It all comes down to free will. Christ wants voluntary love, not forced love. This opens the door to the reality of the enemy and his desire for Theocide. God is a warrior too. Fighting for us.
I have to admit that the hardest thing to do was to love those who hate us. I talked to my priest about it. His advice helped me with this stumbling block. After that I was ready for baptism and was baptized a few weeks later.
An interesting note regarding "crushing nations"-- If a nation welcomes being crushed by Christ it can in a sense be a good and powerful tool for the health of the nation if the nation is self aware enough to realize how it is standing against truth. Being "crushed into dust" is allowing principles too flagrant to be destroyed and recomposited into a finer principle that in the grand scope of the nation is healthier, because it is moving closer to the will of God.
Father bless! Thank you. One small correction (from a third generation former Jehovah's witness missionary) They believe that Jesus was resurrected and became Michael, not Gabriel. And coincidentally the LDS /Mormons (also did that briefly) believe that Michael was in fact, Adam. Not sure why the foremost Arians among us today have such an issue with the true identity of the Archangel Michael?
Just finished the video. Excellent lesson, but i have one question. This makes perfect sense in regards to mankind. What is the Orthodox explanation for evil "done" by nature? Tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.
It is not evil, but tragedy. Allowed for correction (chastisement for sins...), strengthening (of faith.. etc.), etc. Red The Sunflower by Saint John of Tobolsk for a great in-depth study on this.
@@olgathehandmaid Yeah because the 2004 Indian tsunami that killed a quarter of a million people with about 1/3rd being children really "corrected" them for their sins and "strengthened" their faith
Fr Heers says at one point that evil will not exist forever than turns around and says people will be in hell for eternity. Blatant contradiction. Are people in hell not evil? So God is punishing people who are not evil?
It's a clear teaching of the Lord. Sorry your evangelical baggage doesn't fit in with the early church's example, I understand this is a hard reality but it is infact how Jesus commands us to live.
@@alexcarson2065 I was never evangelical. And self defense and capital punishment were always permitted in Orthodoxy and scripture. This is just absolute insanity to think Christian teaching is to allow yourself or others to be needlessly deleted.
@@alexcarson2065 Martyrdom is something completely different. It certainly isn't NEEDLESS, like I mentioned and not something that everyone is called to. I know you think you're dunking on me right now but it's not working.

Good evening from Greece!

Thank you Father for this excellent video! ☦

The biggest lie ever told: God doesnt love you.
"For God so loved the world He sent His only Son..." St. John.

Thanks. I'll check it out on Amazon
Results of the fall. It didn't just change us but all of nature itself.
What an arrogant statement to make. How do you know? How can you know God's mind and his will and plan for these tragedies?@@aaronnorton-baker4870

You must be a Protestant...lol.
Judgment for evil is not the same as that evil not existing anymore in this world. What the heck are you on about?
Fr. Peter's OPINION about self-defense is the only thing about this channel I just can not entertain.
