Over here in North America, our torque specs range from ugga duggas to "that feels about right". As long as you're sure it's not going anywhere, it won't go anywhere.
Hi from Cornwall, UK. Absolutely. As a 35 years in the service heavy plant engineer, torque setting go out the window, I fitted new track pads to a Cat D6 with a colleague, he done his side to torque, with his big shiny 3/4 torque wrench, and I did my side to RFT (Really F**king Tight) with a 6 foot breaker bar, none of mine came loose, and some of his did that in turn wore the holes oval and was difficult to keep the bolts tight in the future. Head gaskets is about the only time the torque thingy comes out as you do need consistent force across the head, even then the torque setting are just a guide. Confidence is the best torque wrench I found. The most embarrassing thing you can get called back to a job for it not tight enough or worse, it swung off.
Very good video. an excellent approach to engineering and not showing any regard for keeping emissions down which is a lot of crap anyway and this guy does not like common rail which makes him a saint too so great job boys.
As an American I appreciate the CAT yellow. Never thought about it. And damn does it look good. Thinking about throwing one of these into a 16 tacoma when I get tired of the 3.5.
Nice manifold, but what a shame the WG twin flange is not extended on the manifold to meet and close with the WG valve - all twin-scroll features blows out the window on that 10mm gab. And single hose fitting to the wastegate will let your back-pressure open the valve way before you think sacrificing spool-up. Electronical boost control is not to go higher in boost, but to make sure the valve is 100% controlled and closed until you reach your target boost and then WG is let open. You need a 4 port solinoid to do this correctly, not a 3 way solinoid.
I was surprised your using copper grease I was introduced to its use while inspecting electric movers. Very expensive and I use it mainly on off grid conductor fittings and high heat or corrosive environments
I've been debating whether to do an EV conversion or a coyote swap in my 68 continental. You good sir have convinced me otherwise. Now to find a reputable shop in or near Reno, NV…
What about two small turbos instead of one big. I know tere is more plumbing required. What I would have wanted is a low rev tourqe monster that you have max boost already at 12-1500 rpm. Like a truck..
Did you do any flow analysis on it at all? The bank of 3 runners towards the back seems like it would have restrictions at the narrow spots between the runners whereas the front bank of 3 flow better into eachother with less restriction.
Hi there, Looking for a bit of help if I can please? My son is just turning 16 and will be leaving school in the summer, he would like to get into rebuilding and tuning engines. Is it best to go to university, college or 6th form at school? Or to get an apprenticeship somewhere? Any help or pointing in the right direction, would be very much appreciated. Kindest regards Arron.
Copper grease should not be used on aluminum, copper does accelerate corrosion of aluminum. use ceramic anti-seize it if for high temperature and it okay on aluminum.
Best off using a OM605. Same as the 606 but it's a 5 cylinder 2.5L. Still great engines and make great power. He has featured a couple on the channel before 👍
Ok, 3rd comment in a row. New to the channel. What is the yellow paint? CAT? Or a Mercedes? Or an off the shelf yellow? I think it would look killer uner the hood of a 95 F250
Your really wrong about that. A small amount of low rpm diesel don’t have wastegates. The only high rpm diesels that don’t have them have vgt turbos which release drive pressure by opening the vanes.
Incomplete guide!!!! Sticker not installed. Utterly disappointed! We didn’t even get to see it. How can we make a rational decision on weather this is the correct part for our projects if we didn’t see the sticker. Its like buying a car without first checking it’s got a manual gearbox!
Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. Is it possible for you to have a mobile number to contact? It is necessary. I want to talk to you. I have a Mercedes 606 turbo engine. I want a diesel pump without electricity.
Waiting for some vegetable to watch this and think it's OK to dremelfuck their manifold after fitting it and complaining to diesel pump UK their turbos shot because of the swarf 🤣
Greetings, i'm Paula representative from Bilibili Comics. We genuinely love your works. Any thoughts about UA-cam's collaboration? There's contact on my header or about section if there's anything on your mind. Have a good day.
It would be great if one of your fantastic diesel engines ended up in the Diesel Tesla project: ua-cam.com/video/GCAWa3aHExE/v-deo.html Proper Yorkshire engineering

Lol
Tight is tight
@@carsandstuff365 doesnt matter if its torqued to spec or cross threaded and sent to hell. Tight is tight
To tight is loose again !

Your OM 606 builds are just unbelievable,I would love to have one from you
Love to see how that manifold looks with a set of compounds.
Probably one of the most well thought out manifolds on the market with nothing but the end user in mind.
You are unbelievable suited as an instructor. Great videos! Love the subtle humor too😂 Internet is always right.
Very good video. an excellent approach to engineering and not showing any regard for keeping emissions down which is a lot of crap anyway and this guy does not like common rail which makes him a saint too so great job boys.
I just drive a CRDI engine, but love to see your OM606 videos, one day I gonna drive a good Diesel car....

Yeah I’ve recently got hold of one of them Bolt torque sheets very handy indeed
My goodness you guys do some great work, thank you for your videos
I think the video of the Great I even had a surprise visit to your shop spoke to the toolmaker when I was doing my delivery
I was surprised your using copper grease
I was introduced to its use while inspecting electric movers.
Very expensive and I use it mainly on off grid conductor fittings and high heat or corrosive environments
Engineering excellence, as always. I've just shown my son a few parts. 👍👍
Love these videos you guys make the best kit and everything looks topnotch I really love the w211 you guys built as your demo car i so want that car 😎
im pretty sure FT means "factory tight" which for most factories is tighten till you hear the crack and turn it back a quarter turn
If I had to guess you'll be doing a intercooler test. It would be interesting to see Na diesel numbers vs. Turbo no inter cooler vs. Intercooled
Who else in America wants to see a compound turbo setup on that engine?
Symple you are the best, awesome performance, wooooo
you guys make some bloody top notch accessories! unbelievable quality.
I've been debating whether to do an EV conversion or a coyote swap in my 68 continental.
You good sir have convinced me otherwise.
Now to find a reputable shop in or near Reno, NV…
Luke have you done Dyno testing of your new manifolds and seen any improvements over the old tubular ones?
Yes love your vids. Didn't know there was so much to a 606
Much better than that heatsink CNC piece.
Amazing videos by the way!!!

I thought the German torque spec was 'Guden tite'...?
keep tryign to find an engine donor for my disco but up here is salton the roads for6 monthes ...scotland most mercs have been scrapped..
Wonder if you put 2 nordlock washers per bolt.
Also, torque spec is for non-lubricated bolts.
Красавчик!!! 🤝 приятно смотреть 👍
You made any billet manifolds for petrol application? They look soooo good
What grade SS did you use for the Manifold? 308, 321?
Absolutely love it, your commitment to these Diesels is incredible.
Did you do any flow analysis on it at all? The bank of 3 runners towards the back seems like it would have restrictions at the narrow spots between the runners whereas the front bank of 3 flow better into eachother with less restriction.
What gearbox is getting bolted to this that?? The big black beast at the rear end?
I love these styles of manifold not really into the tube style they take up too much room
You are going to make me buy a 606!:) Why cooper grease and not ceramic? Keep up the great work! 💯
Please could you try and do a review on the switch blade' turbos there supposed to really good but there's not much out there about them 👍
Wish you could make one for the om605
Do you have ss exh.manifold for marine applications available? Pretty much water cooling jacket is required for that.
Why not sharpen the divider in the turbo inlet!
Will this fit a OM603? I want to do something to my 603, its going to need a new turbo soon
Does your chart show torque dry vs oiled or greased bolts….?
Six sided sockets the spoilt bar steward.
hello diesel pumpuk i have something i want to ask did you install om606 k160 nissan patrol
So you guys make all this rad stuff for us 605 guys as well right??? :)
Can you use that manifold and turbo setup with a high mount Alternator?
How difficult would it be to put one of these turbo charged OM606's into a 2013 Tundra?
Nice job!
Mhh, stainless likes to bend with heat very easily… any leaks after 1 year ?
how much for a complete engine and gear box ready to go into a car please
Awesome thanks for the effort!!
Just out of interest why not use studs and nuts ? Also got a link or a pdf of that tourqe sheet? Also that looks like a very nice manifold man.
Good day ..any news about the om612 diesels?
Ive been thinking about using the om606 in a car hauler ..whats the torque on these diesels?
would the om606 be a good fit for a 77 dodge b200?
Very nice that, going for a charge cooler?
Is the OM606 common rail or mechanical?
Can you guys make an om606 adapter for a 944
I found an OM606 how much should I pay for this engine and transmission together
I will need to rebuild it of course
perfecto
hi luke!
what do you think about 100 cells catalyst on a 400bhp rig?
Does anyone know if these engines legal in Australia?
Hi there,

Where to buy this engine paint?
Hi! I want the same part for my om603, it's possible?
hi sir would that yellow gorgeous power plant fitt in 2004 mk3 pajero ?
It will be a tight fit it's the same with all mitzy 4x4s fairly short engine bays.
Best off using a OM605. Same as the 606 but it's a 5 cylinder 2.5L. Still great engines and make great power. He has featured a couple on the channel before 👍

Доброго времени суток!!! Очень нравится ваш проект! Молодцы!!! Один вопрос,можно ли заказать калектора или все навесное на 606 двигатель?
Можно, на их сайте
Oh, see I always use German torque specs when I work on my Benz... Gutten tight.
Ok, 3rd comment in a row. New to the channel. What is the yellow paint? CAT? Or a Mercedes? Or an off the shelf yellow? I think it would look killer uner the hood of a 95 F250
Dream job
Ah!. a Caterpillar OM engine.
С такой турбиной крутящего момента будет мало при малой акселерации.
Ile kosztuje taka przeróbka OM 606..wie ktoś?
Can you be specific on how many ugga duggas is FT? Just curious
Now just tighten the nut up.
Three days later. LOL
Price
so true! 8:20. but! only real ones admit it. :)
How much did that nice and thin 3/8 extension corrupt your torque value?
Ft coming from the same British units of measurement as fanny hair
А я сделал м8 болты из нержавеющей стали и намазал синий фиксатор резьбы.
Hello can i contact with you about cooperation
beep 😂,brilliant engeneering

LMFAO @ the other 5000 people on the internet.....
Stainless steel is not heat resistant. Using her for an exhaust manifold is a bad idea. It gonna twist and bend soon.
