I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed with how much they're charging for a port, however I think this port's reception proves Battlefront is still relevant and worth a sequel, especially based off the original titles.
I think I remember after this game launched in 2005 one year later the devs released some of the dev tools for modders to go wild with a year later. Which's super cool Maybe that's why on the current version you can play modded games in the server/custom games browser on online multiplayer all the way to this day on Steam
Awesome news about BF! Watching Bad Batch made me think about all the wild creatures battles that have came and went in SW. If you get an inkling, surveying weird creatures/awesome creature battles would be a fun video series. :)
Battlefront 2 is still one of my favorite PS2 games. Haven't played it in ages, unfortunately, but I think I ended up with a bug in that copy. CTF on Hoth would always be won by the Empire, every single game. No matter how hard I tried as the Rebels, Imperials would always come out victorious.
Finally a good news from Star Wars, and more because it's on the Game Genre. Even though i own the OGs from 2004 and 2005, still gonna buy the Definitive Collection.
Honestly I'd be okay if they just merged them into a single game, and share mechanics. BF2 could benefit a lot from having some lost BF1 mechanics like the ability to go prone. I'd also be cool if vehicles like the LAAT could carry more than just 1 extra person in the troop bay - as well as make it so people can play as both the B1 Battle Droid AND the Super Battle Droids, rather than just getting the standard B1's locked out, forcing players to either be an SBD or one of the variants of the B1.
This. Also on PC, BF1 actually bad better visuals when it came to post-processing effects and lighting. I would like to see a "best of both worlds" release with BF1's visual polish, and BF2's features. Would also be nice if all the content was in one place for the purposes of multiplayer, instead of dividing the playerbase.
I personally prefer it this way with it being ultra faithful to the original. Regardless we can always do that other stuff with free abundant mods easily, but I can respect why you guys would want it that way.
While I am happy that this game is getting released on quite multiple platforms. I am disappointed as a PC player that I have to buy on what amounts to nothing more than another port of the games I already own of and to add insult to injury to pay nearly double the price they are charging for. Sure there is revised features, and some additional content being reincorporated to all versions of the game, but that's all this game has.
It's sometihng I needed, Battlefront II was game of my childhood, just few years old, started to get intrested in star wars not so long before and I could feel like part of the universe while playing.
My PS2 broke a couple months back, super excited for the rerelease, hope it’s accessible for as wide of a population as possible. Personally I would love if it comes in a physical release. Something in my mind feels a need for the ps2 boxes to sit beside a ps5 box on the shelf!
OH man I remember buying Battlefront 2 on release day at my local Kmart. I am so hyped to play this again in higher rez. I hope it sells really well so we can send disney a message about what we all really want.
Here for battlefront. Legit the only thing from Disney in literally years I will spend my hard earned money on. That’s how much respect I have for those games. As far as bad batch, I enjoyed s1. I missed s2 when it dropped and started watching it this past month in anticipation for s3, but dropped during the episode with the Wookiee and omega running around. I know it’s for kids but man just couldn’t bear it. Maybe I’ll give it another shot but just feels meh to me.
Bro, season 2 got so much more mature than 1. The last half was insanely good. Ofc there are episodes that are pretty childish, but when it’s good… BOY it’s so good🤌
I managed to play the PSP sequels as a kid and they were so much fun for what they were. Renegade Squadron came with the limited edition white PSP with the Vader head decal/etch(whatever it is) on one of the back panels. The later game, Elite Squadron, had some neat features and most prominently was being able to transition to space battles and also into the interior of capital ships to sabotage them all in the same map. I don't have high hopes that those will ever get an updated port anytime soon if ever, but I didn't think the og battlefront two would have either.
#AskEck I've had the idea for a little while now that Lucasfilm should pursue adapting George Lucas's sequel treatments in comic form and getting Lucas himself to consult on it. This may sound like an out-there idea but Lucas was clearly unhappy that the story of his sequels was never told, he's had a life long love of comic books as a medium and even though he's retired, he's always been happy to consult on projects whenever Lucasfilm have asked him to (Solo, The Mandalorian, Dial of Destiny, etc). For Lucasfilm's part, they're fine with producing non canonical content like Visions and the rumored 'What if?' series. Marvel Comics has also just announced they'll be publishing 'What if?' Alien comics and Dark Horse recently published a comic adaption of one of James Cameron's old drafts for an Avatar sequel, so I don't see why Lucasfilm can't get either company to give Star Wars the same treatment. It could even be nice way to celebrate the upcoming 10 year anniversary of the beginning of the sequel trilogy, taking a look at what it could have been. So, what are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's an idea Lucasfilm should pursue?
They did exactly this with his original draft for the first film: Marvel made it into a comic run, and it was great! I honestly don't think much would change, though. They already used a ton of George's sequel ideas in the finished product.
@@owenparris7490 Yeah, Marvel's "The Star Wars" was fantastic. And while it is true that Disney did use some of Lucas's sequel ideas in the final films, Mark Hamill read Lucas's sequel treatments and he described them as being "vastly different to what [Disney] have done".

Here's to hoping we'll have modded servers to make the experience even more fun. During the PS2 days there were a few dedicated server hosts that put alot of effort into some cool mods, some even effecting Jedi force abilities.
Personally, before I fully put on the brakes cause spoilers are not my deal, but I find Crosshair's story a bit flat? Like he pulled his chip then decided that serving the Empire still sounded like a great idea? It feels inconsistent to his character in the Clone Wars. Crosshair shooting the Lieutenant doesn't feel like a character breaking free as much as it feels like he's just catching up to where he SHOULD have been after he had his chip removed, but really really late.
Yes, this is very important! OG Battlefront 2 has the best map selection. I do prefer the EA version due to customization options. BUT! EA Battlefront 2 had very bad press, and even though they fixed the biggest flaws eventually, it was too late for redemption. If they can make Battlefront's name good again, we may yet get a Battlefront 3 in the future! Also, I hope there's a Steam workshop for making new maps.
Casual fan here. I used to play battle front 2 on psp. The best game ibhave ever played on that platform. Only local tho. And was wandering did evryone had the same problem. For republic the map on the asteroid, ai clones were running outside and dying. And for the empire the map with small wookies, ai couldnt shoot them cuz theybwere 2 small. Hardest maps lol
I had late fun with the OG BF 1 and 2 but always left me with a bitter sweet sensation. I will gave this ports a try now that I am more seasoned and nostalgic for the EA BF games.
The original battlegrounds are still great and getting an updated version with the doc maps and characters included is definitely a win. Starwars renegade and elite squadron games were awesome and had cool customization and space to surface combat that so few got to play.
What’s the difference between this and the PC version? I played the PC version yesterday and multiplayer servers were available. There is also very little amount of players, so I don’t understand the hype. Is there something I’m missing? To my understanding the game is $2 on steam…
35 USD!?!??!!? wtf????????????? I thought the point was it will be something virtually everyone with a pc can run and play in giant online multiplayer. Is it going to take a modern system to run as well like wtf

And was wandering did evryone had the same problem. For republic the map on the asteroid, ai clones were running outside and dying. And for the empire the map with small wookies, ai couldnt shoot them cuz theybwere 2 small. Hardest maps lol
Honestly, me and the boys are hyped mainly for the Galactic Conquest that BF 2 had.
Good times, can't wait to get back to it.
This is awesome! I hope the better textures are much better lol
Now this is the real clone wars , can’t wait to play knightfall again
This and Squad Galactic Contention is all I need
I had late fun with the OG BF 1 and 2 but always left me with a bitter sweet sensation. I will gave this ports a try now that I am more seasoned and nostalgic for the EA BF games.
If it isn’t just a beautifully remastered battlefront game with nothing changed imma be disappointed
Great year to be alive for as Star Wars fan
The original battlegrounds are still great and getting an updated version with the doc maps and characters included is definitely a win. Starwars renegade and elite squadron games were awesome and had cool customization and space to surface combat that so few got to play.
LETS GET THIS MAN TO 1 MIL
Played the hell out of BF2 on xbox, cant wait for this
What’s the difference between this and the PC version? I played the PC version yesterday and multiplayer servers were available. There is also very little amount of players, so I don’t understand the hype. Is there something I’m missing? To my understanding the game is $2 on steam…
I feel like singing "Mama, I'm Coming Home" right now. Or maybe I'll just go listen to it.
I'm so fucking happy, I never thought this day would come
oh man, looking forward to the rogue squadrons and jedi starfighter ports next
"Rodger, Rodger".
"Watch those wrist rockets"!
All I want is the multiplayer combat
There is online!
@@jerardocontreras1572 I never got to play the multiplayer, awesomeness!
This is where the fun begins.
cant wait to have this one my switch, really hope multiplayer works on it
35 USD!?!??!!? wtf????????????? I thought the point was it will be something virtually everyone with a pc can run and play in giant online multiplayer. Is it going to take a modern system to run as well like wtf
No crossplay is a crime
I’d love if they did the PSP and Vita ones too. Those games are so hard to play with those weird controls
I wonder if the second half of the season will be an inevitably doomed clone uprising. We still dont know how Rex goes from having this little growing band of clone rebels to living in a glorified mobile home on a backwater with Gregor and Wolfe
I loved the slidey datapads they use at the base
Same people who did the Tomb Raider remaster, so I’m optimistic
Full price for a Ps2 game with no upgrades in 2024 is crazy, this should not be hyped up…
It’s not full price, it’s 35 bucks for 2 games. So about 1/4 price
@@EckhartsLadder helldivers 2 is $40 USD, spending $35 USD doesn’t make any sense considering that you can get both battlefronts for $6.50 USD on a steam sale.
This will probably launch broken and die after 2 weeks
Imagine them actually finishing Battlefront 3 if this sells well
The mod Galactic Contention for Squad is all the battlefront I need.
I need this now. Playing the OG games on modern windows is suffering. I can't wait, I've never stopped playing since 2006 (that's when i first got it).
We're even going to get the xbox dlc characters and maps!
I have to this day been playing classic battlefront 2 on the playstation 2 since I was three years old. I'm hyped
Im surprised people were thinking the Empire wanted Omega for any other reason.
I thought they made it clear last season that they wanted her to control Nala Se.
i know this is a long shot but i hope they add in the missing first person animations, and maybe make the crosshair centred so 80% of my screen isn't staring at the ground
This was my childhood! Friends coming over, playing split screen on the PS2. Man I loved this game. Matter of fact I was a pro.... man, I cant wait to play this nonstop especially online. Time to put fortnite on the shelf and take out my 501st armor. I have waited a long time for this. If this succeeds, and has a massive player base, I hope they expand it more. Oh baby, im excited af.
