I like how casual co-op is. I'm able to enjoy it with a few friends who USED to play starcraft years ago. They login, we drink a few beers and catch up. It's good times.
I came to this channel assuming it was a fairly popular channel around 10k subs but when I saw that you only had close to 500 I was shocked and laughing at how well the videos were made. Good luck to the future of your channel I’m just getting into Starcraft 2 now and it helped a lot.
For me Mengsk and H&H are fun commanders to play. Also Mengsk has the most memorable voice lines from all of commanders. "Figh our enemies in the field or we will be fighting them in our home"
I know I'm late. But I really love Stukov. Not only is he fun to play, but his abilities and strategies are so well suited for pretty much every situation.
It is worth noting that Mengsk's special medivacs have a custom AI that blizzard was experimenting with. It was supposed to keep them from flying over the enemy army by making them stay a bit behind the rest of your troops, but I've found that usually it makes all but one of them unresponsive and unable to heal troops or drop troops that have been picked up. Blizzard still hasn't patched this bug, and I don't know if they ever will.
@@kaneconqueror6560 That's such a kick in the balls though...I usually try to do everything I can to keep my troopers alive. Might just have to double up on the intercessors then.
Agreed. I've found that their life expectancy increases significantly by having about four flame throwers in the mix, to stand up front and tank so the rest don't get hit with splash damage.
I have found his p3 to be the best one there is. It makes his troops so much more efficient and the cost for each gun is way better. (its 40/20, not 120min) and the tactical nuke allows you to one-shot bosses with aoe that a trooper based army would normally struggle. I have one-shot hybrid on part and parcel by just spamming troops. It also helps his defensive abilities a lot as a full bunker no longer takes 1300 minerals but only 340/120 and comes with 6 tactical nukes as well. If you're fast enough you can drop troops in the battle and upgrade them to make mini nukes. The imperial intercessor being gone just means you shouldn't build biological royal guard units. This gets rid of some of his frontline tanks, but the nukes make up for it. I have noticed the enemy units like to clump up a lot making the tactical nukes even better. (Edit: the grind for merchant of death was worth it in my opinion, there are so many upsides and not many downsides that it makes it the best prestige for mengsk)
but p3 also means you can't pick up weapons after the troopers died and you need the vespene gas for the royal guards, 160 minerals isn't that much of a deal tbh
Hey Toxic Spill, I first saw this video about a year ago, and Ive thought about it once or twice every week since. I think this is one of the most interesting videos I’ve ever seen because my brain cannot comprehend it exists. Every time I think about it, I convince myself that there is no way you spent seven and a half minutes on an introduction. I watch it again thinking I must have exaggerated something even though I’ve done this every week for the last year, but I’m proven wrong every time, it’s always exactly how I remembered it, even the part where you boast about being the only StarCraft 2 youtuber who isn’t “allergic of editing” in the middle of a seven minute intro. I know there’s no way for this to not be taken the wrong way but I really want to share this with you because I sincerely adore this video. Proofreading is a large part of my job and I think about this seven minute intro every time I proofread, like a looming shadow represent everything I must avoid. I shared this with all of my friends and we still talk about it. Seriously, this video is crazy and I thank you for making it.
My personal favorite is stukov, i find him kind of the "throw shit at the wall until it breaks" commander, startingwith waves of infested, spamming calldowns like they're nothing, sending waves of infested mechs, letting them die since it doesn't matter, and I can't heal them anyway.
I've found great success with Fleshwelder, or P1 I think it was called. Just spam diamondbacks. Literally the strongest unit in his roster. Haven't tried it on brutal yet, but it's so strong on hard I think it might just be viable to mass diamondbacks and not give a fuck. Plus fleshwelder REALLY makes defense missions a lot easier.
I was looking around youtube for coop guides and most where incredibly fast paced with terms i do not understand, placed on brutal difficulty and with turbo high APMs so i was having a rough time understanding, your guides actually taught me what i needed to know without overfeeding me knowledge. Amazing work, you deserve more recognition. May i ask what you have in mind for the future?
@@Sonarchyy I play on making different style videos yet still having my guides. As it goes for games, I play any genre as long as I find the game fun. I mainly gravitate towards the RPG, RTS and co-op shooters.
@@ToxicSpilll I have a similar taste, but without the shooter games. I advise games made by the Larian Studio to you, they are RPG-based, often with the necessary tactical combats. Have fun!
Congrats on the channel; looking forward to more vids in the future! Mengsk and Stukov are by far my favorite commanders, largely because they combine Zerg swarm mechanics with terran firepower.
One of the most detailed reviews about Co-op Commanders. You deserve more views and subscribers. I really have difficulties choosing between Mengsk and Alarak.
The SC2 servers were down so I hopped on UA-cam and saw this had been posted 28 minutes before, and I was like, "Daaamn perfect timing, I been waiting on this." Honestly, I love the series and am glad to have found your channel. This type of content isn't what made your videos so good, you are what made them so good, so keep it up. I will be following your channel from here forward because damn you can make some good stuff. Also thanks for all the breakdowns of the commanders, they've helped me perform better with commanders I have struggled with. This video series of yours has inspired me and given me ideas for my own on my channel, so I thank you for that as well. I previously thought I couldn't make SC content, because I couldn't find any good SC content and I thought the game just wasn't good for videos... boy was I proved wrong when I found this series... seriously, good work, and thank you for this series. I'll probably be rewatching some of the videos periodically, cause they genuinely help me when I am struggling to figure out a commander.
Enough to make a grown man cry! I hope you have success with your channel and remember that the only way you will get better is by doing and not sitting around. I learned that the hard way...
@@ToxicSpilll thank you! Im taking that to heart because I know that is true, i need to just do it. Also im sure you've had your fill of coop content (thats an assumption though of course) but if you ever want to play coop together or take part in the videos ill make, you're very welcome. When I say take part, I just mean talk a bit, ill still produce the video and edit and everything of course. If you're interesred Ill probably switch over to instagram direct messaging to talk about the ideas I have, cause I assume itd be better than the comment section
War, War never changes, BECAUSE WE LOVE IT! I just want to say thank you for this awesome series, enjoyed every episode. I also love using Merchant of Death.
@@ToxicSpilll oh yes, many times when your troopers die they take the enemy with them so it's always a victory unless you have fucked up badly which I did do in the beginning trying to get the hang of it.
Just getting into starcraft, your guides have been extremely helpful, will be continuing to enjoy co-op in part thanks to you! Abathur has been my favorite boi, turning a small army into a mass of titans, teeth, and claws have been great!
I actually subbed to your channel specifically because of these commander tutorials after I got a new pc and could finally play SC2 again. Incredibly informative and fun to watch. Thank you for the content ^.^
Few corrections and insights : Mengsk is a lot of fun to play, tho in terms of raw power, he's a litte behind powerhouses like Tychus, Dehaka, Karri, Abathur or Fenix Mengsk bunkers have 6 troopers capacity from the start, they don't need upgrade ( don't even have that one) like in case of raynor. They are also smaller ( 2x2 instead of 3x3 ) makeing building defensive lines A LOT easyer. Lmg troopers don't have extra range, they just recive hefty damage buff ( esecialy double the base damage. Upgrades sadly still give them just +1 per lvl ) Rocket troopers actually do quite a lot of damage. Well, against armoured, but most hard to kill flyres are classified as such. Aegis guard - what is worth noting, their slowing effect carries over to shrapnel, makeing large grups of them absolute rape train against waves of enemy armour Pride of agustgrad - their final upgrade let them fire 2 extra times, so *3* shot total, not 2 :P . There are more of an utility option, helping your troopers horde with +1 range aura. Also, once on lvl 3, they are amazing wave clearing tool. When red dot spawn, just tac jump to that position, fire triple splash yamato into middle of the group and either kill everything, or kill so much that rest is not a big problem for your army. About prestiges - I unlocked and played a fair bit with all of them so : Toxic tyrant - basicly pure upgrade pre lvl 10, post lvl 10 not so much, as nuke rain is just too usefull (and awesome) ability to pass. Esencialy good only for either leveling up, or for eathsplitter cheese strategy. Principal proletariat - my personal favourite. Extra mineral and supply cost is really a non-issue, as mengsk can fully saturate his both mineral lines *really fast*. Bigger supply cost is even kind of a blessing as mandate generation is tied to unit supply cost ( and multiplied by number dependent on unit experience level ). Merchant of death - this esencialy turns your weapon armed troopers into banelings. Well, they goona die anyway, so why not get a little fun out of that :D ? What prestige description doesn't say is how exactly it works, as in fact there is quite a lot going on with this one. You see, upon death trooper will throw his gun at enemy ( with actually quite impresive range of 12, thats close to deployed siege tank range !) wich then detonates dealing actually A LOT of damage ( 150 ! with +100 extra against structures ). Then again one have to play with this power set to know this :P. Also, weapons are still droped as normal when switching to sla...eee i mean worker kit :P .
@@ToxicSpilll Oh, and one more thing - I watched all your guides and saw that all gameplay comes from playing on hard, wich IMHO is kinda doing a dissservice to whole idea. Belive me, brutal isn't actually that difficult. Brutal+, especialy if you land on some nasty modifires, sure, that's a bloodbath. But regular brutal, not really. By playing on hard only, you really slowing down your exp progress by like 1/3.
@@ComissarYarrick I know, but I also make these videos for new players so I try to show them what they will be expecting as soon as they start the game.
thank for u sharing this! ive overlooked the principal proletariat prestige to this day. didnt know mandate generation is tied to unit supply cost. also, i had been grinding using mass earthsplitters and easily got merchant of death prestige, its really fun and troopers become really OP
@@matteblack4573 For info, exact formula is like this : "Imperial Support=100% for Royal Guard's Supply. Depending on the Rank level, the number of Imperial Support increases by x1.5 (Rank 1), x2 (Rank 2) or x2.5 (Rank 3)." This (and a lot of other intrresting info ) is on Starcraft wiki. And yes, merchant of death is a lot of fun. Principal proletariat is still my favourite tho :D
I know I'm like a year late, but I recently discovered your channel, and honestly I have to say you're the best SC2 UA-camr I've seen. That and also your guide has helped me master the art of war crimes with Mengsk, so thank you. Hope your channel continues to grow, and thank you for the amazing videos you put out! Also for the question: Mengsk is my favorite commander, with Alarak being a close second. Honestly I don't know why, but toxic tyrant makes me giggle like a madman when using it.
This is the first time I've come across you. You have made a fantastic guide. So much more fluid and intimate than anything people like LowkoTV did. Well Done.
Thank you! Im glad that you enjoyed the unique guide style compared to everyone else. It's good to know that the style is being appreciated for the reason that it was made.
3:30 Fenix, I used to play a lot of Hierarchy in Universe at War, mainly deploying Orlok over the other Hierarchy heroes 99% of the time, and when I played the other two factions I often used their Assault Commanders as well (Mirabel for the Novus and Charos for the Masari), and I love Heroes that are more "In your face" which Fenix fits the bill perfectly, like Orlok he's at his best when he's in the thick of it and has a tool for every situation he wants to be in, while Fenix is better equipped to support his troops via the Arbiter suit, Orlok instead has an Armor mode which removes his Plasma Cannon ranged attack for some of the highest defenses in the game and an additional 200 health (he has a base of 1200) along with regenerating HP at a rate of 1% per second (Hierarchy Saucers in repair mode should accompany him at almost all times), and his 3rd mode Orlok instead has an Artillery piece as an active ability which can be used while he's on the move but it requires ammo which means taking resources off the map (or killing enemy units since dead units count as resources) and he's considered a vehicle unlike any other hero (whence why Saucers should be his "body guard"), and both perfectly encapsulate their respective playstyles, Orlok can become almost a force of nature laying siege to your base from outside the range of your defenses while slowly advancing with Walkers, Saucers, Grunts, etc. in tow or ahead of him, and while this is more of a lore thing out of the three Hierarchy commanders he's the only one who cares about the soldiers under his command, and unlike Kamal or Nafai would rather avoid sending his troops to die needlessly.
Wait, this is my 4th video I watched from this channel and I legit thought you were MUCH MUCH bigger, why tf isn't this blowing up ??? Some of the most SC2 quality content on yt
To answer you question also, of the commanders I have played so far (which includes: Raynor, Kerrigan, Artanis, Swann, Zagara, Vorazun, and Karax) my favorite has to be either Karax or Vorazun. Vorazun is incredibly unique, and thanks to your vod on her I got really good playing her, and Karax is just CRAZY good at defense... and I LOVE playing defensively
Imperial witness has this other abilities other than detection and imperial mandate generator. If you convert them into patriot mode, all of your dominion troopers and royal guards covered by its radius will gain 20% increased movement and attack speed. Pretty smaller but I assure you it work wonders. Blackhammer has this ability called Bulwark Field providing all ground units +5 armor within a radius of 5. If you mix this unit together with your pushing army or your dominion troopers, they will be tougher than usual.
Just finished watching enjoyed watching and learning about the commander. Favorite commander for Terrans is Tychus, or Swaine. Has for Zerg still picking same with the Protus
i might be a couple years late but i love Dehaka bc big dinosaurs also thanks for making this series, your ability to connect with the audience is what draws me in, i hope after this video you’re still doing it
Mengsk is my favorite to play next to Stukov. The huge guns really take off when you get Toxic Tyrant, the influence you get from 12-15 of those in your base basically lets you drop a full wave of zerg every time it is off cooldown.
Man big mad respect for your efforts, I would love you to continue this series as there is a mod called Nexus Coop and you got so many more commanders there plus you got 3 or 4 more races in the moded area and you can keep it going longer. Much love and support.🤟👍
Im so late to witness this masterpiece, but im glad to watch it fully. so yeah I love raynor, especially it feels like a king to split and still die from a single storm. but p3 raynor banshees+vikings looks hella good.
oh for got to add the important part, they help a lot in the cooldown reduction rate of calldowns, cause losing BC's takes forever to reproduce and -6% for the cd rate, its a small thing but even a second matters in a game of strategies
29:38 Principal Proletariat only increases royal guard mineral cost, not troopers/laborers, so it shouldn't affect the early game. I quite like that prestige, my royal guards are out earlier and I can have more at the same time without them getting stuck below level 3 because the base XP gain is too small to sustain that many units. A handful of level 3 Aegis Guards early on pack a serious punch.
well , i'd like to share my co-op history , i started with the first commanders , grinded artanis only till the 90 level , such a long way ) then raynor till 100 , (i am not a zerg player , never have been ) then my first buy was swann , i played it a lot and enjoyed it till level 136 , after that i bought karax and also had fun till level 166 , then i watched some coop commander tier list and find out of zeratul , that became my next buy , so i played him a lot , having tons of fun with his second prestige , playing with him almost 100 levels (260) then i also find out about mengsk , that is a very variative and interactive commander and bought it , playing till the 300 level , my last purchase was tychus , for obviously diversity , to have more commanders for weekly muttations and brutal + difficulty , now i'm level 321 and very happy enjoying coop every day and finding something new) so i enjoyed so much your series , watching every single of them , learning something new , and expecting new videos every week ) thank for your efforts , great job ! (oh , i am also a kingdom rush average enjoyer )
This here is a man of fine taste in games! In all honesty, I hope you enjoy the series as much as I had made it. All I can really ask such as a person of clear dedication and passion is to make the future videos have the same love, care, and support! Thank you from the bottom of my heart>
@@ToxicSpilll This is inhumane ! don't you leave us ( me , as a subscriber for this channel , have to start mass petition against Blizzard for adding more commanders , so you could make more videos ) thank you man
My favourites are Swann and Stukov, Swann because I like having a late game deathball of steel and Stukov because I love the infested aesthetic aswell as the swarm heavy playstyle that Zagara couldnt quite give me.
Hahahaha my man hits the level of lore before delving into the video. What actual gold, and character. I actually did not mind the slick humor. I also feel Mengsk in this regard was a nod towards Warhammer 40k "Imperial Guards" so the diversity with weapons as troopers is actually very wholesome. And they also have artillery that do the same thing.. inaccurate, but does massive amounts of dmg
Dehaka, just because he can eat like everything. Made a video about it to. And it’s awesome to hear that your hard work and dedication is paying off! Hope it happens with my channel.
I've had some thoughts if you wish to remaster some of your older Co-op videos, since back then there were no Prestiges added. but otherwise great video as always ^^
@@ToxicSpilll thank you for getting more people into SC2. It's my favourite game and its only hope now is to have such a large fanbase that it won't ever die, like SC1.
You’re 100% right about this faction being the 40K Imperium. The character also feels a bit like Alarak, in that he clearly loves how evil he is. I love playing this faction, but I feel kinda rotten when I do. Unlike Alarak’s insane fanatical troops, Mensk’s human troops clearly hate this, don’t wanna die, and subtly remind you that you suck. I’m tending more toward using his Astartes (Royal Guard) to avoid losing hundreds of troopers
Merchant of Death is not a hard sell - the cost drops not from 160 to 120 as the video suggests, but from 160 minerals to 40/20, which is next to nothing considering the economy Mengsk can build quickly and early, and the mine that drops deals considerable damage. Your intercessors cannot heal any royal guard other than the marauders or ghosts, which you dont want to have many of anyway, and so not having them isnt a big deal. Merchant of Death is most certainly strong, if not a go to, for Mengsk, as it allows you to roll over maps with relative ease. Toxic Tyrant is another really strong option, since that can allow you to cheese certain maps (rifts to korhal, for example), as well as provides you with a strong boost to both defensive and offensive capabilities, provided your ally can protect your cannons since they're fairly vulnerable. As an added bonus, you can move your cannons forward as well since they can be salvaged for the full cost. Proletariat, however, is tragically disappointing :( I like the guard units very much and its sad to not be able to lean on them more. Perhaps if the prestige instead of giving them more xp gain buffed their auras more or allowed them to regen like Nova's units.
honestly this content is absoutely perfect for me, I am absolutely baffled that you have so low amount of subs that you have also Stetmann, zerg but cooler and also battlecarrier lord + banelings? count me in
StarCraft 2 is currently not in the spotlight if you know what I mean. Im honoured you think I deserve more subs than I have. BTW, have you watched the guide to Stetmann on his units like the Battle carrier lord and mecha banglings.
Video starts at 7:30. Mengsk's medivacs are messed up though, they wont a click with the army all the way, they stay too far back to heal so you have to manually move them up.
I am a massive stukov fan because I like the massive swarm of never ending units. But Artanis is another favourite because he has Dragoons and Reavers. The last one Im a big fan of is Vorazun as she was the first commander I learned how to play and ranked up to 15.
@@ToxicSpilll I generally like to go for the second prestige as it is the most challenging and its cool to utilize banshees. If im not going second I go first or regular as Im not a huge fan of the bunker strats or the lag that comes with it.
Well, I am happy I stumbled across your channel. You've been a treat. You also sound like the guy from VSauce 3. I had to look it up to make sure you weren't him. Your not him, in case you didn't know. Good luck in future endeavors. As requested... my favorite commander is Hans and Hornier... er. Horner. What did I say? I'm in the process of mastering all the commanders. That couple I find very funny. "Fine." Alarak is awesome too and I am a big fan of his voice actor (Q and Discord). Does that make me a Brony? I hope so. Comments feed the algorithm. So feed ToxicSpill's algorithm and comment.
Y'all need an editor to help cut some of the bad spots in the video. 14:18 has some audio layering that needs fixing, and weird jumps. Other than that, great work so far!
Hey man, curious what kind of content you have in mind. Whatever it is I'll give it a shot, that's for sure. Also zagara or stukov are easily my type of commanders
That is a topic that will only be seen on the day of release, I am sorry. As it goes for the commanders, overwhelming numbers seem to be your interest.
24:46 did you group up the ships before hand or is there a macro to jump between "highlighted" or select which units abilities are shown in the right corner?
I always assumed that Mengsk is in co-op in a similar way the the emperor of mankind. That being he is dead but his supporters don't know that and certain people are using prerecorded lines in a sort of wizard of Oz situation. My proof of this is that a lot of his lines are very vague like "the enemy seeks to destroy everything we have built" and "we do what we must" which could just be how he talks or parts of speeches he made when he was alive be clipped in order to make it look like he is still alive. (This is just an assumption so please don't yell at me if I just strait up wrong.)
Fav coop commander? Hard question Mengsk was my first commander (yes i purchased mengsk and played him first) and loved him, mainly as you said, i was an imperial guard 40k player who used infantry squads as 'spaced armour'... but i also liked him (and other commanders like Alarak and stetman) due to his economy, fast expand and sometimes tech switch. Cause mengsk upgrades are universal (rather then infantry, armor and air) if one unit isnt working i can change without much issues. Though... Alarak is fun for maniacal laughter
So it seems to me that when you are sensible and strategic, you play Mengsk. However, it also looks like when you are evil, you just play Alarak and bulldoze everyone and everything.
@@ToxicSpilll haha perhaps, though merchant of death Mengsk puts a new definition to wave tactics. When i started coop i only played with a mate, we weren't great and struggled on hard, but Mengsk had those global abilities that made it easier and a fast start to help us when we were slower. Once we got better, we expanded our commander options and we enjoyed different play styles, i went from Mengsk -> Alarak -> Stetmen -> Karax -> Stukov while mate focused on Tychus, Zeratul, Swann and now Abathur. Now Brutal is easy for us and learning how to adapt to Brutal+ and getting the prestige we want (i have max prestige Alarak and Mengsk and working towards Stukov and Karax p3)
Very descriptive! I do have a question.. is there a difference between 4 troopers/laborers put in the Earth splitter ordinance? Equally effective with either option?
Bro I really like ur channel and ur content , just if you do this to every League character or every apex character ur channel will growth like explosion
Troopers are my Favorite visual unit of all time. also theirs a modded version of Coop called Nexus Coop that adds in WAY more commanders and make changes to existing Commanders. Problem: Idk how to get it...
It would've helped bring a little more context to "You don't really spam units with Mengsk, instead it's best to diversify them" (which seems to best refer to no prestige) by elaborating that guardsmen and special weapons are mineral heavy and Royal Guard are gas heavy. Prestige options do a lot to alter the economic make up of the armies so you aren't always strictly adhering to diversity for economical efficiency.
Mengsk with toxic tyrant and using the royal guard for defense or attack is straight busted. Raynor with drop pods makes me think of ODST and I love that as well
Alarak used to be my fav until Mensk came in. Alarak is hard to play but feels good when he uses empower me, like a god walking amongst mortals. He is not as OP(tychus) and easy(tychus) as some other commanders but i love his teasing. Playing Mensk is really like playing a tyrant and an emperor.
For me, the Principal Proletariat prestige isn't so much a problem because of the 100% increased mineral cost, but because of the 50% increased supply cost. I have more minerals than I will ever need. But it's rather ironic that a prestige that focuses on royal guards causes you to be able to have less royal guards. And they are not even more powerful. They are only max powerful more quickly. But they don't go beyond normal power. But in practice, I found that I don't usually have problems with my army being supply blocked thanks to max supply. So I usually go with this prestige. It somehow works. Yeah, the start is slow, but then it repays in the end. Merchant of Death has since been changed so the mineral cost is even lower, but now it has small gas cost too. And the explosion your dead Troopers deal to the enemy is... rather massive. Surprisingly so with large numbers. The only problem is that you need to keep reinforcing your army all the time. You use your Troopers more like Banelings than Marines. It's workable, but it ain't my style. Toxic Tyrant is hard to pull off, unless you are on a map where the Ordinances are good to build. Which is only the train map. And maybe the infestation map. Other than that, it's not so good to build them because you will be out of range for every important battle with them. And if you don't build then, then this prestige doesn't give you anything.
My favorite commander has to be stukov because honestly I really hate micro. I can easily send my soldiers who are going to die anyway to various parts of the map and clear out objectives well ahead of schedule without having to do too much keyboard work
I like the coop lots of commanders are my favorite: Mengsk, Alarak, Artanis, Fenix, Swann, Karax, Zeratul, Vorazun, Dehaka, Abatur, Reynor... Practically all Protoss commanders, Terran commanders who have powerful units, and Dehaka + Abatur. I like Protoss in general, and none of the Protoss commanders is bad. Zerg playstyle with lots of weak units that die quickly isn't my strong forte. So it's only Dehaka and Abatur for me. I like the commanders with more powerful units. Kerrigan has hero unit and Ultralisks and Brood Lords. Which is all good and well, but from those only Kerrigan can attack air, and those units are expansive 3rd tier units. Hydras are the only good anti air option, and they die fast. I am bad at controlling Queens. I don't usually like Terrans, but Swan can heal mechanical units and has great defense. Raynor can also heal mechanical units and has Battlecruisers. Mengsk is in a weird spot of having one of the most powerful units, while the core of the army is made of the weakest and most disposable units ever. And the quirk is that those weakest units are produced by the most costly production structure in the game. But somehow it works. Instead of using powerful units as a shield to the fragile units, I use the fragile units as a shield for the powerful units. It works in a very strange way. But this commander is probably the hardest for control. None of the other commanders I like to play requires this much micro. And most of the micro consists of changing stationary and mobile mode for units all the time - Tanks, Vikings, Thors, the propaganda airship thingy... On top of that I need to keep dropping reinforcements with 8 second delay and constantly move in and out of bunkers. That's bonkers. Despite that, I play Mengsk a lot.
other games which have Commander's similar to SC2, and worth exploring are just released Evil Genius 2, and Empire of Sin. The very niche, but with very loyal players base is Company of Heroes 2 (just re-worked one of its main commanders.) Then, may be explore Lore of established universes? Dune, Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Battletech, Destiny, CnC, Division. Each has different following, pick the one you like. Good luck, Commander.
@@ToxicSpilll how much knowledge of SC2 you had when you started doing your vids? how much of it you have now? you ll learn and become better and better as you progress. its never an overnight change.

Can you put small video to give a guide the prestige’s for the old commanders you made a guide for. For example make a follow up guide for Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis prestige’s, since you posted a guide for them before the prestige’s system.

Not only is he fun to play, but his abilities and strategies are so well suited for pretty much every situation.
I know I am late, but yeah he is a solid comander
I know I'm late but stukove second prestige is the best
I am late i know, stukov was my first character i liked to play, now trying mensk
I know i'm late, but I agree. Stukov is fun AF
I know I am late, but playing Stukov is very fun(even if I'm limited to LVL 5)
It is worth noting that Mengsk's special medivacs have a custom AI that blizzard was experimenting with. It was supposed to keep them from flying over the enemy army by making them stay a bit behind the rest of your troops, but I've found that usually it makes all but one of them unresponsive and unable to heal troops or drop troops that have been picked up. Blizzard still hasn't patched this bug, and I don't know if they ever will.
It gets really annoying with abathur building swarmhosts were they sometimes just stop working at times
...Still haven't. It's as annoying as ever.
@@AtomicF0x looks like they work ok as long as you don't get the upgrade that lets them heal two at once.
Your success is because of your hard work and dedication. Can't wait to see what's next!👍👍
Yes! Thank you!
Also you can heal your troopers between battles by switching them into laborers who will repair each other haha
Hey Toxic Spill,
I first saw this video about a year ago, and Ive thought about it once or twice every week since.
Thats a good way to put it. "throw shit at the wall until it breaks" LOL
For content or games?
@@ToxicSpilll both
@@Sonarchyy I play on making different style videos yet still having my guides.
Does that mean you enjoy playing Stetmann or no? Cause he is a mix of both.
@@ToxicSpilll I like his concept, but weirdly enough he's a bit too Zerg for me!
This was a wild ride. Glad I could be here for it. Cant wait to see what content you push out in the future. Starcraft or otherwise!
thank you very much, this has been a wild ride indeed.
One of the most detailed reviews about Co-op Commanders. You deserve more views and subscribers. I really have difficulties choosing between Mengsk and Alarak.
thank you for watching and enjoying the videos! I like to think that despite the content. I have to work harder to achieve a massive community.
Is the merchant of death really that good?
@@ToxicSpilll oh yes, many times when your troopers die they take the enemy with them so it's always a victory unless you have fucked up badly which I did do in the beginning trying to get the hang of it.
Just getting into starcraft, your guides have been extremely helpful, will be continuing to enjoy co-op in part thanks to you! Abathur has been my favorite boi, turning a small army into a mass of titans, teeth, and claws have been great!
The True Abathur Experience
I actually subbed to your channel specifically because of these commander tutorials after I got a new pc and could finally play SC2 again. Incredibly informative and fun to watch. Thank you for the content ^.^
You are most welcome my friend!
Few corrections and insights :
Mengsk is a lot of fun to play, tho in terms of raw power, he's a litte behind powerhouses like Tychus, Dehaka, Karri, Abathur or Fenix
Mengsk bunkers have 6 troopers capacity from the start, they don't need upgrade ( don't even have that one) like in case of raynor. They are also smaller ( 2x2 instead of 3x3 ) makeing building defensive lines A LOT easyer.
Lmg troopers don't have extra range, they just recive hefty damage buff ( esecialy double the base damage. Upgrades sadly still give them just +1 per lvl )
Rocket troopers actually do quite a lot of damage. Well, against armoured, but most hard to kill flyres are classified as such.
Aegis guard - what is worth noting, their slowing effect carries over to shrapnel, makeing large grups of them absolute rape train against waves of enemy armour
Pride of agustgrad - their final upgrade let them fire 2 extra times, so *3* shot total, not 2 :P .
About prestiges - I unlocked and played a fair bit with all of them so :
Toxic tyrant - basicly pure upgrade pre lvl 10, post lvl 10 not so much, as nuke rain is just too usefull (and awesome) ability to pass.
Thanks for the advice and corrections my friend. Thanks also for the extra info on the prestige ranks that I don't have.
@@matteblack4573 For info, exact formula is like this :
"Imperial Support=100% for Royal Guard's Supply. Depending on the Rank level, the number of Imperial Support increases by x1.5 (Rank 1), x2 (Rank 2) or x2.5 (Rank 3)."
This (and a lot of other intrresting info ) is on Starcraft wiki.
And yes, merchant of death is a lot of fun. Principal proletariat is still my favourite tho :D
Still returning to this game for how many times now, sc co op is just the best. Every time I return i return watching this series too! Legend content
Thanks for doing this series. It’s clear that you loved doing it and cared a lot about it, and I found it very entertaining.
Good, that means it's working! LOL
Honestly though if I can see at least a speck of the ground below, clearly not enough gas was used.
This is the first time I've come across you. You have made a fantastic guide. So much more fluid and intimate than anything people like LowkoTV did. Well Done.
Thank you! Im glad that you enjoyed the unique guide style compared to everyone else. It's good to know that the style is being appreciated for the reason that it was made.
amazing videos man and mengsk is my favorite i have a shit ton of marines and a lot of specialized units its the perfect combo of stukov and nova
Stukov seems to be a very popular choice
3:30 Fenix, I used to play a lot of Hierarchy in Universe at War, mainly deploying Orlok over the other Hierarchy heroes 99% of the time, and when I played the other two factions I often used their Assault Commanders as well (Mirabel for the Novus and Charos for the Masari), and I love Heroes that are more "In your face" which Fenix fits the bill perfectly,
like Orlok he's at his best when he's in the thick of it and has a tool for every situation he wants to be in, while Fenix is better equipped to support his troops via the Arbiter suit, Orlok instead has an Armor mode which removes his Plasma Cannon ranged attack for some of the highest defenses in the game and an additional 200 health (he has a base of 1200) along with regenerating HP at a rate of 1% per second (Hierarchy Saucers in repair mode should accompany him at almost all times),
and his 3rd mode Orlok instead has an Artillery piece as an active ability which can be used while he's on the move but it requires ammo which means taking resources off the map (or killing enemy units since dead units count as resources) and he's considered a vehicle unlike any other hero (whence why Saucers should be his "body guard"), and both perfectly encapsulate their respective playstyles,
Orlok can become almost a force of nature laying siege to your base from outside the range of your defenses while slowly advancing with Walkers, Saucers, Grunts, etc. in tow or ahead of him, and while this is more of a lore thing out of the three Hierarchy commanders he's the only one who cares about the soldiers under his command, and unlike Kamal or Nafai would rather avoid sending his troops to die needlessly.
Wait, this is my 4th video I watched from this channel and I legit thought you were MUCH MUCH bigger, why tf isn't this blowing up ??? Some of the most SC2 quality content on yt
Some say that other StarCraft 2 channels are allergic to editing. LOL
@@ToxicSpilll LMAO, so true
To answer you question also, of the commanders I have played so far (which includes: Raynor, Kerrigan, Artanis, Swann, Zagara, Vorazun, and Karax) my favorite has to be either Karax or Vorazun. Vorazun is incredibly unique, and thanks to your vod on her I got really good playing her, and Karax is just CRAZY good at defense... and I LOVE playing defensively
Thats the funny part, Vorazun is my second worst commander and that video has done the best. The hell!?
@@ToxicSpilll that is funny, vorazun is an odd commander for sure...
I think I mentioned "other buffs" as the mean focus and use is the imperial mandate generation that needs the most attention.
YES IT IS EXACTLY LIKE THE EMPERIAL GUARD! Thank you for pointing that out!
Just finished watching enjoyed watching and learning about the commander. Favorite commander for Terrans is Tychus, or Swaine. Has for Zerg still picking same with the Protus

In the video description, my discord is linked there and it is full of people who can help for pretty much any question
I like stukov because he is the hordeist commander and because him as a character is really cool.

also thanks for making this series, your ability to connect with the audience is what draws me in, i hope after this video you’re still doing it
I perfected the start economy build order, now im unstoppable with mengsk
Mengsk is my favorite to play next to Stukov. The huge guns really take off when you get Toxic Tyrant, the influence you get from 12-15 of those in your base basically lets you drop a full wave of zerg every time it is off cooldown.
The biggest injustice in starcraft is you not having 100k+ subs. Great guide videos, man. Helped me a lot starting playing coop. Thanks.

Im so late to witness this masterpiece, but im glad to watch it fully. so yeah I love raynor, especially it feels like a king to split and still die from a single storm. but p3 raynor banshees+vikings looks hella good.
That's an odd army type you never see! Normally is BC spam or infantry mix.
@@ToxicSpilll they out range detectors, banshees take care of ground ones and valk go mainly in assists the invisible banshees
oh for got to add the important part, they help a lot in the cooldown reduction rate of calldowns, cause losing BC's takes forever to reproduce and -6% for the cd rate, its a small thing but even a second matters in a game of strategies
@@kahutee7495 Yeah, when it comes down to strong units or abilities, every second count especially if they are flimsy or time-limited.

“Don’t think just do” was awesome man… lol

Do you go for the infested bunkers trooper spam or do you go mechanical rush of infested diamond backs?
Hahahaha my man hits the level of lore before delving into the video. What actual gold, and character. I actually did not mind the slick humor. I also feel Mengsk in this regard was a nod towards Warhammer 40k "Imperial Guards" so the diversity with weapons as troopers is actually very wholesome. And they also have artillery that do the same thing.. inaccurate, but does massive amounts of dmg

He is one of the most powerful and fun commanders to play hands down!
I recently buy him and he worth it btw thanks for the vid :)
Congrats on the purchase, I hope you have fun with him and that the video helps you understand him.
Great series!
honestly this content is absoutely perfect for me, I am absolutely baffled that you have so low amount of subs that you have
also Stetmann, zerg but cooler and also battlecarrier lord + banelings? count me in

Nice choices. I wonder, do you go for the infested troopers prestige where your army is made inside a bunker or regular infested marines?
@@ToxicSpilll I generally like to go for the second prestige as it is the most challenging and its cool to utilize banshees. If im not going second I go first or regular as Im not a huge fan of the bunker strats or the lag that comes with it.

@@ToxicSpilll Yeah. I know. LOL xD
Fav coop commander? Hard question
Mengsk was my first commander (yes i purchased mengsk and played him first) and loved him, mainly as you said, i was an imperial guard 40k player who used infantry squads as 'spaced armour'... but i also liked him (and other commanders like Alarak and stetman) due to his economy, fast expand and sometimes tech switch.

I'm sorry if I was not clear enough about that. I thought that just explaining the effects of each prestige would be enough to give people that idea.
5:52 The Angiris Council betrayed both Raynor Raiders and Zerg Swarm after the death of Arcturus Mengsk as marked to Overwatch at this point.
when something shoots it's too loud, otherwise this series is great, thanks for explaining!
You are most welcome!
Mengsk is one of my favorites because of his insanely fast economy
Yeah, late game he constantly floats minerals which is crazy!
Omg I freaked out at the 40k reference lol
Yeah, even with the decrease of price of equipment, the replacements would be taxing to fill.
now i'd like to see a starcraft meme review.
Hmmm, not a bad idea
@@ToxicSpilll oh well in that case i'm subbing lol
@@stantoine6345Thanks
I would say Fenix and swam/karat atm are my fav
My favorite commander has to be stukov because honestly I really hate micro. I can easily send my soldiers who are going to die anyway to various parts of the map and clear out objectives well ahead of schedule without having to do too much keyboard work
His prestige ranks are also pretty crazy
I like the coop lots of commanders are my favorite:
Mengsk, Alarak, Artanis, Fenix, Swann, Karax, Zeratul, Vorazun, Dehaka, Abatur, Reynor...
I actually like a lot of those ideas. Only problem is I don't feel like I have enough knowledge on the level of StarCraft 2 unfortunately.
@@ToxicSpilll how much knowledge of SC2 you had when you started doing your vids? how much of it you have now? you ll learn and become better and better as you progress. its never an overnight change.
@@deadwolf2978 For that, we are agreed. I didn't know much and had to invest the time into the game in order to know what I know.
@@ToxicSpilll if you want, i can recomend you a custom campaign called "Odyssey". its one of the best out there, has more than 16 episodes, and has an exceptional storytelling. play it, may be record some vids, see if you and your audience likes it.
@@deadwolf2978 I just might try recording that tomorrow!
THANK YOU!
Your welcome
All i need is a death corps of Krieg skin
With the sheer size of the 40k universe, the is probably someone that has a made a mod for that.
You forgot to add that you can switch troopers weapons on field... Also troopers can becomethe fastest builders in game together, including non laborer ones !
Can you put small video to give a guide the prestige’s for the old commanders you made a guide for. For example make a follow up guide for Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis prestige’s, since you posted a guide for them before the prestige’s system.
I can't show the gameplay on them since I haven't unlocked every single one. I can still talk about the commanders that I missed?
@@ToxicSpilllYes it’s fine. While having gameplay footage is nice the main thing I want is to hear your opinions on their prestige’s, from backwater marshal to nexus legate.
Gg bro, well you can do the prestig but that is a lot of time... Alot, well my favorite is zeratul, but I know the stronges is abathur, good luck bro
GG indeed! I will still play the game on my free time though so it will take a while to get all prestige.
