I just saw Buddy Guy perform less than 2 hours ago in Richmond, Virginia, USA and he did this same thing at the small theater he played at. The man is as exceptional a performer as he is a musician; a captivating stage stage presence to say the very least. An honorable and illustrious King of the Blues. Long live Buddy Guy
Buddy I love this track live guitar slinger at a different level his humour for free his gift in his fingers this is his roots in the raw one of a kind the best can’t get better🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
It's one thing to entertain by walking through the audience, but it's a different thing entirely to put together like 5 blistering solos while walking around, just amazing.
Going to see him today on his Farewell tour in Czechia at last. So glad for the opportunity, that he comes to Europe for his last one. Just beautiful. He's 86 years old now, i don't expect him to run around like he used to, but it's gonna be one of the best days of my life for sure.
Yeah i hear ya. He just announced that hes done after this year. He made a comment a out how he didnt want to end up like bb king. Cause bb had to sit down to perform during his last 10 years. And if you notice, his playing isnt what it once was. It takes a ton of energy to bend those strings, hours on end, one song after another, underneath the blinding stage lights, as well as the heat that they generate
One afternoon, I saw him perform in Accra, Ghana, West Africa many decades ago in an open air gig with Junior Wells and they were as hot as the temperature at the gig. My friends and I had never heard of either of them but they blew us away that afternoon!
Buddy Guy is one hellluva guitarist!, he brings the Blues, playing to the crowd like this is just one of the things he does to bring the audience in to him. Better listen to these Blues greats while you can, we may not have them with us much longer. Thank you Buddy Guy for playing the Blues brother!
THIS IS WHY YOU SEE BUDDY!!!! anytime you are within driving distance...do yourself a favor and spend some time with greatness...Its been years since I saw him live..but I remember it like it was yesterday
EASILY one of the best live music videos (top 5 - I have ever seen out of tens of thousands) Buddy Guy is and has been one of my favorite musicians for years. Watching him walk thru and choreograph this spontaneous film without skipping a single beat is the work of a true master of life, art and music to the nth degree!
Just saw Buddy Guy at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park IL on Sat June 19th and he did the same thing!!! He walked and played through the whole crowd. I stood 2 feet from him and looked staight in the eye as he was jamming on the guitar!!!!!!!! Best show I ever saw........The first note he hit when he came on stage sent chills down my spine. Then suddenly (it seemed) the was ending.............
Everytime I watch Buddy Guy I see something new. I've been playing the guitar since I was 5 years old I'm 39 and I learn a new trick every single time I watch this guy I see where Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana and Stevie Ray Vaughan and all these other Masters I see where they get it I don't know if I ever will be as good as Buddy Guy, maybe one day but not today
Seen Buddy Guy many times and his interaction with the fans is remarkable. In fact the entire Chicago Blues community is very welcoming to all fans, included the younger generation.
Oh my goodness this vid make me wanna cry of joy...Damn he is the man...I can't believe i'm going to see him play tonight in downtown Montreal...I've never been this excited...I'll post videos for sure.
Buddy's shows are THE BEST....I have seen all the great act's in my 38 years of concert going and Buddy blows them all away.....do youself a favor and see befor he stops touring....
Buddy has been amazing ever since he came on the scene. A pro and an artist and a showman without peer. Full of joy. :) Look at how he interacts with people.
You'd have to be a real old time country bumpkin to play a guitar like that, right off the farm or out of the woods someplace, no doubt about it. truly a national treasure, priceless. The Boogie owns Buddy Guy, he cannot be bought, he cannot be sold, priceless. This is the Law of the Boogie. Break it, and you will meet the 'Boogieman'.
Thats exactly where buddy is from...a small 1 horse town in Louisiana. Forgot the name. He moved to chicago in the 60s, hooked up with jr. Wells , muddy waters, magic sam, and chess records, and was a key figure in the chicago blues scene...srv said in an interview, that he was in chicago one time after a gig, met up with buddy at legends, buddys club, challenged buddy to a guitar battle, and walked away humbled.....
He didn’t play like that until he got to Chicago. He also had most of the great blues guitarists behind him, they thought of him as the young guy coming into town to shake things up. He sat in on and played on so many sessions with so many great players. He could play all their records. It’s the same story again and again, local boy guitarist gets good enough to move out (big fish small pond), gets to the city and becomes a small fish in a big pond but quickly catches up and even surpasses the rest, because they’ve got all the knowledge and licks those guys came up with, plus the fire in their belly to compete and excel or be left behind and have sacrificed for nothing. You don’t put aside normal life and normal work for guitar unless you’re gonna put every moment and every penny into it. Every single one of these great guitarists has that same story. They didn’t take jobs, they couchsurfed until they made money from guitar, it wasn’t talent, it was determination to the extreme. THAT is why they’re amazing people. Brave, or dumb, they made it work.
and kadies and gentleman... this is the reason why eric clapton said one time that buddy was for him like elvis was for many of the others... he is the man
Hahahaha, wonderful, this can help to break a too constrained festival atmosphere, to loosen people up, very funny, he breaks the rules so it's interesting, great, very funny, would love to see Buddy Guy play, awesome raw playing, doing this seemed to inspire him too cause it's new and exciting, which is probably why he did it and his playing shows.
I don't think he will stop touring either, just did not want to say see him before he dies...seen him 3 times in the last 9 months, and will see him 2 more in the next couple. he is a busy guy always touring within a 150 miles or less to my home in the D.
It makes me wonder who is the real king of the Blues now WOW there will be a documentary of Buddy Guy's life on PBS tv Tuesday July 27th 2021 at 9pm Eastern Standard Time check your local listing for this program and if you a Buddy Guy fan like I am you don't want to miss it🎼🎙🎶🎵🎸
excelent . Saw him last night at the annual opening night he does -16 nights every January at his club in chicago He's 73 and still coming into the crowd, out the door and interacting wit the fans . Has not lost a step- he played with blistering speed and clear loud tone last night
I was lucky enough to get tickets to see him and BB at Bethel Woods in NY and he just ripped the roof off of that place... absolutely amazing set.. and he did this song too.. I was about 15 feet from him - AMAZING!
AMAZINGLY, F**KINGLY awesome version of this song and the video too. I've never seen anything like it. Many players might journey to the front of the crowd but outside the arena/auditorium? Damn! While many will say that their favorite performer is the "best", I have to admit Buddy Guy is hands down the damn finest blues singer and guitarist that I've ever heard. Thanks for the incredibly crazy video upload. Damn!
Hola público en general,,,, que buen video,,,y no se diga que humildad de hombre ,,,mis respetos músicos como el muy pocos,,,,,,un saludo muy cordial,,, desde Mexico
You dam right I got the blues!!!! Look not anyone can do what he just did! Could go so wrong seen as indulgent self serving but from buddy he loves music loves life and when he had the young boy strum the strings while he played!!!!! What!!!!! That kid will remember that his whole life a true showman a true blues legend and was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!!!!
And when the video stops, and the music so full of joy & power stops.... silence hits you! Booomm! Other than that, what a great video, Thanks for posting!
i think he does this (playing among the audience) when he plays this song. I was just next to him in rocks theater in byronas athens / greece and i felt it. i got the blues , buddy just gave it to me . iwish i could play like him. one of the best concerts i watched.
It just gets me. How a 89 year old guy from Louisiana can play as quick , good, and precise as he can.
No matter what kind of a lousy day I’m having, Buddy Guy always puts a smile on my face
I just saw Buddy Guy perform less than 2 hours ago in Richmond, Virginia, USA and he did this same thing at the small theater he played at. Buddy Guy doesn't just play TO the audience - he plays WITH the audience. Truly a great performer!
That kid will remember all his life he played guitar with BUDDY GUY !!!
Haha Buddy is a wildman. Love his energy!
And there's a reason the great Jimi Hendrix would cancel his own concerts to see this guy....
It's one thing to entertain by walking through the audience, but it's a different thing entirely to put together like 5 blistering solos while walking around, just amazing.
I LOVE THAT BLUES MAN LIVING LEGEND BUDDY GUY ♥️♥️♥️♥️🎸🎸🎸🎸
He just plays straight from the gut. I love it.
I bet that kid, if he wasn't already, is now forever hooked on the blues guitar. What a role model of a performer!
Going to see him today on his Farewell tour in Czechia at last. So glad for the opportunity, that he comes to Europe for his last one. Just beautiful. He's 86 years old now, i don't expect him to run around like he used to, but it's gonna be one of the best days of my life for sure.

No better Blues guitar player, vocalist or showman, then Buddy!
Everytime I watch Buddy Guy I see something new. I agree. Even as good as all the legends are, (everybody in the blues family, and countless others) they still cant play like him.
My Hero.. Hands down! He can still play that "THANG "!!!!! He has Guitar Slim & Muddy Waters & BB King flowing through his soul!!!!!!
Not only his playing but his voice is a force of nature.
That's what i call playing for people, not for money :3
Seen Buddy Guy many times and his interaction with the fans is remarkable. In fact the entire Chicago Blues community is very welcoming to all fans, included the younger generation.
