adult swim was all I had as an escape in high school. I had nothing at all it was AS and music. Family Guy means more than I’d really care to say here, adult swim meant and will always mean so much. This breaks my heart. Family guy was such an important part of the lineup, AS feels so gutted now. I can’t believe it’s really done. Nobody is gonna respect it like AS did, that was Family Guy’s home. Doesn’t really feel real. I watched it last night and felt so sad. I remember when my parents were doing split custody (when I was very little, born 1996) and I would fall asleep to boomerang, and then one night it switched to Adult Swim. It was Home Movies and me and my dad were both like WTF. That might have been my first memory, or one of them. I remember later on falling asleep to Inuyasha. At this point I thought "music" was just country music (I guess I had never heard a non country song because that's all my dad would play). After they got back together my dad would watch news and law and order until like 11 (central time) and then I would come out of my room after he went to sleep to watch it on low volume while hiding around the corner. My mom showed me Pink Floyd and bought me the Wu-Tang PlayStation 1 game while they were back together (in 2007 they bought me a PlayStation 1, lol), so I learned rap music exists and now I'm a hip hop head. I only bring this up because the memories of thinking country was the only kind of music are synonymous to the memories of falling asleep to adult swim. So I missed the fox shows until highschool because my dad would stay up and watch his shows. 9th grade (2009) they were split up again and my dad would start watching adult swim at 7 (I remember he would buy anime movies on PPV when I was very little, so he already knew that stuff besides news and law and order existed, but didn't care to watch it until the divorce and he said f*ck life, or atleast that's what I think). So then I got to see the fox shows. I already knew the shows but I loved adult swim and welcomed them. I really didn't even notice that the fox shows were on adult swim until 2010 or so because I couldn't get on the TV until 11 and my dad was still on news and law and order mode. I figured adult swim had bought the rights as a 'look how far we came' 10 years later but little did I know family guy and adult swim kept eachother alive (adult swim helping family guy more but still) like as soon as my parents moved back together. I think the people that run the TV channel or network or whatever really know the certain subculture or aesthetic because they skipped out on the Simpsons, lol. The other shows just fit so well where they are, as if they pretty much knew what shows from Fox they couldn't use. The best thing about adult swim is that they are just so interactive with their audience and the people who make the shows. Like beyond anything ever on television. They know what underground artists their fandom wants to see, and these artists would never see television without Adult Swim. It's surreal seeing them on an actual television channel. They brought back Toonami, you just can't make that sh*t up. They are more in touch with their audience then any network or vlogger... I have paid for months of cable specifically to get Adult Swim, years ago. Honestly... I just get hard when I hear the words "Adult Swim". They gave Odd Future a show... I don't know about you all but when Earl and Goblin dropped the certain subculture that seems to love AS was cultish for Odd Future. I was part of it, so it was surreal seeing Odd Future get a whole TV show on AS. The death grips special as well. It's just wild how well they know their audience. Looking back, I would say the majority of the best moments of my life happened with adult swim running in the background (I live a mundane life). Sh*t, I lost my virginity over some aqua teen hunger force (on mute but still). It made bad times in my life better, either from the nonsense happening in the show or seeing my favorite underground artist get a 15 minute special. It was nice being in on the joke. Adult Swim and RuneScape were the best times of my life. Now, as an adult with no innocence left I can't really enjoy things like that as often. Everything gets old fast now, or is uninteresting (or just not eye sparkling spectacular) from the start. Or I'm not in on the joke. So I like to look back at my middle school and high school years and remember what life was like when I still had my innocence. Adult Swim is probably the biggest nostalgiac thing I grab onto. RuneScape, 2000s anime, Adult Swim, San Andreas, Basketball, loitering at fast food places, sneaking out at night to spray paint. Really, I know people that grew up with all the same common interests 12 years older than me so it isn't an age thing, it's really just like an undescribable subculture. Like a half nerd, half delinquent subculture that doesn't fit in with everyone else, but has now become large enough to be its own group to fit in with. Long story short, I'm not super sad to see family guy go, but I enjoyed the show on their lineup. I love adult swim and knew they would say goodbye in some amazing way.

I never really "loved" family guy, but 16 years ago, as a 10 year old, i would get up after my parents went to bed to play on Runescape, Newgrounds, and Ebaums World, with AS running quietly on the TV next to me. Easily 50% of the time it had to be Family Guy on air. Good times man. AS was a different world all together back in 2005 too.

Yeah that’s where my family started watching it was on Adult Swim. We loved it and other people starting talking about it. Then Fox came out and renewed it. Honestly without Adult Swim it would’ve gone the way of many cancellations
No 1 knew what is really was till it was on As. Sad to see it go that just seemed like perfect channel and audience for it. Made the show what it is today.
Heartbreaking. Especially to see all the classic original adult swim cartoons that have long been off air waving goodbye to the last standing syndicated show of the classic era.
Nah Adult Swim loved Family Guy because it was 1 of their most popular shows they ever aired. So being forced to get rid of it was like a kick in the balls. Adult Swim is what made the series come back after being cancelled and it also helped Fox to sell the DVDs.
I think its more of a middle finger to Disney. Instead of ending their reign on a high to give momentum to Disney; they welcomed in the new Disney era with a fitting wet fart. They saved the emotional fitting good bye and thank you to the show for the bumper
It's actually really cool that they put a little tribute up. Not many channels would do that. Family Guy and Adult Swim/TBS really helped each other a lot. The repeats after the show was cancelled really helped DVD sales which led to Fox bringing it back in 2005.
Ah, Adult Swim is the network that introduced me to Family Guy. I remember those peaceful summer nights watching on Adult Swim and not having to worry about school the next day. It was great times!

I’m pretty sure Adult Swim is what lead to Family Guy coming back on the air. I was too young to appreciate the original run (though I always remembered the Y2K episode), but Adult Swim is how I became an obsessive fan! I stopped watching after the episode where Joe got legs, but I still have a huge fondness for watching the same what, 50 episodes over and over again. When I was a freshman in high school, my family and I had to stay in a motel room, all four humans, two cats, and a large dog for two weeks until we had a house to live in again. We bonded over watching Family Guy on Adult Swim. It was a rough situation, but we got through by laughing.
Family Guy:Don't be sad because is over be happy cause it happen, maybe tomorrow or next year or in a distance future it will happen again our paths will cross again. Everyone who grew up watching Adult Swim:"crying like a bitch while the bird is the word is playing in the background"
I remember I would always leave the tv on during school nights on adult swim and just always hearing the family guy theme song while I was asleep , good ol memories
I love how adult swim puts some respect in for the show that made it what it is today, they could’ve just aired that episode and been done with it, but they put a bumper with characters new and old saying bye, such as the aqua teen hunger characters
The animation of all of the characters waving at them goodbye made me realize -we're all watching the same thing miles apart. These characters and stories have an impact on us. The bumper was the animators trying to say goodbye for us.
R.I.P. Family Guy on Adult Swim and TBS 2 years ago. I remember I would see my brother watching Family Guy on Adult Swim at night often back in 2012 it was funny
I was watching this episode and the bumper, but I had no idea what it meant at the time. I honestly thought it was like when Cartoon Network says goodnight before showing Adult Swim.
I remember watching family guy on adult swim in the summer of 2003. My uncle just got out of work and switched the channel to adult swim and the “leathal weapons” episode was airing. Never laughed so hard when the family starts beating each other up. Best believe I got those dvd sets for Christmas later on
I remember when I was younger watching family guy late on adult swim. I knew I wasn’t supposed to be watching it, so I kept the volume down and sat super close to the tv to hear
It was nice to see that OGs like ATHF and Space Ghost said bye to the Griffins. Adult Swim is why i started watching family guy, American dad, futurama, Bob's burgers, king of the hill and the Cleveland show.
Just wow, I was in high school when family guy came to adult swim, back then AS was pretty different. It’s cool to have been around for all the changes. Toonami’s birth death and rebirth. I can’t wait to see how it changes.
I'm sure everyone can remember a time late at night, early in the AMs, family guy playing, your half asleep on the couch or in your bed watching. The silent bump plays when family guy cuts away to commerical. I'll never forget those kinds of moments.
And so. The griffin's among many other 20th century fox shows disney bought were forced to move to Auroras disney Castle. And now..their slaves to mickey.
It was a good run.. haven’t watched cable tv in a good 4 years cause of the military. But this will always be a part of my childhood for sure. It’ll just feel weird from now on turning on adult swim and not seeing it
The end of an era. I can only hope that Disney falls victim to a nuclear accident that makes Chernobyl look like spilt milk and as a result Adult Swim is able to buy out Family Guy and Simpsons
I gave up on Family Guy a long time back…over the years it just got really mean spirited, Uber political and dropped its premise of being an equal opportunity offender once Seth declared certain groups would never be made fun of again.
This is how I discovered Family Guy. Watching re-runs of Season 1 and 2 on Adult Swim. Then later finding new episodes aired on Fox. I bought all the DVD box sets (remember those? Haha) this hits a little different
I think the episode choice is more of a middle finger to Disney then anything. Instead of ending their reign on a high to give momentum to Disney; they welcomed in the new Disney era with a fitting wet fart. They saved the emotional fitting good bye and thank you to the show for the bumper
Yep, Fox cancelled it to move in to new shows that mostly don't hold a candel to American Dad. The show is so popular on TBS and Adult Swim that they bought the rights and saved it. I hope Seth works more with Warner following this.
The fact that AS aired this specific episode had to be a gag. The bumper they made for the occasion was touching.

Truth be told, AS saved this show. The reruns along with the DVD sales of the early 2000’s - it was a fun ride.
Yeah, I wonder what will happen if it gets canceled now?
Yeah that’s where my family started watching it was on Adult Swim. We loved it and other people starting talking about it. Then Fox came out and renewed it. Honestly without Adult Swim it would’ve gone the way of many cancellations
No 1 knew what is really was till it was on As. Sad to see it go that just seemed like perfect channel and audience for it. Made the show what it is today.
The anime at the end was Fena: Pirate Princess
Thank you 🙏🏾

They chose what is easily one of the worst episodes on the show as their last. Maybe they were subtly saying "it's good this show is leaving".
You mean the worst. Or the 2nd worst next to "The Love Sore"
Nah Adult Swim loved Family Guy because it was 1 of their most popular shows they ever aired. So being forced to get rid of it was like a kick in the balls. Adult Swim is what made the series come back after being cancelled and it also helped Fox to sell the DVDs.
Naw adult swim loved the show and revived the entire show by themselves
I think its more of a middle finger to Disney. Instead of ending their reign on a high to give momentum to Disney; they welcomed in the new Disney era with a fitting wet fart.

I like how scared the griffin family looks lmfao
At least we still have American Dad and Bob's Burgers in Adult Swim

Bob’s Burgers is going to be leaving Adult Swim Next Year.

I was watching this episode and the bumper, but I had no idea what it meant at the time. I honestly thought it was like when Cartoon Network says goodnight before showing Adult Swim.
Splatter and Dodge: Uh-oh.

A huge chunk of nostalgia goes with this. Always loved seeing family guy on at night as a kid. :(
I don’t know why this makes me so sad. I guess just seeing another tiny piece of my childhood slip away? Idk... I’m too sentimental for my own good. 😔
I remember watching family guy on adult swim in the summer of 2003. My uncle just got out of work and switched the channel to adult swim and the “leathal weapons” episode was airing. Never laughed so hard when the family starts beating each other up. Best believe I got those dvd sets for Christmas later on
