Here's a link if you want to play with the synth for yourself: indreams.me/dream/mDHKDnmzAwB Otherwise you can just search for "Pretty Good Synth" in dreams and it should show up!
Levi...i has idea. For the people who don’t have dreams or for people who just wanna do something with this, you should record it, post it for free download on SoundCloud, then have a remix competition. I think that would be super fun dude
If you are digging the more experimental Sounds he produces in the video, you should definitetly check out what other people do with (semi-)modular (software-)synthesizers. There is alot more of these crazy sounds where that came from ^^
absolutely love this...there are a couple of other good synth creations in dreams but this is the best I've seen. looking forward to the day we can connect midi keyboards into dreams and export original music creations, for which creations like this would be so helpful.
Can't you hook up a midi keyboard with the program Alex Evans made? github.com/mmalex/midi2osc Here is the youtube video on how to hook up a midi keyboard to dreams. ua-cam.com/video/hyrNxs2UyfY/v-deo.html
What you could do is just run an aux cable from the ps4 controller to your computer and then record it using whatever software you want. Even free software like audacity would work
This is incredible dude! I bet a lot of the CPU budget goes on the physical wires, I think you could probably save a lot of thermo for a drum machine if you sacrificed the wobbliness or used paint instead perhaps, but they do look awesome!
@@ChrisLeeW00 if that Dream creation is set to remixable then this is a great way to learn and discover tips & techniques used in the creation of that dream. You can remix it and save it under your own creations. Once you get the hang of the process then yes it is relatively easy to edit it, but there has been the occasional problem where idiots just publish the original work with no editing as their own work. Fortunately the Dreams internal Geneology system allows the creation to be traced back to the original creator. Definitely recommend Dreams as an awesome creative medium for artists, musicians, aspiring game developers, or people who just want to have fun...
This is insane on 2 levels. The fact that you can do this with the PS4 is pretty mad, secondly that Levi actually made this. Words cannot express the level of dedication and expertise in creating it. Not only has the synth sound been made, but the graphics to go with it. This should be viewed by all synth lovers and watched in awe.
I’m guessing you already did, but make sure ignore frame rate is clicked on for any and all timelines. That could be what causes the warping and falling out of sync. Great work! Just amazing!
Just realized that if THIS is possible on PS4, imagine what you could make on the PS5 version of Dreams with all the new audio features that Sony revealed for it. Literally unfathomable
2-8 player vr chat rooms reminiscent of vrchat on ps5 with custom maps and reworked pre vr dreams connected by portals and server lists that redirect you to other dreamers dreams inside of the dream. Walk the moon, make music with a band, make friends, collab. Ahhhhhhhhhhh
I'm not an audio technician, so I have no idea what I'm looking at, but it's obvious you put a TON of work into this. This is one of the most creative things I've seen in dreams.
Played this earlier myself, it’s super impressive and cool to see. I think it should be able to be optimized a fair bit, allowing for a drum track for example. Hope to see more Dreams videos from you in the future, even after 2 videos there’s a lot to be discovered in the music tools, speaking as someone with over a years experience with them.
This is incredibly well made! I just spent a few hours playing with this non-stop, and ended up recording some gorgeous sounds. Definitely the most fun I've had with a virtual modular (or modular in general), I love being able to control it with my PS4 controller!
Imagine 3D printing a mechanism that attaches to your controller controlled by servos, and sending cv from your other audio devices to sync and control the music in dreams
Much easier but less fun would be detaching the the actual buttons and joysticks and just feeding that control voltage into the controller's circuit board directly...
-Dreams is a digital multitool disguised as a game. -A synthesizer is technology that produces and modifies electrical waves that are sent to a speaker to make sound. -each of the top three modules generate waves and the knobs on them change things like pitch and waveforms or add effects like distortion and reverberation -the two LFO's (low frequency oscillaters) at the bottom make a signal that can wiggle any of the effects in the top modules by connecting them with cables. I don't know if you actually wanted to know any of this, but if you're still confused I'd be happy to try to clarify stuff!
@@fatguy338 oh thanks brother, I didn't know what Dreams was , but I loved the brief explanation of what a synthesizer is. This is the type of comments UA-cam needs , have a good day.
@@techaikosa Yeah! It's really impressive whatever he's done with that sequencer! It must've taken so much time to wire everything up especially with the frame drops from rendering the wires. He didn't open all of the microchips so I don't know exactly what's inside, but it's some way of programming the notes to play at the pitches and times that you can input on the sequencer.
@@techaikosa lol i like to call this type of stuff "complicated simplicity" These were the earliest "virtual music programs"🤭 only they were analog and used to take up whole rooms... originally they would only make simplistic soundscapes like what you hear him making... This is what led to "plugins" in music software and eventually into software period... You basically take a simple soundwave and shape it by subtraction as well as filters, gates and oscillators...yeah...since they were analog they required a crap load of patch cables...they can be fun if you're into that type of stuff. But my issue with them is that they divert your attention from making music to basically becoming a sound scientist...lol

If not for LeviN, I would never have heard about Dreams or believed it was this powerful and versatile. Any of the big name music software makers would be charging $1k or more for a stripped-down version of this.

This is so awesome and I hope you get to put a drum machine together, even if its another dream! but also try using the Sculpt Detail tool to loosen your various sculpts, it might help lower the thermo a bit as you have a lot of very hard-edged objects. If you just hit em a couple times it shouldn't be too noticeable to the eye that they are looser.
I was watching a vinesauce vod where he played this synth on stream. had a double take when I saw the author and came right here. IDK why, but it was super relaxing listening to the sound being created, even if the sounds themselves weren't "relaxing."
So much potential for a PC game. I want an entire music studio with VR optional and input of your own instruments or digital simulations of them. Themed studios, real ones, custom... it would make great atmosphere for developing different music instead of being confined to single atmosphere.
