She says that while her country has its political problems as well , the one who receives the most votes from the people wins ,simple as that. While the merits of his decision to appease Hitler, and others, is debated hotly to this day, what led to his resignation was the backlash after Britain was unable to stop Nazi forces taking over Norway in April 1940. This led to growing calls for a National Coalition government to be formed to see through the war and for Chamberlain to resign. Chamberlain eventually resigned on 10 June 1940, the very same day as the Nazis invaded the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France. Roughly 5 months later, on 9th November 1940, he died of bowel cancer aged 71
