you break down various types of music. You're awesome. 🤘👍
You wanna see the peak of their career? Go for Travel In Stygian (Alive In Athens version).
Love how you feel the music 🤘
Matt Barlow (former singer of Iced Earth) is also a police officer who left music after 9/11 , he said "he needs to contribute more than just the entertainment" ... now he has is own band "Ashes Of Ares" , btw you should check this guy from older times, his hair was INSANE! Ginger and long as NINE PLAINS OF HELL
He has one of the best metal voices out there (with Eric Adams from Manowar)
Iced Earth is one one my favorite bands. A few songs to check out are Ten Thousand Strong, Clear The Way, and Attila. The song you were singing was Watching Over Me, also from this great band !!!
Oh, How could I forget about Iced Earth.
The live performance from Athens is unequalled. Pls check it.
SO MUCH POWER IN HIS VOICE, Matt Barlow is my favorite singer ever
Damn I would listen to a whole version of "Watching over me" by you ;)
Best band of the 90es no doubt
Iced earth I died for you
Matt Barlow, the singer. His voice makes everything better.
Yes it sounds similar to 'Watching over me', which is the 4. song of the follow up album "Something Wicked This Way Comes".
Blind guardian- bard song/valhalla live wacken 2016. Its a must! Thank me later 😅😅
"...all I want is to die, no streets of gold in the sky, and I wash my hands of you!"
Do legacy in a rhyme by pyramaze! Such incredible voice.
Another GREAT band! TY! I truly appreciate great musicians, and vocalists, in all genres of music. I don`t know if you've ever heard THIS guy sing, but he's currently one of the best (if not the best) male vocalists on the planet today (not metal though). His name is Dimash Kudaibergen, and he WILLgive you goosebumps (he's from Kazakhstan, and actually plays in Russia quite often) ... check out all his stuff ... mindblowing ... ua-cam.com/video/cCwiZdFz63w/v-deo.html ___ ua-cam.com/video/8k1AHMxq-0g/v-deo.html
Barlow is a magical singer, true voice and spirit, you should digg iced earth songs more, charming \m/
Its It's interesting that he quit the band to become a police officer. There's a video of him singing the National Anthem at a sporting event dressed in his police uniform
@@odjrvfjdjr3261 at least he is the best singing cop :)
Epic song
They did great covers of Kiss' God of Thunder and Judas Priest's Screaming For Vengeance.
I will never forget the first time I heard this song. Being a religious person, it really touched my spirit near the end of the song where he is acknowledging that he betrayed God. That is actually Matt Barlow’s sister(the vocalist) who is singing the Angelic voices in the background in the chorus. You have to react to watching over me.
To correct you, it's Schaffer's sister and Barlow's Wife Kate
@@larrykinnard to correct you actually no it’s Kate Matt’s sister and he’s married to Katie though who is Schaffer’s sister. It’s understandable why that is mistaken a lot.
@@marshalforward8166 then I guess the Metal Archives are incorrect
@@marshalforward8166 This is word for word from the metal archives "Kate is the wife of former Iced Earth singer Matt Barlow and the sister of Iced Earth founder Jon Schaffer." "1996 The Dark Saga Vocals (female) (track 10)"
@@larrykinnard a random website on the internet is incorrect there is a good chance of that yes. Why don’t you I don’t know look at the credits of the Dark Saga album which Matt directly thanks his dear sister Kate Barlow not his wife Katie Barlow who married around the Horror Show album era by the way for her singing contributions to a Question of Heaven.
Elements of Queensryche, but grittier. Great reaction BTW, your best in a while. You have a nice melodic skill. Good song, I have not heard it before. 🇨🇦
there is a more epic version of this ,that it will make you cry. Alive in Athens is orgasmic.
Watching over me, is from the next Iced Earth album, Something wicked this way comes.
Both songs are in a trilogy. On the Dark Saga album.
This song is emotionally amazing, indeed. :)
I died for you reaction
10:44 this song isn't about himself, it's about spawn (todd mcfarlane)
Yes that song you were singing is an Iced Earth song
Watching over me, right?
@@dimitrijepetkovic9099 I believe so
Could you please do a reaction to Badflower Jester. I think you will find it very touching with a good message
Eu gosto dessa música.
Watching Over me. Song your talking about.
Another great reaction!!! Never get tired of them. Got another one for you. Collective Soul "The World I Know". I've heard this song many times but never watched the music video. I'm a grown man and it brought me to tears at the end. (Spoiler alert) they were tears of joy. Please check it out. Thanks again!!!
Of course Rick, I’ll check it for myself, I promise. ☮️💜☮️ you share good music
@@IYOU Thank you I try lol!!!
React to this song
Judas Priest: "Prisoner of your eyes"
Teaze: "Heartless World"
Evile: "In Memoriam"
Iced Earth: "Dante's Inferno"
Love that song, oh and Damien.
Edit: the live version is better in my opinion from the album called Bang Your Head.
It has that metallica vibe and sound to it
Matt Barlow 🤘🤘🤘❤
You should have reviewed the coming curse by iced earth!🙂🙂
Slednecks would be a good tune to listen too. This band is fantastic!
Another great band from Germany you should listen to is Brainstorm and a band from Norway called Pagan's Mind.
Привет! Сейчас некогда,завтра посмотрю!
Ok, love that you liked the song, but you seriously look like a dragon at moments (nice eyes, 10:17) ! Nicely done!
song inspired from the movie SPAWN
Where have you beenl
😅😅😅u were funny at the WATCHING OVER ME PART....u know ure iced earth uhhhh
Is everyone else also in love with this girl?
*lust,,,😎
No she's ugly
they are very good
You might react to Melancholy (Holy martyr) from Iced Earth and I recomend Faith and Decision From Versailles please react to!!
You should react to a band from sweeton called" Meshuggah
This group seems a kind of similar type of Queensryche ( without your ex dear asshole 😂) in many slow parts , then it becomes different strong similar to group "Moonspell " , it s a mix of copy styles ! But when you turn on the light playing a little piece of ' "when the smoke is going down" you made me really happy, thank youuuu 🖤🖤 !! What a heavenly song, i would like to see your heaven expression listeing at this song but i know you can' t do it 😥
Another good video, the song was okay.
A group you might like is "Mastodon":
- Bedazzled Fingernails
- Ghost if Karelia
- Oblivion
- All the Heavy Lifting
- Stargasm
In this song, I hear a bit of similarity to Queensryche, but also some similarities to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, especially in certain parts of the song.
5:30 I really like this part of the song, the music and the vocals are very nice right here.
5:57 to 6:17 -- Too much beauty... Your harmonizing is so absolutely wonderful here, it really adds so much to the song. It's been so long since I've listened to Iced Earth, I wonder if they've ever used female vocals in conjunction with the male vocals? If not, they should, this is proof of that!
7:40 -- It is the trademark of a great song, when you literally feel it physically in your body, as much as you might also feel it emotionally.
I watched this twice, and I would watch it ten times if you did harmonizing vocals throughout the song! Song purists might complain, but me? NO COMPLAIN! 🙂
5:13 to 5:27 Definitely reminds me of Nothing Else Matters.
Please watch Disturbed sound of silence
Watching over me
This album “ I Died For You” слушаешь эту песню
Try Reacting to JINJER - pisces.
One of my favorite songs of all time. The studio version is way better, as Matt Barlow was younger and had better tuning and vocal range. Please listen to the studio version until the end. It's waaaaaay better! 😁
sounds like geoff tate from queensryche
absolutly ... quite a plagium at his style of singing , and after this turns stronger singing plaging singer of Moonspell if you know them ..
I love your videos. Next song to react - you should see Pisces by Jinjer (live session). But please - do not search for something about this band before reacting. It could spoil the effect. Few facts - a death metal band from Ukraine with female singer, Tatiana
already done this )
I don't mean to complain. It was a cool video by a talented band, but please watch ghost's "He Is" Beautiful melodies, great singing. Acoustic guitars and also electric for great solos.
I promise I will, “ghost he is “
@@IYOU Thank you!!! You are the best. Also thank you for doing all these videos, it opened my eyes to different bands and different type's of music.
... react to Iced earth - burning time (live)
Check out junkyard the song simple man
on the studio version the angelic voices are more pronounced.. the moment you stopped it, you missed it..
I like your voice. When you were singing along, it would have gone well with the song
What exactly is the meaning of this:?!
they might have similar harmony and key....not structure...you havent even heard the structure of this song to know what it is like...
the version at alive in athens is way better
thanks, but the sound is so aweful ;(
Meh....not bad but not great. How about Killswitch Engage "The end of Heartache". One of the better vocalists in heavy metal. Very underrated.
