I want that in my kitchen.. Okay saving pallets doing this to my new kitchen walls, including my moveable island. Plus it's going to save my butt a load of $$ and it's going to look perfect
Love all the textures of pallet wood, you did a great job with the placement of each one. We spent way too much time doing this when we built our pallet wall :)
Aaah! What a beautiful, darling wall Tom, you are a Darling. Oh, that's also your name. Awesome! I've never seen nor heard of that kind of wall before. Great job. 🙋🙋🙋 👍
Great, greetings from Chile, great job, congratulations, how did you do it with the wood treatment before? Did you brush it or sand it and then stain it or natural?
duct tape, GREAT idea! I've been watching a few videos on these so I can make mine perfect, One idea was to cut the board width-wise so you've got double the boards! also going to sand mine all down and paint them with a 2 to 1 water and paint mixture
Thanks for the comment Kris! There are lots of ways to do these walls and I am sure yours is going to be beautiful. Would love to see the finished product!
Mark Irwin , not really other than just cleaned all the dirt off of it really well I did pressure wash some of it but not wanting to take the Rustic coating off. Some of us have put a light coat of matte finish polyurethane but I made sure to inspect all the wood for termites and other insects before putting it on the wall. Definitely stay away from the part of the palate that is mint in mud and dirt.
May sound like a silly question but did you have to sand down the boards, stain them before hanging or was that all natural? It turned out beautiful great job! Bty which pallets should you avoid for doing an interior wall or vegetable garden I heard some pallets have a chemical spray on them?
Friendly tip. NEC 314.20 requires the use of a Spark Guard aka Box Extender such as Arlington BE1-2. By extending the outlet out of the box you may have a fire hazard.
I realize that it has been a while since you posted but I was wondering what size brad nails are you using. also if you were hitting any studs when you tacked it into the wall, looked like it was just sort of placed randomly up there and not really on the markings. we are working on our wall shortly and am needing assistance. Thanks for your cool video Tom it helped a bunch seeing how yours turned out Outstanding!!
I tried to nail into the studs in the wall. I used 2 inch nails in my angle nailer. There are some that did not go into studs, but were to just make contact in the drywall...those were 1 inch brads.
Hi Tom, Where did you source the wood? & did you notice much of an acoustic change in the room post wood wall in terms of diffusion & absorption? Thanks, Kyle
Hello, Kyle. I sourced the wood from a bunch of old pallets that I found on Craigslist for free. I also have found many at supply yards around town. The sound in the room did dampen quite a bit.
Your door didn't make any sense to me in the beginning but the final result was amazing, I will do that in a ugly wall so when I'm tire I will change everything
Hey Tom Darling, thanks for your video, really nice and helpful. One question though, you think I could work the same project over a bricks wall ? no plaster, bare bricks?? I would appreciate your tips, thanks.
Just add some wooden runners like 1½x3 or something like that vertically and anchor them in with mortar screws and then you can use those slats as something to bite into with the parkers boards. Much like how roofers install metal roofs on existing asphalt single roofs. You space them out either 12 or 16 inches in center just like you would wall studs.
I started at the top edge of the door to make sure that the header holding the door up blended into the wall. This meant that I had to trim the top and bottom boards, but embedded the header for the barn door.
Nice look. Is the adhesive a necessary step, as it would be difficult to remove during a future remodel? I'm looking to do this in a basement bedroom...just wondering. Well done, and thanks.
Keith Avery the adhesion is not necessary if you have plenty of studs and the boards are long enough to adhere to those studs. I wanted to make sure that the boards were not going to come off the wall and the wall is definitely going to be permanent.
cutflower no I did not send any of the boards. I just made sure though on some of them except him to the right whip so that I could use them like putting together a puzzle.
I am really sorry for that last reply LOL. I was voice to text in a restaurant. What I was trying to say was the only thing I did was run them through my table saw to make them all similar widths
Why not paint wall dark brown or black, black tape looks cheap, and glueing to wall crazy, unless you are going to live with that for life, but if you take it down, all the sheetrock will have to come down to, no way in heck can you change, or even repair, but love the look! For me, I would slat the wall, then nail the pallet boards up, plus put the barn door up last.
I never see anyone explain how dangerous some pallet wood can be inside your home. Not trying to be one of those guys because it does look great. Consider toxic/noxious chemicals, mold, fungus, insect larvae!
I liked your idea of black tape! Thanks
One of the easiest pallet wall videos I’ve seen yet! Looks great!
Oh wow it looks really good. I love it, breaking pallets to do the same.
thank you for responding and sharing your information. now I can get started.
I like the music....Felt like i was watching a spagetti western. Was thinking clint eastwood would pop out.
Great video.... Thanks

Great Job Tom, Thanks for sharing, id like to do the same at the Ranch.
Great, greetings from Chile, great job, congratulations, how did you do it with the wood treatment before? Did you brush it or sand it and then stain it or natural?
I like the new look
Parabéns! Lindo de se ver . Mais uma inscrita ! 😍👏
Great job! Thanks for the upload ad tips.
i love your videos tom
Its nice😊
how did you finish around the electric boxes? did you need to pull them out or did you cut around them?
I cut around them and then extended them out a little bit
Heel mooi gedaan. Er wordt niet meer geschuurd?
Are you nailing into studs or just into the sheet rock?
New Subscriber just because that looks amazing
fantastic
Did you do make any cuts to the boards before applying them to the wall?

Tom Darling I'll try to make a video and see how it turns out. Thank you sir!
Nice!
Did you do anything to the wood, in regards to cleaning it, before attaching to the wall? Any concerns about bugs?

Great Looking wall Tom
Thanks Rich! We should try a live stream build one day!
could be fun. let me know when you have a idea on the project.

I did not. they are exactly as they came off the pallets. I did wipe off dust and use my air compressor to clean them.
Pallets that are treated are the ones to watch out for. Usually, you can tell by the color. Newer pallets that are lighter and wood grain are cleaner.
Hi Tom. Looks great. How did you handle the added thickness of the wall and the electrical outlet?
I actually used longer screws on the outlet so I could extend the plug at the level of the wood. We added about 3/4" of thickness to the wall.
Friendly tip. NEC 314.20 requires the use of a Spark Guard aka Box Extender such as Arlington BE1-2. By extending the outlet out of the box you may have a fire hazard.
Do you stain the boards ? Plane them before or what ? Looking to do a pallet wall

super wall...question...why you started from the top??...some diference
I started at the top edge of the door to make sure that the header holding the door up blended into the wall. This meant that I had to trim the top and bottom boards, but embedded the header for the barn door.
Nice done!!
What size of nails did you use ?
1 3/4 finish nails
@@maker-logic thanks
Que ferramenta ele estar usando para pregar as madeiras
Looks great! Approx how many pallets was this??
About 12 or 13
Looks awesome! Can I ask how many pallets it took, roughly?
It took about 12 pallets to do the wall
Nice look. Is the adhesive a necessary step, as it would be difficult to remove during a future remodel? I'm looking to do this in a basement bedroom...just wondering. Well done, and thanks.

10-4. That makes sense. Thank you for your response. Again, I like the look of your project.
Hey this room looks familiar ?? You aren't by chance near Soddy Daisy TN and related to Carlos Wilson are you?
Steve Burns No, I am in New Mexico!
Where do you find pallets?
Usually from places like Home Depot, Lowe's, and other warehouses where they ship large products.
Файно 😊👍
Really nice, did u sand any?
cutflower no I did not send any of the boards. I just made sure though on some of them except him to the right whip so that I could use them like putting together a puzzle.
Tom Darling thanks
I'm ripping the bords off now.
I am really sorry for that last reply LOL. I was voice to text in a restaurant. What I was trying to say was the only thing I did was run them through my table saw to make them all similar widths
Tom Darling oh yeah I no what you mean. The smart dumb phones put in what they want you to say. 😂 thanks. I think I can do it.
what stain did u use for the woods?
No stain. These are all the natural colors of the different pallets.
@@maker-logic mahalo
Did you use a stain on the pallet wood?
kay jay I did not use any stain, as this is all the natural weathering of the pallets that I had. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the question! No stain added at all, this is all the natural color of the aged pallet wood I used.
But did you use stain? Haha. Looks great. I would love for you to walk us through a few rows so we can understand your choices of starting length.
