- How does the 95 Nm Panasonic GX Ultimate perform? Is it the most powerful motor? Is it a handful to handle? We focus on motor characteristics/behaviour in this test, and we compare it to the old Shimano EP8 (EP800) and the Bosch Performance CX + CX Race.

The big question is the longevity of the motors. I have a 2017/18 Trek Gen 3 Bosch CX 75Nm and I never had a problem. However many of the Shimano powered bikes have had one or more motor replacements. When you look at used bikes on FB market place they are Giant, Specilised and of the Shimano motored bikes Merida plus a other Shimano powered bikes and they tend to sit on Market place for weeks and months. Bosch drive bikes usually are there for days or a week and they are sold. When you drill down on few Bosch motors that have been replaced it is usually because the riders have submerged or used pressure washers and degreasers but the owners keep their bikes with their replaced motor and change their washing practice.
How will the Panasonic over time.

Yeah, if you compare only the raw numbers of torque, then it‘s comparable. In real, the only motor who is comparable in power to the Panasonic is the Sach RS.
Brose is WAY less powerful.
The Bosch CX was the better comparison in maximum power. Because the maximum Power of the Bosch is more than the Maximum Power on the Brose… even when it has 5nm more.
The panasonic is almost as powerful as the 112nm of the Sachs RS motor! 😁
Also i would never recommend the Brose, because it’s the motor who is with a big gap the motor with the most defects and who is the most broken…
I remember the German Bike youtuber „Mr.Eit“ who had in 1 year 8!!! broken brose motors in one single NOX bike! 💀
And he knows how to drive and had never a Motor with only near that many defects than Brose…
@@ApfelSgt Absolutely not true what you just said about the Brose Drive S Mag. It's very comparable with bosch cx and about the video with the guy you mentioned, false information because the motors that he had broken were all specialized version and modified that's why they had problems. The ones with original motor settings and display are very reliable. Just to add he explicitly said he never had a problem with a Nox ebike just with specialized

Good video,thank you. Now help me out… If Bosch can increase the torque of the CX motor from 75 to 85 with a firmware update, what determines the max torque value of a motor to begin with?
In my interview with Shimano video they told me there isn't a test procedure for determining the max torque. I assume it's the same for other brands. It's just an arbitrary number for indicating motor performance it seems. Bosch has very likely increased how much current the 85Nm P-CX is allowed to draw from the battery with that SW update. And they probably called it 85 Nm as it reflected the performance improvement.
Can you review the new Specialized Levo 1.2 Motor vs the TQ? I think it would be a great comparison as they are very similar in Nm and size etc
Yeah, I was hoping to do something on the 1.2 motor, but Specialized haven't contacted me after the launch, for some reason. I will ride that bike/motor, but possibly not until late summer.
You need to try the Polini. That Panasonic men looks good but almost no brand feature it !
I rode the Polini EP3+ 75Nm just over a year ago, a surprisingly powerful motor.

them frey bikes look lethal with the m620 in, on another level to whats on the european markets
@@megane230f1 As someone who owns a M620, not as refined as a Bosch etc. However there reliable and are perfect for when you just want raw power and torque and so much of it it's scary in some situations😅
I'm only reviewing pedelc class bikes/motors with the 25kph limit. Sure, there are much more powerfull pedal assist motors out there.

Riding it was good. But we didn't ride it enough to have an opinion about durability.
I have a Flyer Gotur4 with a panasonic gx motor is a city bike but I have 13k km on it and the motor is still in very good condition
