- We have been in MANY ocean cruises, but never a river cruise… until now! We are sailing with AmaWaterways on the beautiful AmaCerto.
There are so many differences between ocean cruises and river cruises! And the main one starts with the ship. These longboats carry less than 200 passengers! That is a huge difference from the thousands we are used to.
In this video, we will show you what the river cruise experience is like! Including the ins and outs of the ship. And stay tuned for the rest of this incredible series on our Best of Holland & Belgium itinerary.

We did 24 day from Bonn Germany to the Black Sea and I could do a river cruise every year if I could afford it! It was unbelievable!

Thanks for sharing, we have done a number of river cruises and love them.. Last year we did a 30 day cruise from Bucharest to Amsterdam with free laundry service. Portugal is next on our list. Glad you are reviewing river cruises.

What a great idea! It has been in the back of mind to do one of these, and now it is on the agenda! Your cabin is wonderful and I love the intimacy of the ship! I thought it would be cramped jamming so many people on a little ship, but it looks great! If the budget allows, It's a 2025 trip for sure!

You should add these are not typical size cabins they are usually much smaller you got a deal for this. Don’t mislead your clients
I am not trying to mislead anyone. This was our first river cruise and this was our cabin.

What a beautiful ship. We were supposed to do a Rhine River cruise in September, but the tour company went bankrupt. 😢 Maybe someday. Can I ask you where you bought your blue jacket and brand? I love it. Also, I really enjoy your vlogs.

We just disembarked an AMA Waterways cruise along the Mekong . We did the pre and post cruise tours. It was fantastic. Even though I like pho and was in Vietnam, I was always too hot to try it.
This was amazing. We are wanting to do our first cruise on the Danube in May 2025. Looking at all the lines. I think I have narrowed it down to AMA or Avalon. So thank you so much for this. Bathroom is amazing!
Try a Rhine cruise in Germany. You'll be the only foreigners but I'm calling it now, Germans will love you guys!

One thumbs up was not enough for this video. Your attention to detail was just awesome. And you & the others were having such a great time. We've never done a river cruise before for a few reasons. Mostly the cost but....we assumed they would be "stuffy". I know that depends on the crowd you're with but you guys had an awesome crowd. More likely to try one now, anyway. Thanks for showing us. Also was nice to see Dee & Jay as participants & not vloggers for a change. We are subscribed to them also & will watch their take on this cruise also. Really enjoying seeing the Amawaterways cruising. Most people I know who have done European river cruises went on Viking but I am interested in some of the other river cruising companies.
Viking does seem to be the most well known company, but AmaWaterways has a great reputation and we loved this sailing!

Since you and Jason have done a European river cruise, would you try a river cruise in the U.S.? It might might be as exciting, though, ha-ha!! I would be interested to know if 1. How different a river cruise in the U.S. is from a European one and 2. Do single people go on river cruises? I have ALWAYS wanted to go on a river cruise (but in the U.S.). I watch your videos from time to time, and it's always so enjoyable.
Glad you are enjoying it, but my wife and I spent 2 weeks in Germany in Sept. for what the list price for the cruise for 2 costs per day
Oh man! I knew I wanted to try a river cruise. The small ship, exceptional food and port focused! Im so jelly. Now I have to do one. They are so pricy though. As we like to gamble NCL gives us some pretty nice perks. But, I know this was worth every penny. Thank you for sharing this. If we do book one, can your agency book for us? I know we could trust you all! I assume being a travel agent isn't like it used to be, where local folks come to your office for booking? Lol. Now you can have clients everywhere or is there licensing in only certain states? (We book ourselves through Casinos at Sea lol. Shows huh? Hehe. We have not used a travel agent for a cruise.) We are in Maine if that matters. ❤
I also do NCL Casinos at Sea and get great deals. Price would be the only downside of a river cruise!

I’m curious as to whether it was just your travel agency group onboard or if there were others also. I guess I’m wondering if the entertainment, etc… is the norm or was this special for your sailing? It looks wonderful!
We had about half of the ship. There is live entertainment as a norm but the late night music may not be. The piano man is also the DJ and he will play to the crowd. If the sailing has a bunch of low key or early to bed cruisers the music will probably be laid back. But having a group onboard will be lively!

I think it was 212 but not 100% sure. This was a group put together by the host travel agency we work with… but we are planning a group river cruise!! Stay tuned!
I love seeing the ship and your itinerary. My brother is on a 14 day from Amsterdam to Budapest right now. Did you get bored at all considering the smaller ship with fewer amenities? The food looks awesome. With respect, though, please tell Jason not to drink soup from the bowl. Maybe at home but not in public. 😉
We did not get bored. But being part of a group you will always have friends to hang out with. I definitely recommend traveling with friends on a trip like this. It makes it more fun. But honestly… I think me and Jason would just chill if it were the two of us.
