  • Every single Prime Minister of Great Britain and the United Kingdom starting in the 18th century and continuing all the way to 2020. Accompanied by cheerful English and Scottish music, God Save the Queen and Clara Butt's performance of Land of Hope and Glory!
Correction: Boris Johnson's term began in 2019, not 2016. Sorry!
    Addition: Now it's over.

Progressive aristocrats who despite their progressive instincts still wanted "the upper class to keep the upperhand".

A bit of a simplification but they were a faction of parliament that later merged with other groups into the liberal party (which merged in the 80's with the Socdems, technically making Edward Davey the successor of Walpole. Infact, the whigs are generally considered an evolution of the Roundheads/parliamentarians meaning Edward is a successor of Cromwell!)
TLDR: The whigs were the precursor of the Liberals

It all started with James the II and the Exclusion crisis. Two groups emerged regarding the matter, one was the "it shouldn't matter if he converts to Catholicism"= Tories; and the other was the "he is a political threat that needs to be removed"=Whigs. Both sides became linked with these positions with the Whigs being synonymous with the concept of parliamentary sovereignty; and the Tories being linked with the monarchy.

The conservative party seem to have won many PM positions since history in the UK government.
    Most recent is Boris Johnson.

Great video and a good resource, but for dummies like me, I recommend turning the playback speed to 0.5 to maximize utility. (Gives you time to think about how monarch & party affiliation influenced policy in each case.)
