As someone who's sensitive to the texture of the food, I always love to see Taz's opinion on food. They help me a lot to choose food I might end up liking.
I’ve found temperature can affect the texture too. If you don’t like something try it again at a different temperature just in case. It’s worth a shot as you already have the thing. I can manage some things hot, some warm, some cold, but not the other way around. And it massively expands what you can eat.
Never been so early before. Taz, you’re a sweetheart and I’m really glad I’ve found your channel. It helps me a lot with my depression and gives me a break from reality 💕
I’m American but I grew up in England. When we moved back to America it was a struggle to find beans like British beans because American beans are so sweet they might as well be a dessert 😂 that’s why it’s so hard for Americans to wrap their heads around beans on toast or potatoes
@daniahdan701 See, but it's exactly what she said in the video. You're used to how you're raised! To me (raised American), baked beans are supposed to be a sweet maple flavor (which I love). I tried british baked beans in the tomato sauce and did not understand the hype at all.
@daniahdan701 I'll have to wait until the next time I visit! It really is almost impossible to find the tomato-based ones here. I lived in London for a year, so I did get to try them with many breakfasts. I liked it enough, but not the same as what I'm used to, you know?
@@catznjunk yep I get what you mean, I live in Saudi Arabia now and it’s also impossible to find them. I lived in Sheffield for about 5 years and I’ve gotten used to having it for breakfast. Hopefully we’ll have them soon when we visit. I’ll pray for you next time I have them and I’ll remember this cute conversation that I never thought I’ll have about baked beans 😂.
I am from Romania but I live in Germany. Only in the past few months I have started eating baked beans in tomato sauce. Me and my husband had it at a breakfast place and we were obsessed. We ate it with sausage and mashed potato so far as a dinner option :))) Now I really wanna try it with the baked potato and maybe feta cheese since I am lactose intolerant and feta does not destroy my stomach lmao. Absolutely loved the video btw. So fun to try new recipes all the time.
I love how things that are similar have a bit of a spin depending on where in the world.. like jacket potato has the same concept as “kumpir” in turkey..
I'm Irish but since I grew up in Hungary for long time I had never tried beans, but once I discovered your channel Taz I tried it and since then I love having it 😂
The holes in your raw jacket potato don’t need to be deep. You just need to brake the skin so it doesn’t split when you cook it. UK Love a jacket spud. Fillings options, Baked beens, baked beens with curry powder mixed in. Chicken curry or chilly con carney use the jacket instead of rice. Tined tuna mixed with mayonnaise. A quick lunch spud just butter and grated cheese. Last one chopped cooked bacon covered in cheese and popped back in the cooker just enough to melt the cheese.
I'm in Texas and most BBQ restaurants make a barbecue (usually brisket or pork) potato with "all the fixin's" which is butter, sour cream, cheese, green onions and BBQ sauce . They're massive but usually really good. I personally, LOVE chili on a baked potato and that's a quick easy meal. The other thing I see on menu's and also make a lot is "Southwest" Baked Sweet Potatoes and that's typically a baked sweet potato with grilled chicken, black beans, sauteed peppers and onions, sour cream, cheese and salsa. They're very good too.
To me it´s funny and wierd how Søstrene Grene is now being discovered in UK, as it is a store you can find all over Norway and probably most scandinavian countries in general. Glad you liked it, I love it as well:)
Okay, have to comment! We do eat Jacket Potatoes in the US, the difference is, number one we call them Baked Potatoes, and we put different toppings on ours. The thing we find weird about UK style Jacket Potatoes is that you put things like beans, or tuna on your potato. In America we top our Baked Potatoes with butter, sour cream, cheese, green onions, bacon, sometimes beef chili. So, it’s just the toppings we find weird. 🤷🏻♀️
Loved how cozy this video was! I’m in America and I think I would actually dig the beans on a potato! But the baked beans here and SUPER sweet so I think it may be hard to replicate. I definitely thought this was a video from your second channel but I love that you posted it on your main cuz I really enjoy the cozy just vibe with me style videos. Hope you have a great day ❤
I love Baked Beans. I always have some of them in the cupboard. That jacket potato looks so good, I will have to try that myself. Also definitely vibing with the video.
Taz, I honestly enjoy all your videos. The tagalongs are always nice because it's like a day with Taz. Thank you for making life better for us all with your content
Hi!! I am Rawan from Egypt and I would just like to say that we also have beans for breakfast but a different type of beans, and of course I like baked beans ❤❤
It's always interesting to see what people eat in another country. I'm from Canada and typically for breakfast it's toast butter and jam or yogurt, dinner can be a sandwich or kraft dinner, supper potatoes pork chops and veg or pasta with hamburger mushrooms onions and a red sauce.
I LOVE BAKED BEANS it's highkey my favourite food so I keep it for special occasions lksldkfj and I definitely love these vloggy, what I do/eat in a day, type of videos!
I'm an American, i didn't grow up liking beans, but i learned to like them when i was about 19. So i didn't have any pre-conceived notions about beans on things. I have to say i love Heinz beans(and other kinds too) on potatoes/ toast! They're so tasty and a great source of protein & fiber(something most all of us need more of)
the cafe i work at has a tonne of jacket options. we have cheese, beans, cheese and beans, tuna mayo, three bean chilli, beef chilli and chicken and bacon mayo. People often also get tuna and cheese, and we had someone get tuna, cheese, beans and bacon on one the other day (an exception tbf as it was a regular). also this is some of my favourite type of Taz videos!!
I’m from Saudi Arabia but I used to live in the UK, honestly jacket potato was one of my family’s favorite foods because of Heinz beans. I tried to recreate the dish many times but it don’t hit the same as the baked beans here are either too sweet or have a lot of artificial flavor. I tried to order Heinz from Amazon but they overprice them. If you live in the Uk you are a very lucky fellow 😂♥️
It makes sense that søstene grene reminds you of Tiger, they’re both danish!😊 It’s always funny hearing foreigners trying to pronounce søstrene grene, people always have a hard time with the letter “ø”😂I’ve also never met anyone who didn’t love the store, their stuff is great❤️
I am an American who grew up in Australia so yes I have had baked beans the Australian way (similar I’m told) and the American way. They are very different. I tried feeding my husband baked beans the way I grew up and he did not like. However, we do eat “baked potatoes” which are similar to “jacket potatoes” and we eat them with butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon, and chives and I do recommend that.
I do love baked potatoes! Cheese, chili, butter is my favorite. I have tried with bacon too - it's good. Recently I put baked beans on one. It was the maple & bacon flavor & I did like it. Usually, for me, baked beans are for cook outs, where you have hamburgers and hot dogs.
I am from the UK and I LOVE jacket potatoes, mostly with beans (my favorite food tbh), although I do like to mix it up a bit every so often and have one with tuna and mayo in it and a small side salad.
8:06 I'm from the United States. I like baked beans, but the only time I usually see them is if someone has a barbeque or sometimes at thanksgiving. It's not something I have very often. And with beans in general, the most common ways I end up eating them are either in Mexican food or when my wife makes chili.
Yes this calmer casual chill video was really lovely! fun+relaxing 👌🏵️ the more exciting go-go-go stuff sometimes takes more energy to watch, so like other people have said, this was like a relaxing chat with a friend :)
I am from the US - I love the UK and have visited a few times. I love a jacket potato with beans and cheese or cheese and broccoli! I also love beans with my breakfast - I will eat a full English, but I'll just take beans with my eggs and meat. And I have a store where I can buy Heinz baked beans. Perfection.
😊...im from america we do eat baked beans theres a variety of flavors & brands sweet-nonsweet-savory(we have heinz beanz, bushs(so many flavors), Campbell's, van camp & others)....we usually have them for lunch, dinner mostly barbecues with grilled meats(hamburgers hot dogs, chicken)....we eat different beans in general....we eat baked potatoes with a variety of toppings sour cream chives bacon cheese beef or beef chili(thats ground beef & kidney beans)broccoli tomato pepper gravy onion it depends where ur from☺️....you can google american baked beans and american baked potato toppings try some if u like😃
the loaded potatoes are really famous in Turkey! they just call them kumpir and you can add anything to it: corn, cheese, peppers, cream, meat, anything u can think of basically that would work with a potato
I grew up in southern California and in the 80s, stuffed potatoes ("jacket potatoes") were a thing. There was even a place in the mall food courts that sold only stuffed potatoes.
I have avocado, salmon and egg toast for breakfast a lot. I don't just salt because the smoked salmon is salty, but just mash up and season the avo with black pepper, chilli flakes and a little olive oil.
I'm a vegan and I use baked potatoes as the base for all manner of yummy goodness. Favorites include chili beans spud, New England baked beans (veganized) on a baked potato and chana masala on a baked potato. I eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have tried the UK favorite Heinz baked beans, but I prefer my homemade veganized New England style baked beans.
You are so right about the order of cheese and beans. When a shop or cafe does it the other way round, I alwaya wonder what they were thinking as the cheese needs to melt. 😊 I also like thick gravy too. So if you ever opened a restaurant, I'd eat there as I think we're on the same food page. ❤
When I was a little kid I used to love going to Søstrene Grene with my mom, but from that experience I learned that you always end up getting stuff you don’t need there. While you can find good things there, the store is like a labyrinth that tricks you into buying stuff. So I would recommend making a shopping list and sticking to it, or like thinking about how you will feel about the purchase five years from now (if it’s not candy or something you only use once obviously). Otherwise you’re gonna end up with lots of stuff that you never use and that don’t fit your aesthetic.
I'm from Northern British Columbia Canada, but my dad grew up in New Brunswick, so we ate a lot of potatoes growing up. Baked beans on potatoes was normal and very loved... Also I used to eat baked beans as a snack growing up on their own... :P

Then pop it on your plate (or toast, whatever). The residual heat will finish cooking the egg white while leaving the yolk nice and runny. If you cook the white too much, the residual heat will cook the yolk. Just takes a bit of practice to get the timing right. You'll get it!
I been watching you since like 2016 , during your poetry phase 😅. Thanks for the dinner idea..I bought some frozen turkey pies on sake and gravy and broccoli today..totally gonna make it tomorrow
I'm a bean-for-any-meal American & also love jacket potatoes with anything on them. English baked beans are more savory in a tomato sauce & American baked beans are made with smoked pork (bacon or ham) & sweetened with molasses &/or brown sugar. I love the English baked beans recipe from The Tiffin Box site, but I have to cut the sugar from 1/2c to 2 tbsp or less. Way too sweet for me! You can put a lot of things on a potato - chili & cheese is delicious, I've dumped a heated packet of store bought MTR dal... any of the dal types.... on them, used up leftover pasta sauce & topped with mozzarella & veggies... etc. Be creative - the possibilities are endless!
Love this so much, a day in the life is so fun, it would be cool to see some of your creative artsy stuff that youve done before. love you babe, from a fellow welsh girlie
love this video, keep them coming. I had a sudden desire for jacket potatoes last week and am on a mission to find the best way of cooking them this week, so going to try the microwave and air fryer combo tomorrow.
Recommend making pies. They are so easy. Pastry literally butter and flour (add sugar for dessert) Then filling you can literally use something tinned like beef casserole or chicken curry or Irish stew. Then for dessert used tinned peaches or strawberry or jar mincedmeat Highly recommend. We bought an electric pie maker and LOVE IT And it saves us money as cupboard ingredients
Sostrene Grene is an amazing shop! I love it! If you need new recipies: maybe you could try to make a quiche? There are many different types (I especially love quiche lorraine) and it's quite easy to do. (It's always multiple portions but you can put some in the freezer for a different day.)
The way your videos can hug me is so indescribable. I absolutely adore your personality
It feels like a catch up with a friend. Definitely loved it... Keep posting these kind of content.

Omg so true, beans outside the UK taste either too sweet or artificial. Nothing better than the good old Heinz beans.
@daniahdan701 See, but it's exactly what she said in the video. You're used to how you're raised! To me (raised American), baked beans are supposed to be a sweet maple flavor (which I love). I tried british baked beans in the tomato sauce and did not understand the hype at all.
@@catznjunk you know what, you might be right. But you should totally try baked beans on a toasted bread. One of the easiest most delicious combo
@daniahdan701 I'll have to wait until the next time I visit! It really is almost impossible to find the tomato-based ones here. I lived in London for a year, so I did get to try them with many breakfasts. I liked it enough, but not the same as what I'm used to, you know?

Sostrene Grene is an amazing shop! I love it! If you need new recipies: maybe you could try to make a quiche? There are many different types (I especially love quiche lorraine) and it's quite easy to do. (It's always multiple portions but you can put some in the freezer for a different day.)
