    Maajid might be the most important voice of reason in the debate over Islam today, he needs way more mainstream attention.

    • @joebrunner8278
      @joebrunner8278 8 років тому

      Why, who cares about what he thinks, feels, says. If his faith his so important to him I am sure he can go to one of the 50 Muslim majority countries in the world and live there.

      Joe Brunner You missed the entire thing my dude. He’s trying to work for a reform. To fix this issue that even moderate Muslims have found themselves in and to try to dismantle the effect of radical jihad on the same Muslim communities you’re talking about

      What was great about it? Maybe if we whine and cry to them they will stop their crimes against humanity, sounds completely reasonable!

    If I were a Muslim I'd feel offended at the liberal idea that my faith couldn't be criticised without the risk of me turning into a froth-mouthing radical seeking retribution.

    • @Badabinger
      @Badabinger 8 років тому +5

      That's a bit of a catch-22: If you were a muslim chances are you wouldn't hold the beliefs that just caused you to make that well-reasoned statement. Your statement springs from being a logical, reasoning, self-analyzing modern human being. The Quran and Hadith on the other hand preaches.intolerance, inequality, divisiveness, blind faith and violence.

    • @7Volkan6

      I am a Muslim and I have absolutely no problem with people criticising my faith.
      I criticise mainstream Islam all the time, we can even do it together.
      However, I do have a problem with people like @cljens
      What he is doing is speaking in absolute terms, his way of attacking is more of an assault.
      Saying shit like the Quran preaches "intolerance, inequality, divisiveness, blind faith and violence".
      Apparently we aren't reading the same book. (Not going to talk about the Hadith as I do not believe in them).
      You do realize that people like you (cljens) are the reason why mainstream Muslims are distancing themselves from non-muslims, because you aren't reasoning, you're just insulting.
      I've managed to convince Muslims out of their hardcore radical interpretations, you however, with such a hardcore mentality are most likely going to fail doing the same. Instead people reading your comment are more likely to do the opposite and approach more radical interpretations.
      quranix.org/1
      Just one of the few reformists. I don't even want to use that term: "reformist", he simply translates the Quran in a more logical way and argues with linguistic reasoning as in to why his translation is better.

      Can you share some of that criticism of mainstream islam you are allegedly engaged in all the time?

    • @7Volkan6
      @7Volkan6 8 років тому

      Xodus Yovsky
      I'm a Muslim who denies the Hadith, I consider them to be blasphemous.
      The Hadith I'm speaking of is the secondary doctrine of many Muslims. When speaking with one another and "learning" something, such as, music being haram (which is complete nonsense). They ask for Hadith for prove.
      A conversation between Hadithers may go like this:
      Hadith believer 1: "I've heard that music is haram, do any of you have a Hadith or a verse from the Quran to prove this?"
      Hadith believer 2: "Here you go, Hadith xy: He who listens to music will burn in hell, the Prophet never listened to music, for it is the devil's voice".
      I don't even know how to criticize the Hadith, reading them out aloud may suffice. They are fabricated lies who were supposedly passed orally for around 200 or so years. And then they were recorded.
      So people literally believe that a story that was passed down somewhat like this to be true.
      Michael told Hanna that he heard from Jennifer who was told by her mother who was befriended with the the uncle of the prophet's wife that the prophet's wife said: *insert Hadith*.

      Yes yes, if we starts whining and crying about what Muslims extremists do to people of other faiths maybe they will stop doing these atrocities. I am sure they can be reasoned with. They are clearly a reasonable group of people.

      He believed in Islam, because like most people of religion, he was born to Muslim family.
      I do not think he believed in Islam now. But if he said he is an ex-Muslim, what he said will be regarded as 'hate speeches' by the liberals/leftist/SJWs & Islamic apologists, & not give a platform to speak.
      So he remained a closet Atheist to help reform Islam.

    • @Trazynn

      That's what Orthodox Muslims and liberals call him. A 'native informant', proving that they don't actually believe in flexible, modernised Islam.

      You can apply that level of hysteria or conspiracy to any subject.
      The effect? You'll stay just as stupid as you were initially.

    • @Trazynn
      @Trazynn 8 років тому +2

      I'm not even sure which way he's supposed to be a double agent. Is he supposed to be an islamist pretending to be modern or is he supposed to be a secularist pretending to be a Muslim?
      What a weird allegation.

  • @don-jp2rs
    @don-jp2rs 8 років тому

    Total BS. You want to fight Jihadism with Democratic ideas ? The short answer Democracy doesn't work in Islamic countries and ME because this goes against American and Israeli national security.
    The idea of Democracy has been tried in the Arab spring in 2011 in Egypt. The Result was an elected government that was hostile against Israeli and American interests.
    The best approach is to have unpopular governments that we can negotiate with and replace if needed.

    • @matthewblake6513
      @matthewblake6513 8 років тому

      Your comment is totally insane. Democracy can work in the Arab world, but it can't be forced upon people. And neither can unpopular governments. What makes you think we should have any say in how people there govern themselves. Would you like it if China imposed "unpopular governments" here?

    • @don-jp2rs
      @don-jp2rs 8 років тому

      Matthew Blake You are delusional who don't know anything about the real world. If you give Muslims democracy, they will try to attack Israel in one year !! Not to mention our access to oil, which is a foundation to our economy.
      The world doesn't work by wishes and kisses.

    • @matthewblake6513
      @matthewblake6513 8 років тому

      So you just admitted that a "foundation of our economy" is access to their oil. So we must exploit their natural resources four our own interest? Don't you think that may be part of the problem? We have been meddling in that region for centuries. It isn't our place to run their countries. That's what got us into this mess in the first place.
