This was an amazing video, as someone who watches the crossing every year this is definitely a good replacement to in person ❤️ thank you for making it
A wonderful reenactment like those I witnessed in person while growing up in Bucks County, PA. An amazing, inspiring video, and a reminder of what some of our earliest patriots endured during the formative years of our country.
Wonderful depiction of a vital event in our history. we pray that this event will be re-enacted live in 2021 May we never forget why these brave men’s endeavores allow us the many freedoms that prevail in the wonderful US of A
Great job! I can't imagine what it was really like, with the water rising from the ice dam during a winter Nor'easter, at night blowing sleet and rain, malnutrition, disease, and illness ... real heroes. Where would the world be without these brave men and women who fought to have what we have today and so easily take for granted. Thank you!
My husband's 5x great grandfather was one of the Hessian soldiers caught by surprise at the Battle of Trenton on Christmas 1776. He was one of the 900 Hessians captured. He is still listed in Germany in their archives as a #12: deserted to enemy forces. He realized he was no match for a people starving and outnumbered yet willing to cross a frozen river on Christmas to kill Hessians in their sleep! 😄 He switched sides, became an American citizen, and the rest as they say, is history.
I understand many Hessians stayed. Land was cheap and skilled labor was highly prized. Many did join Washington's army. They were impressed by his win at Trenton.
Definitely steeped in the lore of this region. Right in our own backyard so to speak. Makes it easier to imagine what Washington and his troops faced that night when one knows the landmarks so well.

Thanks so much for the amazing video and today I actually witnessed the crossing in person. Very impressed. Thanks you all for keeping this going. God bless and Merry Christmas.
Excellent video and reenactment as usual. This is one of the main reasons why we gained our independence. My Uncle Tony's Brother reenacts as Washington. Great job to all!
Awesome! Would love a long, powerful reenactment leading up to this and awhile after. Everything. You guys are so wonderful for keeping this going!! God bless and Merry Christmas! 🙏🏻✝️🌟💫🎄💫🌟🇺🇸💥❄️☃️❄️💙💜
Wonderful, patriots. Our number has dwindled over the millennia, but our resolve shall never waver. Another challenge equal or greater than Delaware Crossing is right here in front of us. Who is our Washington? Do we wait for one?
My 7x grandfather was there. Conrad Peter Cline. 2nd Pa. Reg Continental Line. At Valley Forge, with Washington crossing the Delaware. December 26 1776, Battle of Trenton & capture of Hessians.
My grandfather told me joke about the crossing. He asks do you know what Washington said to his troops before they crossed the Delaware River? Washington said "into the boats boys." Then he asks do you know what Washington said when he got into the boat. Washington said "now who took my damn seat." 😂
Nice video. I served in Vietnam with the 14th infantry regiment. Col glover was one of general washingtons right hand men. Not only did the 14th man the boats for the attack on Trenton, later in the war glover was asked to form the 1st navy, maned by troopers of the 14th. From them also came the marines that manned the guns on those first ships. Any one who cares to read about this proud history of our country, it’s on our web site. Google 14th infantry, “golden dragons”. “Right of the line!”
One of these days, I am going to drive up to witness this -- as my schedule permits. You forgot to mention that these winter victories convinced the French to enter the war on the side of the Americans.
@@jimrutherford2773 I would venture to guess there wasn't someone there documenting every single piece of clothing in the small possibility you would question whether or not they were wearing masks in the future. They weren't even certain if they would make it across the river or not.
Nothing at all unconstitutional about necessary public health measures. In 1905 the US Supreme Court ruled, and it is still good law, that a mandatory smallpox vaccination did not unduly infringe on a person's constitutional rights. Having to wear a mask is much less intrusive than a smallpox vaccination. This is no more restrictive to personal liberty than having to obey a speed limit, wearing a seat belt, or having to obey any other law that protects both the individual and the community. With every right comes a responsibility.
@@christafarion9 Dear Christopher: Probably not. I have loved this country all my life and have put it on the line to defend it. 50 years ago I was leading an Infantry Platoon in Viet Nam. I have spent most of my subsequent life in public service. What have you done? Can you give me a reasoned argument of why I may be in legal error? Or is name calling all you've got?
@@georgem7965 Dear George: You sound like someone who follows orders and doesn't think for himself to me. Your Vietnam comment cements that view for me. I'm not going to argue with you. We will roll over you, and your past military accomplishments will count for nothing. 2A's gonna knock your teeth out.
Congrats to all for keeping this crucial turning point in our country's history alive!
Walked the walk from George Washington Bridge to Trenton via the Delaware Raritan Canal so many times.

Dude could have cropped out the giant parking lot filled with cars at 0:38 😂😭
The production team wasn't likely the most sophisticated bunch. It's a low budget project so funds are tight.

This site should be a mandatory field trip for all students in the region of the crossing. Some could argue it was a turnng point to eventual victory.

Very well filmed. Seemed authentic. Could have edited out that truss bridge though. For a second, it just reminded me that this is a movie.
This was fantastic, I watched all the way from California, and I appreciate it.

It's pretty wacky, that they do this year after year and yet it never get's boring.
Great job to keep the most important battle of the Revolution going this year.
I lived there when I was a kid. I have not been back for decades. Maybe some day !❤

Great, thanks for showing us.
Still pretty cool that the guy that stands in as Washington looks so much like him. Glad the weather cooperated this year.
Well done, Thank you!
Two of my absolute proven patriot grandfathers were committed no matter the low morale. They were with Washington at Valley Forge. Huzzah!
God Bless George Washington and all our American Revolutionaries!
God bless America!
How wide is the river here ?
About 200 yards
I thought they crossed at night.
Awesome!

An excellent continuation of what was started by St John Terrell and my cousine George Bailey among others.
Very cool

very nice. it's a shame that our local schools no longer teach U.S. History in detail. Washington is no longer even mentioned.

Masks? Really?
Por favor en español gracias
Poor camera work. Dude shot a modern bridge, modern paving. Otherwise, pretty cool.
The masks are a bit much.
Why? It was freezing out that night, so I am sure they had face coverings to begin with.
@@anthonyferrarajr3277but is it documented that they were wearing them? If not it's inaccurate.

Where's that one black guy?
Good question. Washington did have free blacks in his army, so there would have been more than one.
It's not live.....
I guess COVID worked it’s way to the past too 😂 with the masks
😑my thoughts exactly

Interesting that they are fighting for freedom but are bending the knee and wearing face masks or gators 😂👍
